Does anyone else imagine when Taylor sings... "there goes the loudest woman this town has ever seen" but you sing it like... "there goes the loudest woman this town SEEN!!!" in The Eras Tour?
She’s essentially saying that Rebecca Harkness was blamed for her husbands heart attack and in turn, the end of the Standard Oil dynasty. She was outcast from high society and she ended up doing her own thing with the money. She invested a lot into professional ballet (in nyc I think) and throwing lavish parties. She then kind of compares her to herself since Taylor get scrutinized for everything she does.

Also, the “holiday house” that Rebecca and her husband bought in Rhode Island is the beach house that Taylor ended up buying years later.
Taylor bought the house after sitting “quietly” for so long because it was owned by extremely wealthy, but not famous people. After Taylor bought it, all the rich neighbors were furious because the paparazzi and swifties would go to that beach trying to see her, and she had Fourth of July parties with tons of celebrities. They were annoyed at the loss of their “quiet” beach neighborhood. Hence Taylor being the loudest person the town had ever seen, and her having a marvelous time “ruining everything” by just enjoying her life there.
I take it that Rebecca flew her original friends to RI to play because the locals shunned her

I live in St Louis and when I saw the Eras movie in the theater everybody sang this song at the top of their lungs. "Her Salt Box house on the coast took her mind off of ST LOUIS!". It was really cool, thinking about it now reminds me of when I saw Phish here in St Louis on the night the Blues won the Stanley Cup and the band played Gloria by Laura Branigan (The Blues have this whole thing with this song) and everybody was screaming and crying, it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. That was a really good day.

One thing that strikes me about Antonoff is how he can play piano and guitar well and also here, percussion. And Taylor even when she was younger was so solid on rhythm guitar, you never see her play lead lines, on piano she just plays chords but so good. And her voice while not powerful is very pleasing and always in key. I paid only passing attention to her prior to this tour but am very, very impressed with her lyrics. I was not familiar with this song but wow, great lyrics, what a story. Did you look at the Long Pond version of "August?" I love the part where it goes, "back when we were still changing for the better," and the next half dozen lines. D-G-Am-E-D, so simple but so beautiful. Antonoff with some nice strumming on that.

It is now several time you appear in my feed and I find your reaction videos on TS quite smooth. It’s one of my favorite songs from Taylor. That piano in the chorus just gets me every-time as well as the “then it was bought by me” lyric. It also is a wonderful performance during the eras tour and highly suggest watching that if you have a chance. Thank you for your content and your charitable contribution to food banks this month. When she moved into the house, they tried to impose a Taylor Swift tax! Her neighbors weren’t happy expecting fans, paparazzi, news stations camped out everywhere ruining their neighborhood. A few fans from time to time, and stalkers unfortunately, have shown up but not like what happens at her NYC residence.

Historically, it was actually a cat that Rebecca dyed. I don't know if Taylor switched it purposefully, or simply got that detail wrong. (Knowing Taylor, it was probably on purpose. Maybe it seemed less mean to a dog than a cat?) Also, there is always a 4th person in the Long Pond sessions, but we never see anything but the top of his head in the background. I've assumed something like a sound engineer (or whatever makes sense in this context). I don't know if he might have something to do with the tambourine?
BTW: At some point you will want to do yourself a favor and simply watch the whole movie. If you do, I hope you will let us know what you thought. (I'm assuming you wouldn't do a whole movie reaction vid but, if you did, I'd be here for it. Hmmm...this gives me an idea: bring in a friend who doesn't know Taylor's music and watch the movie with them for a reaction video. Swifties love watching someone experience Taylor's deep cuts for the first time, and the Long Pond movie is an excellent into.)
