Henin was the Federer of the WTA., the preparation to hit that one handed backhand with that kind of power is astonishing for such a tinny short girl, just incredible technique. a joy to watch.
Yep, amazing player!
Best looking one handed backhand I have seen on Women’s Tour. Like a mix of Stan and Rogers. And a absolute all round game. She was awesome.
Amazing player! Miss her a lot
Justine was the best! And she was so much smaller than most of her major opponents. But she bossed them around. Pure skill and grit.
Yessirrr, amazing player
True
she's an amazing player, but certainly not the best..2007 when she dominated was because Serena had injuries..she even lost to Bartoli and Mauresmo in her Wimbledon bid...she was backed by the French and fellow Belgians in the French open, where she had 4 slams, and intimidated her opponents by their hooting and taunting, she's a good player, but lets not over label.
She was never the best
@@angel91485 She DID achieve world #1. If you want to go on about negating circumstances, we can go into Serena's extensive PEDs use and the secret waivers she got from sports' governing bodies.
She retired at world #1 like a boss. One of the best in the history of the game.
Definitely Robert!
I think she retired at exactly the right time
she retired in humiliation after Serena Williams beat her in their only Grand Slam final and she crashed out of Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the next year at the Australian
@@bryanmartin5901 ahh cut that nonsense if you don't understand what you're talking about. Henin retired first in 2008 because she was very sick. She had contracted the Cytomegalovirus, which certainly wasn't a good thing as it is. Further, she had developed a very setious autoimmune condition that left her completely drained of all energy and unable to do basic tasks, much less play tennis at the highest level. When she came back and lost to Serena in the 2010 AO, she was still (and still is to this day) sick.
What we saw Henin do from 2007 on was her at a greatly reduced level. Before her sickness, she was a talent and achiever on par with Serena, with both of their career trajectories pretty much set for 10+ Grand Slams. Give the woman the respect that she has earned. She battled back from career-ending sickness and was stopped only by the GOAT of women's tennis
@@bryanmartin5901 she was coming out of retirement and still made the final..she would've beaten Serena if she had match practice
She is my all time favourite women's tennis player. Thanks for this video.
You're welcome man. Glad you liked it!
mine too
Same here
Her backhand was untouchable!
What an era of women's tennis..Hennin, Clisjters, venus, Serena, Jankovic, Sharapova, Dementiva..Golden Era
You're damn right!
hello, why Jankovic is in there..
KETAN KUMAR Mauresmo, Kuznetsova , Dementieva, Capriati
Serena’s not a woman
Henrik Wilhelm Patton you know it because you’re a trans person too
Gosh I missed this girl! So talented
Yeppp
My favorite female player of all time. Heck, she's probably my favorite player of all time.
I guess you enjoyed the video then haha
I’m lucky to live 5 minutes away from her academy where she is frequently. She is very kind!
That's awesome. Try to show this video to her!
@@RogerThatTennis Oh I would be quite strange to be honest aha. But I remember that the first time I saw her, i was so stressed to ask her for an autograph that i asked her but I forgot to bring a pen. I had to go back to my mom in a hurry for a pen aha !
@@olivierdusart6588 hahaha that's funny. Let's hope UA-cam recommends it for her then
You lucky devil. 😉
so lucky.... Envy
Great days when she was dominating WTA, miss this kind of style playing on womens.
We all do Santiago!
check out Iga Swiatek
@@tendrugimichal absolutely. there are a number of solid women's players on tour right now
@@tendrugimichal Iga is more than a good player, but her playing style is not similar to Justine's in any manner except heavy topspin. Iga could hit a variety of shots but net play remains a more marginalized part of her game and she tends not to approach forward as frequently as Justine did. This may partly due to her extreme western grip that makes it difficult to hit low bouncing balls. What really differs her from other current WTA players is her placement of shots. She could hit extremely wide shots with great pace and spin from both wings. She is much more all-rounded than most current pro players but her tactical system is still baseline based.
@@user-zw1vq3oy4dOsaka is better than
She was the most elegant female player I have seen in my life
She was awesome!
She was really unstoppable in 2007, won 2 of the 3 slams she participated in.
Yep, she was on fire back then
Roger Federer. The Justine Henin of men’s Tennis.
