I have 2 suggestion, if we are gonna do some Metallica Stuff.
I could suggest a lot, but these 2 songs I think you would like.
      ua-cam.com/video/wsrvmNtWU4E/v-deo.html
"Whiskey in the jar" you watched another band do that a few months back, this is Metallica's cover of that.

"Master Of Puppets" I had an Old Friend that I dont see any more tell me one time "this song is about being addicted to Cocaine" But I feel it can be a much Broader Reference to overall Addictions.

Meaning of the lyrics: Just for a bit of background. James grew-up in a Christian Scientist family. His Dad left the family when he was 13 or 14 and never came back. And part of the reason why was his Mom's devotion to Christian Science. And the cornerstone of that religion is they heal through prayer only...and his Mom got breast cancer when he was 16 and never was treated by a Doctor. From ages 16 - 17 James watched his Mom basically rot away. And even though James's Dad was still alive, he never even came back and was adopted by his sister as a 17 year old minor. His Dad came back after he became famous.

When I saw it was you and the song was Unforgiven I couldn't click fast enough! I knew you would appreciate and love it! I was surprised you'd never heard it. It was all over the radio back in the early 90's. This is off of their very successful and commercial "Black album". I'm guessing you were too young and since haven't really listened to much of a Metallica based radio station, lol! So glad you appreciated it. It's very personal to James. It sounds so good cause they had the famous producer Bob Rock produce it and he wanted it perfect. Him and all the band members fought and fought making this album. Tempers were high and tension was everywhere. Bob said James worked very hard on his vocals to sound good and it shows. Here on UA-cam you can watch "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica ". Its all about making the Black Album and all the struggles as well as the highs from accomplishment. Once again, so glad you liked it!! I knew you would!!

"The Unforgiven" is James Hetfield's most personal track of all Metallica songs. The song explores James' tumultuous childhood. His dad left the family when he was thirteen for no apparent reason. Just the atmosphere of this song has me choking up, my moms funeral was just yesterday and I'm realizing today that songs like this, while unrelated can still get inside easily .....oh & best Metallica songs? I'm glad you asked , they are leper messiah & disposable heroes. One about religion & one about war. Kinda like apple pie here in America ;) No leaf clover is one that I'll bet would leave you speechless . Spoiler = it's performed with an orchestra ! My apologies Mr. Bentley , I hadn't seen your description before posting mine. btw , gonna order some throwbackness socks, seriously like the merch you've put together, it's nice to you not doing the typical "I sell shirts" approach. I appreciate the diversity. Keep doing your thing & demonstrating open mindedness to everything bro!

I'm a 45-year-old female who was raised in a cult family that i left a decade ago. Recently, my mom had two strokes and i tried to re-establish a connection, only to be reminded there was never one there to begin with. This was one of my favourite songs as a teenager, and i'm only just now really beginning to deal with the fallout of that reality--they adopted me to be 'good Christians' ('good' is relative, and 'Christian' meaning 'automatically righteous', which is specious as hell), but my prior circumstances meant i would never reach their desires, and they effectively abandoned me.
Listening to this song hit me in the feels, but it kind of helped me remember that i CAN deal with this--i've really been doing it my whole life, so i don't need to see it as this big struggle so much as just accept it and let it roll. I forgave them my whole life, but they really didn't deserve that. So they'll just have to fall into that category of 'Unforgiven', and i can move on.
Sorry to be so personal. This just kinda got me.
I used to do lots of Metallica and Crue and Poison and GNR on the piano. Might be time to dust one off and upload a cover...

Sadly THIS SONG relates to me on a VERY DEEP LEVEL!! Growing up my parents "beat me" and called it "discipline"!! THEY DEMANDED I constantly be polite, THEY DEMANDED I show them respect, and THEY DEMANDED I be honest with them at all times!!
Before you think I am an ungrateful jerk.....understand ME CLEARLY HERE!!! I am the oldest of two boys, and in my parents eyes I could NEVER do anything right, while my baby brother could NEVER do anything wrong!!!! So when I made a mistake I was beat up for it......and when my baby brother made a mistake....I WAS BLAMED FOR IT AND BEAT UP AGAIN FOR IT!! All while he "skated by" NEVER made to be responsible for his own mistakes!!! No I was always punished for both his mistakes and mine!!
Still further (to this day at the age of 56 years old now) my parents have labeled me as "stupid", "worthless", "a liar", "a drunk" and "crazy" as well as an "idiot"! So since the age of 5 years old (like I said I am 56 years old now) I have basically had to "raise myself" and "protect myself" all my life, and frankly I could never depend on OR trust my family for a damn thing at all other than the foreknowledge that they would fail me every time, all the time!!! Then when I was 15 years old I began to question why I respected them, when they NEVER showed me any respect at all!! And the older I got the more I questioned things like "being honest" when they STILL call me a liar to my face even when I am being TOTALLY OPEN AND HONEST WITH THEM!!! In fact my brother lies to them all the time and they buy into his lies constantly without questioning his integrity or character or motives!! My baby brother in other words plays them (our parents) like a cheap fiddle, and they buy into it with every word he says!!
Little do my parents KNOW how many times I saved my brother's life!! I beat bigger kids up (and got beat up by bigger kids) to protect HIM!! My baby brother was allergic to bee stings and I must have gave him his medication more than three or four DOZEN TIMES, because of fear that I would be some how BLAMED if he'd died!!! AND STILL my baby brother "thanked me" by doing things TO ME, then blaming ME for hitting him for stuff that HE CAUSED to begin with......and I was punished and beat up some more for his lies and deceptions!!
But like I say in my family I was ALWAYS AT FAULT AND ALWAYS THE ONE WHO WAS BLAMED AND BEAT UP FOR IT!!!
Today I have no ties to my own family!! I have no trust of most people and very few friends because of how people have treated me most of my life (I used to get beat up by 7 members of my high school football team as well when I was a kid too)!! So I have no trust or faith in people in general.........but my only comfort is my taste in music!!! And music has been my only release from the real world.......and for me I AM........The Unforgiven!!!!
Because today I am the bitter old man who has more regrets than anything else in my life!! I have never really known love, joy, bliss or true happiness, and most people tell me to my face I that I am rude, cold and bitter in my views of people and the world around me!!!! Some people want to see the world burn.......and in some respects I am one of them!!

That's something that many huge fans even miss because the title is 'The Unforgiven' (the one who fucked him up as a kid, I think his dad) but when the line is written, it's like when a King or Queen is giving someone a new title "I dub thee___", so he is saying it in this way.

The lead singer, James Hatfield was raised in Christian Science, an ultra religious atmosphere and forced to follow very strict rules. If I remember correctly his father left at an early age and his mother died as a result of refusing medical care. Very tragic story, this song is the story of his childhood pain and how he has had to struggle his whole life because of it.

I relate to this song. especially in ethnic cultures you definitely have that ethnic guilt. culture defines you and keeps you in a box and a lot of people stay in very unhappy families never achieving their dreams because they're afraid of losing their ethnic identity. their sense of self is so tied to their family that it's just a bad cycle that never ends until you finally have the courage to break out of it. but in doing that (at least in my experience) you lose everything but sometimes you have to lose everything in order to gain yourself.
