Expeditions is a great way to accidentally find deck concepts. I went 7-1 with a Jinx/Vi/Investigator deck, beating stuff like aggro and bannerman in the process. I ended up making the deck for real to use in ladder, and I'm in the process of testing/refining it. It's funny, because putting it together, it seems like Riot may have had this concept in mind when making the investigator cards, and it's a fun lore synergy. Expeditions is a great way to possibly find hidden gems no one has played with.
@@QuickMoba I don't think its too bad, especially when you compare it to similar card games - especially since you get essentially two expedition runs for every one you purchase and since you get a free expedition token each week and they take so long. 2000 shards isn't that bad and the rewards you gain make up for it IF you can do well in them and if you spend gold its about $2 for a run. I think it really incentives players to get better at the mode. I WILL say though that I would love to see a free mode with no rewards for people who just enjoy the mode.

Thanks for the help! I've played other CCG's off and on over the years and briefly tried LoR almost a year ago at this point. New / returning player here. Thank you for this video. I've tried watching a few different deck-building videos, but yours was the only one that did a good job at “teaching” how to build a deck. What I mean is, when you teach someone something new, you have to break it down in a way that gives it to them at pieces at a time. Especially for something that can get complicated. You broke down the different kinds of decks and then followed along as you explained how you select cards and what to do next. Something else you did, with this knowledge intentional or not, was break up the learning segments with quick jokes. Thank you for the detailed guide! I am currently playing hearthstone but I got hooked with LoR. I would like to see a guide explaining the features of each region. A good way to approach this could be to categorize the different combinations of the regions into deck archetypes (i.e. Region1+Region2= midrange/control, R1+R3= aggro). A challenge I had while watching this video is to figure out which regions will have synergy with a specific champion or deck archetype. This will help new players, like me, a lot !

Hey man, new sub here. Good tips! You spent too much time on the champions (you gave too many examples haha,) and I wish you also emphasized that it's impossible to build a perfect deck that counters everything or has no weaknesses. But overall I think you summed things up nicely. I hope you can also make another video for CCG/LoR beginners about the realities of win rates and the strength of decks and cards. Because it's not emphasized in tips or tutorials in the game, I think many beginners don't realize just how normal it is to lose in a CCG. They'd have to read or hear about win rates from someone else, and even then, they may not really understand how even the best decks piloted by the best players still lose 40% to 45% of their games. For the rest of us who are not world class players, achieving a 51% win rate over a large enough sample size is an ongoing challenge. Because LoR and other digital CCGs are easier to access, set up and play than physical CCGs, losing streaks are more apparent, and thus can be more discouraging. Swim made a great video where he advised players to focus not on wins and losses, but on making right and wrong decisions. In other words, feel good when you make the right play and feel bad when you make the wrong play, regardless of the outcome. Maybe you can include a match analysis or even just a look back at a single play to emphasize that as well. You can also emphasize judging the game, or certain decks or cards using long term experience or data instead of initial impressions or a few matches (and just how many that "few" can be). I have been guilty of this several times myself. Everyone's free to say what they want of course, but I started enjoying the game much more when I followed Swim's advice and accepted that losing is perfectly normal, instead of blaming an "overpowered" card or deck after a loss or losing streak.

Um, any tips on how to counter zed stand-alone / zed fiora combo while playing Undying Combat? Like which cards should I mulligan away? I'm currently in Silver II and I'm looking to hit at least Gold IV this season, but these decks tend to get in the way. PS: your tips on mulligan could be useful as a video.
@Lleyton Paul Used to play AQW, not really grinding much there now. Back to your response, I'm worried about deny. 4 mana card onto a 7 mana card feels super bad. My deck runs 2 vengeance and atrocities and 1 ruination. How would you play around this? Because these spells I play have a higher rate of being countered by deny, and once it happens, I cannot refortify my board (because I'm out of mana). I've ever played an atrocity into Will of Ionia too and that's why I'm perplexed by stand-alone/unyielding spirit.
Are you seeing that deck enough for it to be something you are trying to tech against? Not every deck will have a way to beat every deck but if that is a majority of what you are seeing you might want to play something with more interaction for it, things like Will of Ionia or obliterate fish. When I was seeing that deck a lot I played demacia/ionia heimerdinger lux with will, detain, purify (for the monks) and did really well against it
Started playing a few weeks ago and already at the point where i have about a dozen decent decks I'm happy with. I've come from 8 years of hearthstone and it just feels incredible to play a card game that doesn't hold your while also stifling creativity. One teeeny weeeny tiny little thing that's bugged me :( saw the special rules option in deck building and knew I wanted to start making triregion singleton decks asap! They were some of my favourite decks to play in HS and was super disappointed to find out they're a limited run gauntlet thing? I can't see why they couldn't just be in the normal game, having to run single copies seems a fair punishment for getting 3 regions
Yeah but you get them. There is no way to make a deck building guide specifically to every player based on their specific collection level. LoR is INCREDIBLY new player friendly with how much stuff they give you so quikcly. I do have another guide on here on the fastest ways to grow your collection though which might help
I played MTG for years and so when starting this game I was hella confused. Not knowing what spells do and getting attacked when it's my turn. I'm all like, wtf? I learned deck building from magic so I think it's just a matter of learning the rules and learning how cards work together in this game.
