Oscar is such a pretty boy! I have a Hentzi but she’s about half an inch! A little bitty! I’m in for a big wait before I’m sexing that one! Loved seeing all the molts. That’s my favorite part of doing T maintenance is finding a molt!

Do you ever handle any of them? I've always wanted to hold one but I'm always too scared to pick one up. I currently have a jumping spider who I am also a little afraid to handle however she/he is adorable and I'm beginning to get that courage to want to hold them

Mexican Black Velvet T is your favorite... but mine is either the Pink Toe T or the OBT. (Orange baboon Tarantula.) Also what should I name my Pink Toe T juvenile female... but don't say Gwen, because my now dead male Pink Toe T was named Gwen.

Only time iv been haired by a tarantula is by running the molt under water to find out the gender😭! rash stayed on my fingers for days. So I feel you must still be careful.

How long can a chilean rosey go without food? I've had her for about 1/2 months and she's not eaten once since I've had her.... love the content btw. helped me loads in my new tarantula keeping hobby
When I first got my rosey, she didn't eat for 6-8 mo, until she molted. After that her appetite was great. But it's normal for them to go on long fasts. I've heard of some going an entire year between meals

Is there anyway that could be a Aphonopelma chalcodes? I have one that looks just like that and before he molted he looked just like Oscar same docile temperament too. Maybe I was misinformed on what mine was but either way super gorge T!!!
I’m sure, we don’t have those here. But I will say A chalcodes mature males look very similar with the black legs and everything. Less red tho!

I really want to keep tarantulas but I live in south africa and they are really hard to come by but I'm hoping to get one next year when I move to the US
so many of my favourite tarantulas come from southern africa lol. pterinochilus, ceratogyrus, heterothele, harpactira, encyocratella, augacephalus...all my favourite genera and theyre all from south africa or mozambique or namibia or tanzania etc. its the one region i would love to visit most of all to see tarantuals in the wild. but I do get that its very very big and tanzania is a long way from south africa

My first tarantula, (B.Hamorii) I named it Archie.. first molt was destroyed, second molt I found out Archie was female lol.. oh well.. I still call her Archie.. Oscar is very lucky he found his way to you!

How do u tell if it's mature
males get their bulbs on the end of their pedipalps when they mature when before the pedipalps just had smooth ends. and also most males will get tibial hooks which are little hooks on the inside of their first set of legs but not every species gets these. most do tho.
for females theres no way to know when theyre mature enough to breed. most ppl say if theyre 3/4 of their full size then theyll be mature