Yess hahha
Thales of Miletus ehhh you’re the one needs to do the thinking. You completely missed the point. It was a comment on the absurdity of someone having to use a male player comparatively to justify a female player’s ability. All I did was turn it around to highlight that. So your pointless diatribe is completely invalid. You’re not the sharpest tool in the box are you?
@@tanyakirilina941 this is a feminist shit, instead of being gender equality, you just want woman supremacy.
She retired too soon. I stopped watching tennis when she retired again.
Roger started first so 😂
All-court attacking player, with a complete game and such resolve. What a pleasure to watch the game
Loved to watch her
Definitely reminds me of Roger. Effortless style, insane touch and volley, passing shots and slices come naturally, and of course a wicked one hander.
Couldn't agree more!
As a Belgian, I grew up watching Henin and Clijsters play at all the big tournaments, facing off against other greats such as Mauresmo, Sharapova, Davenport and the Williams sisters. When they played against eachother, I always rooted for Clijsters (since she’s Flemish), but when it comes to pure technique and skill, Justine was simply unmatched. When watching women’s tennis today, I can’t help but feel that, unlike in men’s tennis where we’ve had the big three, the overall intensity and consistency has dropped and that any of the names I just mentioned in their prime would easily dominate the current generation. (Actually, Serena has already proven this the last couple of years)
Great comment!
I'm Flemish too, but I always rooted for Justine! My dad rooted for Clijsters. I remember we went to the Diamond Games and were so lucky to have tickets to a match where they played one another (I guess in 2003, semi-finals?). Justine lost to Kim. :-( I really, really wanted her to win. I guess unlike most of the rest of the crowd, there. There was another Flemish lady behind me who also rooted for her but kept yelling 'Go, Christine!', so I'm not counting that. ^^ In the end, I was very happy for Venus, since she wanted that Diamond Cup so badly. After that match, though, Justine pretty much won every single one of her duels with Kim, and went on the win Roland Garros (against Kim). Yay!
She's the only female player I've genuinely enjoyed watching and would make time to see her play
Yeah, I kinda like other girls as well like Clijsters, Andreescu, Henin, Azarenka, Svitolina and a few others... But I definitely miss Justine quite a lot!
Federer is the only male player I enjoy to watch
what about maursemo?
Henin really is the female Federer. Unbelievable skill, execution, vision, and touch. She is only about 5' 5", which makes her success that much more amazing. She was very, very under-sized in the generation that she came up in when women and men alike had started to understand ideal exercising and training to maximize the physical aspects of their game. For tennis players, there are obviously many ways in which this shift benefits the taller and stronger players more. In an era when other players including Clijsters had started to lift weights and bulk up, Henin was the last one to not go that route and relied solely on skill and technique. And she had so much of it that it pretty much always made up for what she lacked in size and strength. You would rarely see Henin get bullied and overwhelmed on the court by some of the strong players when the shift first happened and most of the women who didn't work out suddenly found themselves getting blown off the court. She really was amazing, and the last time I found women's tennis as interesting as men's. Her backhand was exquisite - I remember seeing her hit upwards of 95 mph on her backhand at times, which is damn fast even for men. Federer's own backhand has rarely exceed 95 mph, and she hit between 85-90 on that wing consistently. Forehand - also a comparably destructive weapon as and similar technique-wise to Federer's... she could really flatten it out and just crush the ball constantly. Net play - one of the few players in the last 20 years who had truly high proficiency at volleying in the day of baseline rallying. She also rocked the drop shot too, and it was just as pretty as Federer's
Who knows, maybe if she worked out and got stronger she would have been able to get even better and win more titles, but its awesome to watch a person who really embodies the idea that the skill is what truly matters. The fact that she could consistently hit from either wing as fast as some of the fastet men's shots (in excess of 90-95 mph) is the ultimate testament to the importance of skill to the game of tennis. Most of her far taller and stronger rivals couldn't top 85 mph on their groundstrokes. Super cool to see this little woman on the court with the big game.
