Great build! I appreciate you showing us your dust collection strategy! Hose sleeve kit... who knew?!!! Your undercounter power tool cubby needs some undercounter lighting for easy visibility!!
I love it! I may not have the cash yet for the festool but I will be incorporating every facet of your system as I go along setting up my own shop. Thanks for sharing your ideas on this and the other dust collection and blast gates!
Great idea! I hate the hose sticking to the edge of the board when I'm cutting with my track saw, I use a hook on the ceiling at the moment but I will build this, great solution, thanks 😊
Nice easy functional build. Looks cool! I'd have been tempted to loop the hose and mains cable in and out of the holes in the boom arm shoe lace style, though I guess the arm might not stow flush with the wall.
Thanks for the vid but thanks also for the hose and sleeve sourcing. I might be able to find a hose here but that damn adapter!!!! I am gonna have a think about getting them sent over ..... more money for USPS!! Greetings from the south west of Australia too.
Nice, thanks for sharing. I think I will make a version of this to use in my basement shop but I will need to suspend it form the ceiling as I don't have the headroom like you do in your shop.
Let me know how it works out. Mine is still working like a champ despite my concerns that it may need a more durable design with a break away or spring design for the times when it gets tugged sharply but it’s not the case!
I love the switches on the blast gates! Such a great idea, do you have a link to an install of those and what gauge wiring you bought to run to the motor?
So it appears you have two Rigid hoses, with the ShopVac end together using the included junction, and the 1 7/8th" end connected to the tool; correct? You stated that you had to use some duct tape to connect the original Festool hose to the 1 7/8th end, but at the tool side, does it fit, or need further adapting? Nice idea.
I thought that too shortly after building it. Decided I would put a spring breakaway design when the inevitable happens, but 2 years later it is still original and no worse for wear.
Your miter bench the blue tops where did you buy them to include fence I've been looking for tops like what you have with no luck can I get a little help. Great dust collector boom I'm going to build one also Richard Longoria San Antonio TX
Where would the "shock" come from? I understand about the dangers of the dust catching fire, I'm just wondering where were the spark come from? What would cause it? Thanks.
There is no single right solution for any person and any workshop. For me, I don’t like my tools out getting dusty. I know that I walk over to the place where the systainers are stored but I found that, even if I have the tool to hand, there is always an accessory or spanner or whatever that I need. So, it is whatever suits your personality. I am moving into a new workshop at the moment in a process that is nice and slow so that I don’t have a pile of tools lying waiting for it’s storage. I am looking to build a boom like yours but the reach will have to be 3m - so everything will be up-engineered with a torsion box arm and heavy duty hinges. It will be interesting to see how that build goes.

Very nice, this is on my list of shop additions
Simple, easy and effective! My kinda upgrade. I'm going to "borrow" your idea to make a similar setup. Thanks for putting this out there on UA-cam !

Nice job. Great looking shop. Thanks for the link on the sleeve.
Peace

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! If Festertool made it, they'd want a grand for it!
Never seen the wall behind a mitre saw without a dust hood look so clean! Nice workstation 👍
Great video, good insights in shop set up. Thanks I'm going to use some of these ideas
Just what i was looking for! Thanks! You have a new subscriber

Very good idea, up there for thinking!!! Cheers Aussie Sean
Perfect for my shop.
Thanks for posting.
Brilliant work! Thank you
it is a genius idea to attach the boom on a french cleat wall.
Nice easy functional build. Looks cool!

Love it! New subscriber
I like it. Thanks for sharing
Love it! Thanks
I just finished building mine. I basically copied what you did. Thank you!
Let me know how it works out. Mine is still working like a champ despite my concerns that it may need a more durable design with a break away or spring design for the times when it gets tugged sharply but it’s not the case!

Great video and love the boom arm. I'm certainly going to do that. Curious, where did you buy the blue fencing for the miter saw?
Very nice.
Great way to overcome annoying long hose on the ground, don’t mind if I copy.
Great idea 👌
Love you miter saw bench set up. Do you happen to have plans available for it you would be willing to share?
Thank you
info on the adapter from the ridgid hose to the Festool hose would be appreciated
great looking shop. thx
The boom looks simple enough, is the hinge stiff or really loose?
Any concern with the rigid hose not being anti-static? I'm hoping to do a similar setup, but will probably use PVC to run up to the ceiling!
Video was good but the details of the video write down are missing. It is a pity! It would be nice find a link of what you used

Instead of hooking up the boom hose to a festool dust extractor, could you just hook it up to your main dust collector?
Great idea, thanks for the video.
Peace of Lord Jesus upon you and yours
That's a super innovative idea, but I'm pretty sure I would snag the hose on something and snap that boom in the first week.
I thought that too shortly after building it. Decided I would put a spring breakaway design when the inevitable happens, but 2 years later it is still original and no worse for wear.
@@Selandry1 Hmmm, well color me impressed. Maybe I'll queue this up for creation after all then. Thanks!

They are made by Kregg. It's called a Kregg fence. I bought it locally at a woodworking store.
Thanks so much will check them out.
Richard
Why is the watch on the wall upside down?
What is the length of the boom arm. Comparing the 7 ft hose it appears to be about 4 ft long. Is that about right?
If I remember right it's about 4'6"
What are the dimensions of your shop, sir? I'm in the planning stages of building mine and yours is absolutely perfect.
25 feet x 14 but it is L shaped to allow for my tablesaw. Here it is : lumberjocks.com/Missouriwalnut/workshop
Selandry1 Awesome shop sir! Thank you for the reply!
Very nice. Sometimes it’s the little improvements that make a big difference. Thanks for sharing. Love your shop.
😎
Any concerns about static electricity?
The festool hose is anti static. I hope that is all I need.
You worry too much. There has never been a dust explosion in a small home workshop - it's a freaking myth.
Where would the "shock" come from? I understand about the dangers of the dust catching fire, I'm just wondering where were the spark come from? What would cause it? Thanks.
In my first work I always used Woodglut plans.
