"Wherever you interject money and jobs, gang violence dissipates." It's amazing that someone has to actually come out and say this out loud. Should be common sense, shouldn't it? The fact that it takes a famous rapper to come up with a friggin' soft drink (!!!) and a whole Netflix show (and a new effin' religion to boot!) to bring attention to this fact just boggles my mind. Still, the idea of a "church of sleep" (much like the idea of a "church of bacon") is very enticing....
A healthy community doesn't need anyone to "interject" anything. Do what everyone else does: start businesses. No groceries in the poor part of town? Lease a building, make some distribution agreements, and sell food. Now you have jobs too.
Here's an idea for a religion: "Shut up and do your homework."

@@aluisious , you're an idiot! In every darn situation where people are held back financially or mentally, it always takes certain types of people to step up and help others out. Usually it's those that are doing better financially because maybe they are just better at it. Not everyone is the same. Many people are better followers than leaders. If we wouldn't have as many people who are good followers, there'd probably be even more wars than we have currently. The way the world stays balanced is by having a certain amount of leaders and a certain amount of followers. However, when the leaders start taking advantage of the followers and vice versa, things become unbalanced. The minute we stop helping each other out, we're all doomed!

So...I'm a pasty white, Anglo-Irish, boomer, Canadian Hockey Mom and I LOVE Killer Mike. I was introduced to Mike via Bill Maher and I think he is great. I don't always agree 100% with everything he says, but 9 times out of 10 I think: " Spot On, Mike". I also love that he supported Bernie in 2016. I ask myself: " would this person pass the All-Stars Test??" when I am assessing if I think someone is a Good Person. Now...the All-Stars are my Deceased Parents and my Aunts...and I won't go into detail, cuz that would be a Book, but I'll tell ya...they were some SERIOUSLY GOOD PEOPLE, and even my 93 year old Aunt would have liked Mike. I'll be logging in to my Netflix to check out this new show. Way to go, KM !!

I've been going to the church of Sleep for 20yrs Sleepy and Mike are truly some righteous brothers.
Mike is right about the friendliness of Atlanta. When I visited it briefly years ago, I asked a shopkeeper for directions to the cemetery where Dr Martin Luther King is buried. He told me, then asked if I had a camera to take a photo. I didn’t. He lent me his Polaroid camera! “I know I can trust you to bring it back” he told me. He was correct, of course.... I kept the Polaroid in my wallet until one day I had the misfortune to fall asleep in the Subway, woke up minus wallet. That photo was the only thing I pined for.
His smile is much too friendly to be called Killer Mike! 😂
I like the fact that the cola's packaging color is purple, a mix of Red and Blue (the colors of the respective gangs that Killer brought together).

@@Slax15 No, gangs are for those with nothing else. It's cyclical. They had nothing, no good outlets (white people didn't want black boy scouts, etc) so they ended up creating gangs. Now it's up to people like Mike to stop the cycle.
Nope gangs form to push crime and push drugs instead of getting a job. You think white people dont have to start at the bottom? I grew up with gang members and spent 15 years in foster care. When you have a world view that is the size of a pin you cant see past your neighborhood. I choose not to make a life of crime and drugs, i worked my share of shitty jobs. Just because life is hard is no excuse to be lazy and blame others for your lack of drive get out. First step in being an adult is take responsibility for your actions and stop blaming others. If you do stupid shit and end up in prison you have no one to blame but yourself.

Fellow white guy here lol. I got introduced to Killer Mike when he interviewed and had a discussion with Bernie. Man, Killer Mike has been the shit in my eyes ever since. His solo music and RTJ is just dope. His activism is on point. And honestly, I wish he would have a podcast. He's smart and entertaining as hell and it would go a long way in improving the black community and having stronger allies. I'll take him visiting other shows and creating music in the mean time lol.

Why is it that people who get religion seem to think everyone else should be getting religion too, their religion btw, ever notice that? The idea that Killer Mike is this age and it is now just dawning on him that there are cultures not just African cultures but South American native tribes are being wiped out. What does he think happened in Vietnam, Tibet, Mongolia, THE FUCKING USA. I wonder of his gold was mined from a sustainable, organic, sacred heart of bleedin' jesus mine where right after worship they go pick through rocks at $1.50 per day because it's their "culture". Do their children wear Nikes too? I'm all for his activism in the black community that is a good thing what is bullshit is wasting time trying recast the jesus script and ironic as hell to watch him ponder the fate of nomdic tribes. If he wants to be humanity's modern day savior he needs to chuck the jesus script, teach people to give and receive love and compassion and perhaps ponder their buying and speniding habits and lifestyles and what happens as a chain reaction further on down the road because of it. Killer Mike I have to say you are 100% awesome and brilliant. I have associated with a gang/gangs in past and I would sit there and watch and listen and wonder WTF ...why is it people say gangsters are evil and bad. They are not. They are stuck in a crappy situation where they feel alone and vulnerable(my interpretation) so they go to where the love is and protection and a way to survive. The ones I saw or experienced were old school..mad respect for higher ups and all that...now a days its not like that.