Didn't she change her fitness coach and work out more after 2002 season? Which led to her winning 2 slams the following year and bitter papa Clijsters accused Henin of doping
Very nicely put words on henins talent
Henin was dominant at Roland Garros and Federer was not only winning once and much more telling he didn't even EVER once win either of two of the three clay masters in Monte Carlo or Rome in a 20 year plus career. Even allowing for Nadal that shows that he's not comparable on clay relatively. Henin was a much more accomplished clay player winning RG 4 times in a much shorter career. She never won Wimbledon even once on the flip side. Just because she had a one-handed backhand doesn't make her like Federer or vice versa.
@@huzcer the very valid point is that in essence, she is. i completely agree with that.
roger had more style, but hey...
id have loved to see a match-up between those two 😁
@@huzcer dude federer is one of the best claycourt players.
The matchups against Clijsters were 🔥🔥🔥
Insane brother!!
This is what I have been saying for years. Finally a video to showcase Justines skills.
Hope you enjoyed it!
What impresses me more than her beautiful backhand is her impeccable footwork. I don’t think I could find any woman that has the footwork of Henin ... ever!
The split step, the immediacy of returning to the center, how she sets herself up for shots, how she uses them to generate pace. It’s all beautiful, and unrivaled to this day. Only the men do it better
If someone has another female tennis player that comes close to this, please let me know!
That's true man she moves extremely well!
She is the best all court style player the women’s Game ever had.
Love her style!
Rightly said, thats why she won 23 Grandslam. Wow
@@manupeni , she is probably the highest technical women player of all times
@@ollinteco Yes the highest technical player of all time while Billie Jean and others had more than 10 grandslam. I wonder why, what went wrong for her not to be able to win everything being the highest technical player! wow beats rationality.
@@manupeni you’re so smart
Pound for pound, she's no doubt the best. Precision and power!
Great girl!
This is not good! She has not enough pounds for that! 😁 Inches also not good. So... how to describe her greatness? Pound for pound squeared? Hm, maybe. 😁
At last the much awaited video I was looking forward to. What a player Henin was, her style of play was so reminiscent to that of Federer. Her one handed backhand was a treat to watch. Thanks for the video man, eagerly awaiting for part 2 now 😊
Thanks for your comment! Love to hear it
She is absolutely amazing. Thank you Justine for years of wonderful tennis. Love you to bits.
Love this woman!
Thanks for this! After Steffi Graf retired in 1999, I didnt watch any tennis until I saw Henin at 2001 FO for the first time and that was when I started watching tennis again. She was truly a super talented player and a joy to watch. PS: I only started following men's tennis after Federer's first Wimbledon victory! :)

My favourite all time female tennis player with one of the best one handed back hands in both the women and mens game
I'm from Belgium and this era when we've had Henin AND Clijsters on the court was PURE GOLD.
That must have been amazing times for Belgium Kim!
@@RogerThatTennis Indeed !
Best women's player i've seen. Sheer joy to watch her. Sad she retired early.
Miss her a lot!
Henin was without a doubt the most complete player probably in woman's tennis history. I cannot think of another female that possessed all of her skill sets not even today. Mental toughness check, fitness check, fh power check, bh power check, slice and squash shots check, serve check, 2nd serve kicker check, volleys fh and bh check, foot speed check, improvisation check. If she was 5 11 there would have been no Serena era Justine would have bullied them all.
Great woman this Justine was!
Love watching Henin. Her and Graff are my two favorite female players.
Awesome girls!
Thanks for showcasing Justine Henin. She is one of my favorite female tennis players. She had an all around game. Graf would be my 1st pick as far as all around game. Henin a close second. I like Serena too, but as far as great volliers, Graf and Henin were just outstanding volliers.
Really liked her as well! Glad you enjoyed!
If I had to describe the key to Justine's game, it would be: timing and technique. Her shots are just so crisp, and she is able to use the pace of her opponents' groundstrokes to generate the power from her own shots. Truely a unique player, and one of the most fondly remembered.
Have to agree with that!
Because she was pint sized and absolutely fearless I always dubbed her "my little warrior". The fierceness with which she fought... man... tremendous! And then her speciality, de passing backhander straight along the outer line, preferably in the corner. Unstoppable. She was a real punisher.
The only player who could dominate Serena when playing well. Henin retired way too early - what an athlete! Her improvement on her serve and forehand as her career progressed was remarkable!
