The house you see in the video is the actual house she sings. The story is true. Taylor was known to throw huge 4th of july parties back in the 2010s and her neighbors complained that she was loud just like the previous owner of the house.
I love this song because how many artists can write a song about their house this way? Also, this should be listened by people telling that she only write songs about her exes..
Love your reactions to TS songs. Please continue ❤

It is base on real people. And, Taylor does own the holiday house in Rode island.

this song is based on reality, Rebekah Harkness was the widow of a billionaire and spent her patrimony investing in ballet and having fun with her artist friends which bothered people a lot at the time. 50 years later, taylor swift bought her house and also threw a lot of parties with her artist friends and attracted paparazzi to the region, which made the neighborhood hate her presence just like they once hated rebekah's

“the last great american dynasty” follows the story of Rebekah Harkness and her mansion.
Also draws parallels between Rebekah and Taylor and comments on society's view

that line about dying the dog a key lime green always cracks me up hahah glad you enjoyed! i love when songs that tell a story have a twist in the bridge because that moment of realization is very satisfying

Hey pop! Yes, this is about the woman that used to live in her Rhode Island house. To my knowledge, she does not have a house on Long Island. She has had the holiday house in Rhode Island since 2013. It has the largest unobstructed ocean view of the entire east coast. She did buy a house in Cape Cod maybe over a decade ago, but she flipped it in maybe less than a year. I like this song!!!

This one of my all time favorite songs of hers. The beat, the cleverness in her real story telling, is just amazing.

Yep, this song is a true story! It's about Rebekah Harkness.

The house is in Watch Hill, Westerly Rhode Island. Taylor spent a fair amount on reinforcing the storm walls on the beach front side of the property…

Its a beautiful house and view...i love watch hill, as I'm from Westerly. She use to have a plaque out front her gates stating "i knew you were trouble when you walked in" classic! Lol

She did film a video at the house on Long Island (the video for Blank Space) but she doesn’t own it. They actually have events and stuff there!

I think another interpretation of the term 'the last great american dynasty', in regards to patriarchal society, is that of thinking that only a man can carry down a dynasty, implying a woman is incapable of such a thing. And since Rebekah and Bill didn't have any sons (or kids in general), there was no male descent to carry down the Harkness legacy, apart from a woman - Rebekah. That's why according to the conservative thinkers the dynasty was so-called 'ruined' and therefore, Bill (Rebekah's husband who passed away due to a heart attack) was 'the last great successor of the Harkness dynasty'.
Few parallels between Rebekah and Taylor:
    1. "It must have been her fault his heart gave out": Here, Rebekah is blamed for her husband’s death, even though she was not responsible for his demise. This presages the sexist attitudes Rebekah would be subjected to and draws an interesting parallel between her and Taylor Swift, whose experience with sexism is well documented. Remember how the media and anti-swifties used to blame Taylor for her past failed relationships, and never threw hate at any of her exes. Especially the time when 19-year-old Taylor dated 32 year John Mayer, people only criticised Taylor for the downfall of their relationship. Like seriously, how was she supposed to know, she was barely an adult. John Mayer should've known better according to his age, and yet he got away with it. (Listen to 'Dear John' from Speak Now Album by Taylor to know what I am talking about. PS: She wrote the entire Speak Now Album all by herself without any co-writers, when 19 years old).
    2. "There goes the last great American dynasty, Who knows, if she never showed up, what could've been": Taylor introduces the continuing sexist motif of women being blamed entirely for people’s own problems. Rebekah is blamed for destroying the “last great American dynasty” even though her husband’s problems were his own. The society around her, however, finds it easy to blame her for his and their own problems since she is an easy target as an unconventional woman of the time. Rebekah’s experience parallels the modern-day female experience, who to this day, are subjugated to such sexist assertions. Taylor herself has been unjustifiably accused of “ruining everything” for a person. In a 2017 civil trial, Taylor testified that DJ David Mueller had sexually assaulted her. When the jury sided with Taylor, Mueller blamed Taylor for “ruining his life,” instead of acknowledging that his own predatory actions sealed his fate.
    3. "Flew in all her Bitch Pack friends from the city": Rebekah's friend circle who was referred to as 'Bitch Pack' would have possibly gotten the same criticism that the so-called 'Taylor Swift Squad' (a name given by media, as Taylor and her friends, don't refer themselves with that title) has gotten previously. Taylor's squad includes actresses such as Jaime King, Hailee Steinfeld, Sarah Hyland, and Emma Stone. Singers such as Lorde, Selena Gomez, and Ed Sheeran. Models including Martha Hunt, Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and Cara Delevingne are also a part of the squad. Many of the people in the squad have even appeared in Taylor's “Bad Blood” music video.
    4. "Filled the pool with champagne and swam with the big names": Although this line is meant for Rebekah, we can still imply it to Taylor. Before she disappeared for a year in 2016, Taylor used to throw big 4th of July parties, ironically at her Rhode Island house - 'Holiday House' and the invite list included big names. After her hiatus in 2016, Taylor has become private as far as sharing her private life details is concerned on public platforms. She has become more careful regarding what she posts on social media. She also made a reference to a similar line in a song about Kanye called 'This is why we can't have nice things' from reputation Album.
    5. "And blew through the money on the boys and the ballet": of course, people slut-shamed Rebekah for her multiple failed marriages, the similar way they have criticised Taylor for her dating life in the early 2010s.
    6. "There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen": Obvious reference to Taylor's song called 'mad woman', which is also on 'folklore'. This song, according to Swifties' interpretation is about Sc*oter Br*un and Yael Br*un (Sc*oter's wife); K*nye W*st and Kim K*rdashian. 'Mad woman' is one of my favourite songs from folklore, as in this song, which I think a lot of swifties would agree with, Taylor predicted Kim and K*anye; Sc*oter and Yael' divorce in the bridge of the song. And guess what? They did end up getting divorced post the release of folklore. Remember the time when in 73 questions interview with Vogue Taylor said, "Karma is real"? Well, I guess she wasn't just joking with that statement. Tayvoodoo is true y'all.

I don't why people recommeding her sad sogs when you are asking for her more pop songs. I think they are not you friends. Most songs on Folklore are great but depressing. I think her most pop sounding albums are Lover, 1989, and Reputation. You will have more fun with those. Also her earlier albums like Speak Now , Fearless, and Debut Self-Titled are country but still pop. While Red real sad songs but is a pop/country sound.
Stay away from songs - Ronan, You'll Get Better Soon, unless you feel like crying into the floor.
You mentioned that you are a veteran, so I am curious to see you take on Ephiphany from Folklore. Forewarning, I consider it a very sad song and personally it make cry each time I hear it but really would like a veteran's prespective on it.
