Robin Bàiley My daughter is 8 years old. And she is starting to loose her hair. She has such curly beautiful hair and I didn't know that she needed different products than me. Now I am trying so hard to find someone who can help my babies curls come back to life! I need to find your son while I am in Atlanta. My daughter wants long hair so bad, and has had 4 hair cuts her whole life. Each time they cut so much off that we are scared to go back for the longest time.
Hi Mrs. Bailey, I just met James and Shawn today when I went for my devacut and I agree with everything she is saying about him! They are two of the most awesome and talented people with natural hair that I’ve ever met! My hair is beautiful and I appreciate them sooo much! Hi Ambria, my name is Felecia. I want to first thank you for sharing your deva cut experience with us. I've been natural for a year and because of my mixed ethnicities, my hair have three different textures 3 b/c & 4a. I also live in Atlanta and I've been seeking a deva curl stylist for months who can assist me with the right products for my hair texture and who can give cut and style my hair as I'm growing my hair long. I will be calling James asap to schedule a consultation first and if the consultation goes well, then I will schedule an appointment with James. Again, thank you for sharing your experience with us natural curly ladies.
I live in Atlanta but I'm a little scared to let other races besides my own do my hair. When I was a kid, a dominican woman tried to detangle my hair and she became openly frustrated and asked her coworkers for help in exasperation. I remember feeling embarrassed because she was making a scene and other people in the salon were looking at me. Now, I always have that in the back of my mind and don't want to be seen as the girl with unruly hair.
I feel like nowadays stylist are educating themselves on all hair to accommodate all their clients. Just be sure to do your research on them and you’ll be fine.
I have trouble with my crown area too! It's dryer and it sometimes won't grow as long as the rest of my hair. It's been giving me problems ever since I went back natural in 2008. I've tried to keep the tension off of it and making sure I keep it moisturized. Idk... I'm not giving up tho. I started getting my hair done professionally so hopefully that helps.

I am about to make an appointment for my 8 year old baby girl thanks to You! Her poor hair is suffering because I sadly didn't know that her beautiful curly but fine hair needed extra steps and love from my straight/Wavey hair. She is loosing her hair at the front of her scalp and edges, and it is breaking all over. 😔 it is also so tangled all the time and has no bounce anymore. I started putting coconut oil, argan oil, and black Jamaican castor oil in her hair to try to help it. As well as using the diva curl Low-poo & conditioner. Then I put the oils in the hair, but now I am worried the oils are to much. Also... Each time we have had it cut, they cut so much off of her hair that she cries because she wants her hair long so bad.
Anyways, sorry for rambling... btw, You have the most BEAUTIFUL tight curls! I LOVE YOUR HAIR it looks so soft, bouncy, & healthy! 😍😍😍
NoNotLikeThePornStar awww thanks!!!! Yes baby girl would probably love a deva cut because she gets to keep her length! If she has a lot of build up definitely tell the stylist so they can use the proper products. As far as the steam treatment she had something to occupy her she should be fine! To much products usage. Go back old school. My mom use to wash are hair every two weeks and grease are scalp. I believe your daughters hair will benefit by just being simple. Wash, grease, and twist that's all that baby need and you will see a big difference in sixty days. Just be simple she is to young for all the other products. Just saying sista. God Bless

your hair is amazing... I live in Nova Scotia and for curly girls like myself, we don't have a salon that specializes in deva cuts/trims. Seeing videos posted like this makes me want to fly to Toronto, ON just to get a deva cut/trim and shape of my natural hair.

I spoke with him and I loved his personality, even when it’s in email you can just tell with people how they are! I felt so sad because before he got back in touch with me I had already booked an appointment somewhere else :(. I did debate on canceling but I also loved the Instagram of the other salon too so it was dilemmas lol. Your hair is beautiful and he did an amazing job! Maybe I will meet him one day, but I hope my experience is still great like yours

Hi Ambria, I visited James salon on April 2nd for a hair trim, shape, shampoo/condition and steamed, and of course styling. I was very impressed with his professionalism, knowledge of natural curly hair, and his kindness. I did relay your message to James and he does remember you and your family. I also met Shawn who is also super nice, professional and knowledgeable about natural curly hair as well. After My visit with James, my hair felt soft and looked beautiful. I plan to return in August for a trim. I must say that James is great at what he does with curly hair. Again, thanks for sharing your video.

If you use shampoo what is wrong with using thick natural oils (with no mineral oil) on hair and scalp? I don't see a problem with this for type 4 hair. Are some of these DEVA hair rules meant for caucasian type curls?? Natural cold pressed oils wash out very very easily when cleansing hair even with a mild cleanser.

Should i get the steam package for my 8 year old? Or do you think that is to much and to hot? I know she has a lot of build up from products, the pool, cheap shampoo & conditioner, and everyday outside pollution. But if the steamer is to " hot " I am worried she wont sit for it for the whole 20 min.
PickaDillie I'd say get it....have her bring a tablet or something to occupy her time...think she'll be fine.
Love the cut, I like to wear wash and goes so I need a good cut.

You’re not supposed to use plastic caps with the steamer. If you use a plastic cap, you might as well just use a hooded dryer because it would be doing the same thing because the actual steam is not getting to the hair, just the heat from it.
