  • Enceladus, or Saturn II, is the sixth largest satellite of Saturn, discovered by William Herschel in 1789.
Until Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 approached Enceladus in the 1980s, there was little information about Enceladus, and the Voyager probe measured about 500 km in diameter, only 1/10 the size of Saturn's largest satellite, Titan, but the surface of Enceladus looks very bright because it reflects almost all the sunlight. The surface of Enceladus is mostly covered with clean, clear ice, reaching -198 °C by noon.
In addition, although Enceladus is very small, there are old collisions, and there are relatively young topography created by crustal fluctuations 100 million years ago.
