Honestly the Inheritance Games is one of my favorite books that I’ve read this year. I genuinely liked most of the main characters which is rare for me because usually at least one gets on my nerves. I also loved Jameson because he brings the hot mess chaotic energy that I live for

When I was reading "the inheritance games" I felt like the plot halfway through was familiar. Then I realized that reminded me of the movie knives out so when I kept reading I just couldn't stop thinking about and I just want to know if anyone else felt like that.

I experienced non-physical abuse from my father and that wishing for a physical manifestation is so real. I have a lasting fear that I'm "making things up" when I don't have "real" evidence to support pain I feel. To the point where I tore my ACL (and couldnt walk) but because the injury is INSIDE the knee and there's no blood or anything, I convinced myself I made it up. lol. But not lol. but lol

Cindy, it sounds like city of bones wasn’t for you, but if you’re interested I really recommend trying the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra clare. Most people seem to agree that it’s a lot better than the mortal instruments and I think you would like it because it centers around a really interesting and well written romance. Plus the writing is a lot better- the pacing is improved and it’s much more mature
might try it out since a lot of ppl enjoy it!

A reflection of how much we care about what Cindy is saying, is that everyone is commenting on what she's been saying, and no one is commenting on what she's been wearing
It’s heartbreaking to realise that so many victims of toxic partners wished they would be physically abused so that they could find the courage to leave the relationship. I thought I was the only one. I literally prayed for it. Thankfully I managed to leave him beforehand, but I recognise my luck. Toxic relationships should not be tolerated in books, especially when they target teen girls.
If I hadn’t read Anna Todd’s “After” which romanticised emotional/verbal abuse I wouldn’t have given my ex so many chances. I kept thinking that it would be worth it at the end because my love would heal and change him. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
And now I am the one that needs to heal.

@@withcindy Oh man it’s been years since I read those but I remember them being kind of cheesy and taking themselves super seriously as this “spy thriller chase to get an inheritance- for kids” but I really liked it back in the day. They’re a series of kid’s books, each was written by a different author and they had collectible cards and online stuff too. I think it was a campaign to get kids reading more lol. Good times

I DNFed it but honestly I felt there was not enough time or enough of a reason to change Rhen and Harper's personalities so much from the first book, I don't know if I will try to pick it back up to read the last book when it comes out or not.

About the shadows: Theres a Trilogy in Germany called “Silber” (literally silver, like the metal) by Kerstin Gier which seems to have a similar premise. You have a dream, and a door in your dream that leads to a corridor. As soon as you see the door, you know you’re dreaming and can enter the corridor and others’ dreams through their doors. I read it a while back but I think it’s a good novel :) not too much of a thriller, but it gets exciting in the final part.
I loved Silber, but I would like to add that it is very clearly aimed at teenagers and also has lots of teen angst/silliness in it. I didn‘t mind that (because I was a teen when I read it lol) but it might not be appealing to everyone...