Not always, just depends on what you are looking to build. Ionia, Frel, P&Z, Demacia all have solid removal options as well they are just different. If you are needing the life gain because of a burn meta then Shadow Isles is going to be the best bet but they arent the ONLY regions with good control options.
im a complete beginner, i started yesterday and this video its a lot of characters, do you have any tips on how to build a deck with really beginner cards??
so im thinking an shadow isle ionia deck using zed and kalista, i am using a lot of death effects and recurring creatures and the effect where they die at end of turn. Whats a good base for this?
There are decks like that, things like shark chariot and elusives are strong. Stuff like this could be a good base but its an older deck though the cards still work - ua-cam.com/video/QdhzD2tDask/v-deo.html
Whenever you feel you are ready honestly. Usually when you play against things you think are interesting you can try to recreate those as a place to start
How do you counter corina/corona vi? It feels sooooooo hard. I want to test myself so Saucy Mailman, if you read this just tell me the champion(s) and nothing else
@@SaucyMailman I have once again come for your deckbuilding support.... Since you like my ''test'' how about another one? This time champs that counter lux karma( and please no burn deck, if we are about to win those matchups.. at least win with respect )
Am I a bad person if I immediately built a burn deck after I finished the tutorial and got a card that made my brain go, "lets build a burn deck. If you combine phantom pranksters and other shadow isles with the spider archetype and some low cost cards and a few high you create a balance between spam summoning, having necessary spells to destroy your own monsters and attacking, and high cost trucks that finish without drawing out the game for too long." I know people that no matter the card game will HATE burn decks, so I ask again, am I a bad person?
Look at ALL my new videos, they all have timestamps. This video is 7 months old before there were timestamps implemented in youtube so they didnt eexist.
Well Actually, i am sad, no one tell me how to buy unowned card, but now i accidentally found it, i played since beta and i got tired of waiting a yasou loot, which is actually can be bought 😌 im so dumb, just buying card that i already owned, got no resources to buy my favourite Tahm Kench 😭
Appreciate the video, however, I will stick to poker. After six days playing AI, was easily dismantled playing pvp. After about 15 minutes watching your video was like taking physics with a beginning algebra education. Good luck not for me.
Yeah its not meant to be a true challenge instead of playing against people, AI games are there just to teach you the basics so that you can play against other people
8:35 I knew Fiora was OP in League but Riot.. WHY?! Really?! Balance Team, you suck *more* than Activision's, well, both are owned by Tencent but that doesn't affect it.
Because just showing gameplay is proven to not retain viewer attention and results in lower average view duration and less views in general. The majority of viewers on UA-cam want to see the person talking rather than just a screen of gameplay.
Lol - nothing wrong with using someone elses deck and you will definitely see fine results from that.
Yeah no idea if that will be a thing, I stopped playing the game about 6 months ago now so not really sure
Just completed my office work. And here I'm cutting my vegetables and watching saucy mailman videos. 😆.
👍👍👍 Good One.
Hey hopefully the office work went well!
@@SaucyMailman 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah sort of.
great video. Information helped me alot.
That is waht I like to hear!
Very good and interesting video, watched on one breath
Thanks so much!
very good and helpful video for new players.
Thanks! I am glad it was helpful! :D
Great video!
Thank you so much!
Very useful, thanks!!
Thank you! I am glad it helped!
Thank you man ❤
No problem at all friend :D
@saucy Mailman, I use the leviathan/Swain combo deck...
Very nice! Its solid
Thanks for the info. I am only 6 days into this game. I have so many I want to try but cannot get champs and epics fast enough.
You'll get them! :D
@@SaucyMailman Got 2 champ wildcards with my rewards today. Bought a couple Gangplank to try him.
very good explanation
Thank you so much! I am glad you like dit!
This is a good guide, just one tiny winy problem as a new player I dont have 90% of these cards
I have a bunch of new player guides on my website here to help too www.saucymailman.com/guides
This is why you do tutorials... It's especially well made in LoR.
