Hello, just found your channel. Beautiful and thank you for the information. My question is, how do you cover the. Ack side so that the wires do not show? Or is that possible?
The only way is don't use anything clear. But then your wings will be a solid color. You can use small gauge and colored wire. It can look a lot like butterfly wings.
Beautiful Barbara!! I got some fantasy film and was going to do some experiments, but this technique looks much easier and those paints are STUNNING!!! You are so clever and innovative. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas!!
+Crafty Craftin Oh thank you Chelsea! Your going to have fun with the fantasy film. You can also use transparent glass paints on the fantasy film just for another interesting look. LOL... I really miss doing the tutorials but my mom is still so sick... Im going to watch your videos tonight I see you have some new ones... I love your work Chelsea..!!!
Awww :( sorry your mom is still sick. I've been wanting to make an insect-like fairy for quite awhile with some realistic-looking wings. I did some experiments with foil, liquid clay, fantasy film, wire, no wire but can't get them to look quite right. I have some enamel glass paint, I will do some testing tonight!! Thanks for the tip. Thanks so much for all your support and the shout-outs! I love bouncing ideas with you. You always get my wheels turning!!! I wish a speedy recovery to you mom.
Thank you so much for your tutorials, you are a great teacher! You mentioned using epoxy. Please can you share where you buy the epoxy, the brand name of it please? It was the epoxy before you added the polymer clay. Tks.
All materials I bought at my local craft store. You also can find them online. Materials used Femo gel Any kind of glue to hold wire that bonds well with plastic and wire. Crazy glue, super glue. I find the gel glues work better. The Femo gel is the liquid polymer clay.
To be honest I never had thought to try mod podge. If you try it I would love to hear what it did. Interesting this would be. Thank you for commenting.
You might have another different look to it by using some pam. Liquid polymer clay is oil based and when applying on a surface of some oil the liquid polymer clay will start to separate its self. But it could even give you a neat look to it. Try it and see if its something you would like. Thank you again...
Thank you soooo much for this video! I was looking for alternatives to transparent wings. All I saw was that fantasy paper to heat up. This looks similar to them after u painted but I love the flexibility of these. more videos please :)
+precious1q Thank you and so glad you enjoyed. Yes give it a try there are so many things you can do to make wings. I got your request for more wing tutorials it just went on my list.
Please more videos about BJD, I'm from Colombia and I can not find where to learn, I am very desperate to learn but do not know where. could you recommend me something to learn? Thank you very much for your videos.
Hi, I noticed on your next video that you have added some cut glass particles instead of glitter. I have tried to find these small glass fragments. What exactly are they called and were would you purchase them? Thanks love love love your idears.
+Elizabeth Ferguson-Barr Oh yes I love the cut glass too. You can also spritz a little water down iridescent paint (lightly). I have also used some mica powder mix with liquitex matt sealer and spritz your wings. Its call Diamond Dust. I have always found it in my local craft store. I found it to be where they have all the glues and mod podge. Type in your google search Twinklets Diamond Dust it will come up and you can see what your looking for.

I bet if you wanted more controlled veins in the wings you could lay a smooth piece of aluminum over something somewhat soft, like a craft foam sheet and emboss the design you want with a fine point stylus tool or something similar
+MrSuperUrahara Your absolutely right. Its unlimited to what you can create. Thank you for viewing and Im sure many people are now thinking more of what they can do.
Hi🙋🏼, this is a nice idea for making wings, but I was wondering about a couple things. Did you ever try spraying a release product on the foil before making the wings? Also, did you ever try coloring FIMO liquid to use on the wings instead of paint? If so, how did it work out? I'm wondering if maybe dusting the foil with a little PearlEX powder before putting on the FIMO liquid might help with the sticking as well as adding a nice color to it. Have you ever tried that? There are so many possibilities with this. I've made wings out of thin tree branches in the past. They turned out very pretty and it looked as though the fairy was born from a tree. The gal that commissioned me to make the piece was very happy with final creation. I would love to make another one some time to keep for myself. I'm sure you know how it feels, it's like giving away one of your children, LOL. Anyway, GREAT VIDEO! Take care, Dee😊👍
+DeeEll86442 As for putting something on the foil to help release for me wasn't really necessary. In this video it turned out very well as to show everyone you can have something like I showed on camera but it works. Its really not even a problem at all. Yes I have colored the liquid femo and matter of fact I will be sharing a lot of things I have done. Im really pleased with the tutorial I did because the whole purpose was to get everyone to start thinking outside of there box and not depend on me to do it for them. It was really a sharing but given exercise. Thank you for viewing and commenting as to sharing your thoughts because it only adds to the exercise.
I love your idea, but I have a question: Pebeo Prisme is solvent-based and for what I know, solvent-based paints aren´t good on polymer clay, they damage the material and never dry out completely. does it really works? Greets :)
+Karen Strömer I tested the paints and I have been using them on polymer clay for some years now. If you go on my facebook page I have some pictures of the things I was testing. The pieces I still have and they are like glass and hard. I love these paints. I also did a mermaid with her tail covered in these paints. Love them. So yes they work great for me. If your in question test them out for yourself then you will know if they work. Also you might keep this in mind to every clay is different and some clays accept one thing when another one doesn't. Best advise or answer I could give anyone. Test it out I had to. Hope that helps.

I really enjoyed this video. Could you do the same thing using mod podge instead of liquid fimo?
To be honest I never had thought to try mod podge. If you try it I would love to hear what it did. Interesting this would be. Thank you for commenting.
I will give it a go and let you know ;-)
This is great, love your alternative solutions. Have you tried some pam brushed on the foil before applying the Fimo?

It's a heat gun, femo gel is the medium used for wings. You can use anything as long as it can take heat.

Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paints. Found mine at Michaels by the fine art supplies. Or you can buy them online.
Thx for your reply : ) Nice work.
