AuTrain River Paddling - in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

- This video features my wife and I paddling the AuTrain River in Au Train, Michigan. We started at Cameron Crossing, just north of Lake AuTrain along Forest Lake Rd. We then spent the next 3.5 hours canoeing this beautiful river, eventually ending up in beautiful Lake Superior. This video highlights some of the beauty that this river provides for those who decide to kayak, canoe, SUP, or paddle otherwise. We did not use a livery service this time as the canoe we used came free with the cabin we rented. It just so happened that the cabin was on the river as well, which made for a super convenient river experience.
If you want an awesome Upper Peninsula experience in the Munising / AuTrain / Marquette area, I highly suggest checking out autrainrivercottage.com . Our experience renting our cabin from them was great! The owner is super friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area and the great things to see there.

See you outdoors!
Intro music for this video was written and recorded by myself.
Other music in this video came from the UA-cam Creator Studio.
Beautiful clear waters, I used to live not far from Duluth/Superior. Loved the area. Thank you for sharing such gorgeous sights.
Thanks for watching :-)
Nice video, I love the michigan rivers
Some pretty dang artful and peaceful cinema work there, friend. I love the U.P., and northern Michigan in general. I don't get there very much anymore, it's God's country over there for sure. Safe paddles!
Cool trip! Pike photobomb was funny. Lol
Excellent video.
Thanks! :-)
Cool video ! thanks for sharing it . Time to cook.
Nice video. Looked like a great trip.
Take care,
Al
It was amazing! Thanks for watching :-)
Very nice! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching :-)
Great video! As always.
if you paddle that river around the 4th of July or any weekend with really hot weather it's just drunk kids everywhere. makes it interesting trying to avoid them. just chaos. and they may have been looking at you strange because that river mouth can produce one of the worse rip currents in the world. students from Michigan Tech come down to study it on a regular basis I guess.
lol, I guess ignorance is bliss :-)
I don't usually like these type of videos that you've put out. But this one seem to be different. I really liked it. Can't wait to see what comes out next!
Thanks! :-)
Just canoed this last weekend and had the whole river to ourselves. It was soooooo beautiful and calm!!! I love this video as I can relive the natural beauty again and again anytime I'd like. Thank you for sharing! :)
Pretty cool little river!!
I’m glad to see this video
wonderful video man!
Thanks! If you ever want to come to Michigan to do some canoeing, feel free to hit me up :-)
mellow vibes from Oscoda
My parents have had a cabin on the lake for 40 years. The Autrain River is 16.8 miles yet if you walked from the shore of the mouth of the river to Lake Superior, you'd only go about 1.5 miles. That's how winding that river really is.
Been thinking about this river lately. Back in the early 90’s my uncle took my cousin and I on a trip down the river.
It was some sort of poker run from a bar. Think it was called froggy’s bar. Anyway we ended up in Lake Superior and it was not very calm. Trying to turn that canoe around was interesting 😅.
Yep, awesome!
Love your videos! Wish you still did them!
Be careful on what day you go. We went this Saturday and it was party central. We had fresbees being thrown over our heads , there must have been a hundred people just being wild. I would not go on a weekend. It's not as quiet as it once was was
Love the music!
Hey Dave I live in Munising Michigan
Do you think it would be deep enough to do on a paddle board?
Beautiful up there, I recently read that the Munising area of the UP is quickly becoming a hot tourist area too. What size canoe did you take up there?
I believe this was a 14' canoe. It was included in the cabin we rented along the river.