Love that girl
She was 25 when she first retired!! And 28 the second time!!
@@Carlos-fn2hl So young!

Thank you. She’s my all-time favourite and such a joy to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Henin was the true talent who could do anything. Beautiful tennisplayer to watch.
She was amazing. That glorious backhand which, as a 2-hander, I could never hit. Actually it kinda makes my wrist hurt to watch but man is it sweet
Hahaha yeah it's a beauty
Big fan of Justine Henin😊 she was amazing, her one handed backhand, simply too good😊
Simply the best female tennis player ever, from the point of view of technical skills... she just retired way too early. And all along her career, she had an insane level of competition from some other incredible champions (I don't need to put names, we all know who are these other all time greats). By far, the most competitive years in top level female tennis of any time.
With her absolutely deadly backhand, she was able to make the two-hander look like an old and fairly inadequate type of shot.
Definitely one of the best ever!
Technique aside, it was still great to watch her because of her mental fortitude, balance, and she didn't screech.
Totally agree!
Flawless
Ohhh how i miss Justine, she was such a thrill to watch
Absolutely :)
1. Retired when she was number 1
2. One of the few female players who mastered singled handed backhand
3. Was grand slam winner during the time when resources for Tennis were minimal in Belgium
4. Half the size of William sisters, still whopped their asses (No offence to williams here)
All time GOAT in my view. I enjoyed her every match whatever the result was. She was deadly combination of class and power.
Amazing player!
My favorite as well. Loved to see her and Roger dominate the tennis. Justine didnt win Wimbledon but still her stylish gameplay certainly resembled Roger's.
Thanks for the comment mate! I feel like you were the only one who agreed with me haha
Sometimes, when I'm in need of inspiration before a match, I just watch Henin's videos.
Yessir! Come back to my videos hahah
For me she is the best player , with small body ,she can beat almost all women tennis player with big body and big power
Yep!
can you help me understand.? Is it advantageous to have small body being a tennis player?
@@cyriljacob4839 I don't think. In terms of agility probably but for a great service a taller frame is definitely advantageous and for the reach.
Henin, Hingis and Mauresmo were the only female players that I religiously watched their matches growing up. Miss these legends.
Beautiful to see!
Henin.. Simply the best ✊👍
Daleee
Great highlights! Maybe next time you can include some from her 03 US Open semi with Capriati, my favorite match of all time!
Thank you!! Thanks for the advice!
Capriati is very nasty and bitter.
As a belgian, having both Henin and Clijsters at the top of Women tennis at the same time was a blessing. I can't be objective here, but Henin was my favorite player by far. I've the feeling she could have had a longer career. But still a remarkable one.
I know people talk a lot about her topspin backhand but her backhand slice and forehand are actually my favorite shots of Justine.
I love those as well!!
This was the golden era of WTA. Aside from the Williams sisters, there were Kim and Henin. They are all tennis legends.
I espesially enjoyed the Serena Williams matches i remember because it was always brute force against artistry and these matches are a showcase on how technic can sometimes beat power and intimitation... always great to watch
Often, she's just in defence, but still manages to take control of the ball and whin the point. Sublime.
Henin - the most talented female tennis player and the best player of her generation and the best player in the world and unrivaled for 5 years (2003-2007).
Slams won since Henin entered her prime and until her retirement:
Henin- 7
Serena- 3
Venus- 2
Mauresmo- 2
Sharapova- 2
Clijsters - 1
Kuznetsova - 1
Myskina - 2
If she hadn’t retired at 25, she would have become the greatest of all time for sure.
BEST WOMAN'S TENNIS PLAYER I'VE EVER SEEN
Great gal!
I noticed one thing in this video. That is, Sharapova grunts even for drop shots.
Hahaha yes she does
She's the only female tennis player I love. Classy and simply the best!

Even Justine would agree. She called Steffi the most graceful and elegant player of all time.

Thanks father
Never a thumbail was so real! Womans GOAT
Thanks!
Justine Henin in my opinion is the greatest female athlete the game has ever seen. Her body was built for Tennis and her backhand I would say is the best one handed backhand ever, men or women.
