I LOVE THIS FLY! I live in CT on the lower Housatonic River and it's a great Striper Fly. I also do the Fly of the Month for a few Fly Fishing Newsletters. I'm going feature this fly in a couple of them and on my blog. When I do I'll post a link here. Again, Great Fly, Great Video.

Thanks for the great video. What is the wing material? Got the color but do not know what the material is. Thanks

It's bucktail. I use the hair from the tip as it's solid so not prone to flaring.

Nice. Got a lot of good ideas from you tying that fly. Could you recommend a good rod, reel, and line for streamer fishing

I can, but first let me ask what species you're fishing for and in what kind of water (rivers, lakes, ocean?

@@hooked4lifeca fresh water fish Smallmouth in rivers wading. Lake fishing for bass walleye I like to throw streamers, but weighted streamers seem kind of hard two cast. I was wondering if I got it sinking line and a heavier weight line I could throw unweighted streamers.

P.S. I'm using a 6 weight floating line and 6 weight rod now

@@mikeking453 6, 7s and 8s are my usual rods for these situations and fish. Normally I'm using 9 footers when wading, but I frequently opt for shorter rods when fishing off of boats.
I use floaters, intermediates and full sinkers, going as far as combining heavily weighted streamers with full sinkers when lake fishing and hitting bottom in 25' of water.
I'll overline my 6 wt. with an 8 wt. bass line in order to toss those same heavily weighted streamers. Overlining requires us to slow down and open up our casting, which is precisely what we need to do when casting heavily weighted streamers..
You're correct that full sinkers can be used to fish unweighted streamers, just be sure that the fly penetrates well, for if it is of the high drag, slow sinking variety, you would be surprised how shallow will can run despite being on the end of a full sinker.

@@hooked4lifeca ok.Thanks! I just watched a video of yours on airflow 40 plus would that be a good weighted line to get in a seven or eight weight and matching rod for weighted streamers or unweighted streamers or are there newer options on fly line
