    Nice collection, I had to show this video to my wife. See dear, I DON'T have too many engines. I like the "440" build. I've done a couple myself. Never considered the "436" build though. Those 882 heads you can cut for 2.02/1.60 valves. I've done a couple of them, never had them flow tested.

    Good inventory of engines. If I needed a motor, I'd be contacting you. A test I'd love to see is a 454-468 87 octane hydraulic roller build. I'm interested not for the cost savings on fuel but I can get 87 octange ethanol free around here realtively easily. I have had some carb problems with the standard 93 after letting the car sit a while. 87 ethanol free has been great in my C10. I'd also be curious if a more modern chamber head like the AFRs are worth more on the lower octange. Straub has posted 496 87 octane builds. I'm into stick shift street cars, and in my opinion a healthy 454 in a Chevelle would have plenty of power.

      It makes me sad but a lot of the motors I buy was grandpa's, Motor out of his chevelle, he sold the car but kept the motor Cus. Someday he was going to go build it and drag race it and just didn't happen , I say it makes me sad but I always think about that story. And think Grandpa would be smiling if he saw his 396 or 427, throwing it down on the dino/ screaming and actually did made it to the track

      Crazily enough my grandfather pulled a 402 out of a 70 monte Carlo in the early 80s and replaced it with a 350 just because no one wanted the gas guzzler 402 and his goal was to go racing with the 402.

      I am that grandpa, and have been trying to get a motor going,but two machine shops here that are crook's and stole money. I got back screwed up motors with no balance. And not finished! Dallas is the closest real shop and I'm at central La. I want a dz motor like we run in the 70's high compression, solid cam to match the compression. 11 to 1. Or 12 to 1. I can us either one.

    I bought an 85 RV for the 454 and 400 TH trans, the odometer shows 24,859 on it,
    there's also a plate on the driver side of the block with specs on crank turn and such,
    I can't understand why the plate is on the block or why the crank would've been turned if it's the factory 454,
    I've never even pulled a valve cover to see the condition
    I've put about 2 miles on it just on my road after the install in my 85 K20.

    Great video and you have a nice set of motors. I has a 327 in my 65 impala with double hump heads. What set up would u recommend to get at least 400 to 425 to the wheels?

    • @dzperformance7360
      @dzperformance7360  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching,, If you want 425 at the wheels, means you need about 500hp at the flywheel, I would have 2.02/ 1.60 vales and a basic bowl blend on the Double hump heads. And Edelbrock RPM intake and a stroker kit to increase your cubic inches from 327 to 383, 9.1to1 no more than 10to1cr. Heavier car like that you probably want to keep your cam duration around 230@.050. My experience tells me that would get you in the ballpark

    • @dzperformance7360
      @dzperformance7360  5 місяців тому

    What kind of oil pump do you run on your street big blocks with standard clearances?

    • @dzperformance7360

      If the oil clearance is right where it's supposed to be, I'll usually just run a standard oil pump. and 10w30,If it's a little wide I'll run a high volume, With thicker oil,

    Hey Nick I have a stock 1992 model 454 tbi motor.Its a low mileage good solid motor.If I change the cam to a 232 bootlegger hyd roller cam and put a air gap dual plane manifold 750 holley and headers what kind of power do you think it would make? It has the small port heads on it.I might blend the bowls and open the exhaust up on the heads.just your basic low compression 454 with a cam!

    • @dzperformance7360
      @dzperformance7360  5 місяців тому +1

      That 232 bootlegger is a hell of a great cam,, I've tested on that one many times, If you've got 7.9 to1 compression, you'll be really pushing the boundaries of not enough compression,, But it would still work,, Most experts won't give you a guess because they don't want to look like a fool. But I guess all the time,, If everything else is correct. I believe it'll make 480 horsepower and 520 pounds of torque

    • @dzperformance7360
      @dzperformance7360  5 місяців тому +1

      That cam you're asking about every time I use it small block or big block,, It makes 15 more foot-pounds Than horsepower

    • @dzperformance7360

      @dzperformance7360  5 місяців тому

      The reason I asked is they made 088 heads that came on later model 502 engines and they made 188 heads that came out on a 70 Chevelle 454 kinda like the 990 heads which one makes the best power?