Do you consider the removal tools in shadow isles to be auto include in a control deck specifically vile feast and withering wail.
Not always, just depends on what you are looking to build. Ionia, Frel, P&Z, Demacia all have solid removal options as well they are just different. If you are needing the life gain because of a burn meta then Shadow Isles is going to be the best bet but they arent the ONLY regions with good control options.
Great video. Thank you
Thank you so much!
I built a Fizz + Lee sin deck while listening to this (They have the same level up condition A.K.A casting spells)
Yeah they do :)
@@SaucyMailman it actually works pretty well. This may have been a fluke might not have been, but I stomped a Fiora + Shen deck last night
im a complete beginner, i started yesterday and this video its a lot of characters, do you have any tips on how to build a deck with really beginner cards??
The tips are going to be the same honestly no matter the size of your collection
so im thinking an shadow isle ionia deck using zed and kalista, i am using a lot of death effects and recurring creatures and the effect where they die at end of turn. Whats a good base for this?
There are decks like that, things like shark chariot and elusives are strong. Stuff like this could be a good base but its an older deck though the cards still work - ua-cam.com/video/QdhzD2tDask/v-deo.html
BIG thanks ❤
B I G welcome!
❤
@@adimox9463 You are awesome :)
thanks bro
Very helpful
Thank you! I’m glad it helped!
When should I start building a deck ? I Just started playing this game 3 days ago
Whenever you feel you are ready honestly. Usually when you play against things you think are interesting you can try to recreate those as a place to start
this man has no soul he loves fizz and teemo🤷♀️
What does a soul do? Doesn't sound very powerful
How do you counter corina/corona vi? It feels sooooooo hard. I want to test myself so Saucy Mailman, if you read this just tell me the champion(s) and nothing else
Ooo interesting test. Champions themselves and nothing else eh? Karma / Tf / Ezreal / Fizz
@@SaucyMailman Dang.. out of the 12 champion shards you mean i own 2 xDD. But i will eventually get there thanks for noticing
@@SaucyMailman I have once again come for your deckbuilding support.... Since you like my ''test'' how about another one? This time champs that counter lux karma( and please no burn deck, if we are about to win those matchups.. at least win with respect )
I've made a control deck with all the annoying bs you can't kill easily.
(Frostbite+Stun+Regenerative trolls)
Hell yeah!
Saucy indeed
I try to be!
Thank you, you have saved me from my self
That is what I am here for !
1,000th like, nice im special
great vid
You are the most special!
@@SaucyMailman eyyy a reply from the man himself, this calls for a subscribe! I hope u make more LoR content cuz I recently started and I like it
@@Unknown50677 Well now I am blushing :)
Not bad at all! Everyone likes diferent things in card games
The only card game i played is Yu gi oh, thanks to this video
Hey I am super glad it helped!
What do you mean by "multiples"? I don't understand english very well, so pls help me
Multiples mean more than one. One card would be a single and multiple would be more than one.
C I T Y B R E A K E R edit: why saucy i knew this was while ago but still WHY
I dont know what you mean?
@@SaucyMailman city breaker is a terrible card. Why did you run it?
Im playing a tham kench deck
Very nice, he is a solid champ
if you want your video to have "chapters" you need to write the timeStamp before the title of the timeStamp
Well at least now you know! I am always around to help with stuff
Serious question, my pee is green what can that mean? Should i go see a doctor?
I definitely would
@@SaucyMailman thanks he said i got an std. Apparently Using an old used flashlight that was thrown in a trash can is a bad idea.
First
You are fast!
Appreciate the video, however, I will stick to poker. After six days playing AI, was easily dismantled playing pvp. After about 15 minutes watching your video was like taking physics with a beginning algebra education. Good luck not for me.
Its definitely not for everyone :)
yea the AI isnt the best, i build some random deck and still won
Yeah its not meant to be a true challenge instead of playing against people, AI games are there just to teach you the basics so that you can play against other people
8:35 I knew Fiora was OP in League but Riot.. WHY?! Really?! Balance Team, you suck *more* than Activision's, well, both are owned by Tencent but that doesn't affect it.
Hahahaah this made me laugh, thank you
Why do youtubers fill the screen with their faces, rather than just show the game and explain? It's distracting when trying to take in information.
Because just showing gameplay is proven to not retain viewer attention and results in lower average view duration and less views in general. The majority of viewers on UA-cam want to see the person talking rather than just a screen of gameplay.
Why build deck when you can just steal from mogwai 🧐
Lol - nothing wrong with using someone elses deck and you will definitely see fine results from that. I personally just have always just enjoyed deck building more than just winning in card games, it is what I enjoy the most is all and I have had a lot of people ask me for a guide on how to do the same better :)