Yeah definitely and exceptional athlete
Probably the most technically complete player of the past 20 years..., forehand, dropshots, volleys, slices, lobs, good serve considering her height, and of course the greatest backhand of all time... she had speed, finesse and power, and was a true all courter as she could play as a baseliner or even as an S&V player, ... A pitty she had such a short career. Definately an underarchiever.
Great player indeed!
You can’t really say she is an underachiever when she lacked the competitive drive and motivation to keep pushing herself. She was very mental tough and competitive when she was on top, but as soon as things would get tough she gave up. She didn’t underachieve IMO.
@@regulusarcturus well, we have different opinions i guess. I was saying that IMO she was the most complete player of her generation. Kind of like the Federer of female tennis.
Her technique, speed, footwork is just extraordinary. I think she has the most beautiful technique I've ever seen. So pure.
Henin is just goddess of talent
She was an insane player!
A lot of love from Belgium 🫶
Thanks Pakos!
Haven´t seen anything like her yet! a true master of her domain! the closest thing as a great all around player would be Ash Barty when playing her very best, or maybe Andreescu also at her very best. I am not saying the winning game or champions mind as there are many AMAZING players with huge weapons who have writen history, but just the mastery of every shot in the book, the variety, the volleys, the transition game, the feel and the tactic aproach. Thanks for this upload, miss this petite wonder!
Glad you liked it!
Watching in 2022😍 Allez!!!

The best in the world for a long period
Amazing how strong a little woman can be
Very technical and the best backhand ever
Definitely top 5 of all time in woman tennis
Definitely not in the top 5. Serena, Graf, Court, Wills, Navratilova, Evert, Seles, King and Connolly are all considerably greater than her and Venus, Goolagong, Bueno and Lenglen also have a stronger argument in the all time rankings than Henin.
Henin is somewhere around #10-#15 all time.
great player , one of the best backhands in the game ,
For sure!
One of my two favourite ladies payers of all time, with Hsieh Su-Wei. Unbelievable strength and ability from such small frames. Legends.
One of my favorites as well!

Gotta love her
When I used to watch Women tennis, she is the reason
Points on 6mins 27 and the point after tat are so good its not even fair.
Crazy indeed
Gotta love her backhand!!!!
Yessirr
She should come back and teach all these youngsters a tennis lesson 😁
That'd be beautiful
Justin is so brilliant . I just remember her one handed backhand....wowww.
She is comparatively smaller than others but the power, o my God
La última jugadora con la que yo me llené los ojos viendo tenis. Era una alegría prepararse el día que ella iba a jugar una semifinal o final de un torneo, porque ya sabía de antemano que iba a disfrutar mas allá del resultado.
The last 2 topspin backhand winners of Henin I just went "woa..." I've never seen a female player hit the backhand like that before or after her.
Ashley Barty, besides her dh backhand, imo has the game and variety shot making like Henin. Actually her one handed slice backhand is probably the best in WTA, her slice backhand destroys her opponents.
Great point furionese!
I love hennin 💫😍👑
Amazing player :)
Great video compilation. I really hate to be that “woke” guy, and I know what you are trying to say, but Justine Henin won 7 grand slam tournaments on her own merit. She is the Justine Henin of women’s tennis! She shouldn’t have to be characterised by a man. Much as I love Federer #strongwomen
Thanks for the comment! I didn't mean to be sexist, I just think her style of play is kinda similar to Roger. But I get that she's very unique as a woman as well!
I like how no one really talks about Justine's forehand. She had a killer forehand and absolutely underrated one at that.
serious underated running forehand!!!!
She had mad skills. One of the most talented ever, men and women.
Loved watching her.
The player who played chess on court means only Justine Henin
Beast!!
I think Martina Hingis fits that description better. Justine was a huge hitter. Maybe about the biggest pound for pound I can think of for a woman player.
@@ChaunceyDos Nice comparison!
Justine is like a tennis school for kids today who want to play tennis. Today tennis really lacks players like herself and Hingis who had touchy hands. Both were amazing also I think i would add Mauresmo here. Some of the most underrated tennis players with deceptive abilities as well.
Can definitely learn a lot from them
Amazing stats across relatively short career. Impressive.

Great player. Not quite the female Rog. She did resort to mostly power play, like all women's tennis at that time. Rog is effortless, whereas she pushed so hard she got ill!
