Yeah, too bad it didn't work like I wanted. I had stuff like that in previous cars decades ago, but I was also utilizing the trunk a lot more, so it needed the extra effort. I got into the trunk less than 10 times while I owned this car, so it seemed less important to put a bunch of time and effort into something I'd never use and/or see. :)
I liked the wooden floor, great idea! maybe would´ve done it thinner, 1/4 inch plywood, dampening matt under.., great video anyhowe, sorry for the swenglish 😅
Adding weight to the trunk should not be a concern. Everywhere else it is undesireable but more weight in the trunk will improve performance. Thats why moving the battery back there is a thing. Go ahead and throw a spare back there too.@@AndyKruseChannel
Thanks! I purchased the mat from CJ Pony Parts, part number TRM85. Also check out RockAuto, they have a full carpet piece that covers the whole trunk area for about the same price.
@@AndyKruseChannel AGREED!!! The problem is I paid $3500 for my 1st one. That amount will get you a pile of rust now. I don't know how to weld. I better start saving!
Since the pieces could not be the same width (due to the location of the fuel filler neck), one piece was 31.5" wide and the other was 33" wide. They were both 38.25" long, but that was due to the carpet I had purchased was only 40" (slaps hand on face). I were you in Washington I could just give you the two MDF pieces and the carpet, but shipping it would not be worth it. :)
Thanks!! The ones in this video are 205/70/14 with 14x6 Cragar SS wheels. I recently sold them because I put some new shoes on!! Stay tuned for an upcoming showing the new wheels. :)
Who else clicked just because they wanted to see this gorgeous sexy beast of a muscle car? Man I am super jealous. Dream car. Absolute dream. Even the colors I would have chosen.
You don't like the plaid pattern trunk liner but you wore a plaid pattern hat??? Just giving you a hard time. Thank you for the very useful videos. I will be bringing my newly purchased 66 coupe home next month and start fixing it up for a daily (sunny days) driver.
Haha, I just don’t like the plaid trunk liner, more importantly the vinyl trunk liner. It’s cheap and it’s weak sauce. 😄 Glad I can help, and good luck with your new project!
Now I have another project... I want a false floor now haha
Ha, I still want that false floor, but doing the carpet piece was so much easier. :)
That false floor looked pretty freaking cool. Imo.

Subscribed! Hoping to pick up a 65-66 this year and these will be very helpful videos!
Awesome, Good luck!

Yeah, I kind of still want to finish the trunk. The issue I run into is it adds weight for decoration purposes.

Another wesome video Andy! I was looking to see if you included a link to the product you installed. I will peruse NPD and CJs. Thanks

My old 65 trunk was rough! And usually wet when it rained. I wrecked the car before I could fix the trunk up. :(
That settles it, time for a new Mustang. :)

Do you have the dimensions of the false floor you cut for trunk?

@@AndyKruseChannel I appreciate it,I’m looking to do this, looks like it fit nicely, what was thickness of ply?
Mdf typically comes in 1/4 to 1 1/8 correct?
@@21titansrock I purchased it from CJ Pony Parts, part number TRM85, about $90. It says 20 oz. in the description, is that what you are referring to?
@@21titansrock I purchased the 3/4" stuff for rigidity. If I purchased thinner stuff it would have required some kind of support underneath.
nice car what size are your tires and wheels ?

CJ Pony Parts, item number TRM85, it was just under $100 shipped, but I don't recall if it was on sale then or not.

I did, but I'm biased. Thanks for the feedback!
