Pictured Rocks Kayaking

- In this video I take you along while I kayak Pictured Rocks near Munising Michigan. This is by far one of my absolute favorite kayaking experiences EVER! This video journals my experience throughout the day and is my best attempt to highlight the beauty of this national lake shore.
This video is split up into a few parts, and here's why...
We used Uncle Ducky's Paddling Michigan as our guide service. (www.paddlingmic...) They offer several options to paddle Pictured Rocks, and so I thought it would be appropriate to split the video up into segments that would reflect the type of trip you might experience should you book with them.
The trip we chose was the "paddle and hike". This took us along roughly 14 miles of beautiful Lake Superior shoreline, and then ended with a 3 mile hike to a pickup point. In the middle, we stopped for lunch at Mosquito Beach.
Some trips they offer just go to the point where you eat lunch and then return home. In my opinion, you miss out on a lot if you just paddle halfway and then back.
If you ever want to paddle this, I highly suggest long sleeve everything as the stable flies are AWFUL! Whatever wasn't covered, they attempted to bite.

Thank you for sharing your experience on our Paddle and Hike kayak tour! The best tour we offer!
I'm an amputee David so these vids are the only way I get to experience this beauty. Thankyou!
You got some great footage! The Munising area is definitely a Michigan treasure. I'm headed up to Paradise in a little over a week for their blueberry festival and some camping. Can't wait!
I was just there a few weeks ago too! Eat some smoked fish for me :-)
You got it.
One of your best videos yet David. Incredible!
Thank you for sharing.
Great vid. Thanks. I’ve always wanted to do this but seeing the waves in your video has me rethinking. 😂😂😂

@Andrew Romeo no one cares spam somewhere else 🖕
Looks like fun. I will be hiking the NCT through there next week. Glad I got a new hammock with a bug net for this trip. Mark
Almost booked that trip a few weeks ago. Gonna need to for sure now
You won't regret it :-)
I usually hike the Lakeshore Trail, but have taken one of the shorter kayak trips before. It's a totally different perspective being on the water. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! The color of the water was beautiful! Thanks for taking us along. :)
Excellent video! It felt like I was along for the ride.
This is my goal. Kayaking pictured rocks and camping along the trail. Starting muuuuuch smaller though.
I did this same Uncle Duckys kayak tour!
Wow I can't believe they had you out in those big waves. Looks like the tandoms handled them well. I've done a few open water paddles , but conditions were ideal.
Beautiful, Thanks!
great trip, ty for sharing
I did a shorter trip today! Nice!
Awesome vid.. thanks for sharing..
Thanks for watching :-)
I'm speechless, this looks amazing, and I have watching some of your other videos, they are all great! Btw I just wanted to say your "Contact" form on your website seems to be broken and I'd recommend looking into that.
It truly was amazing. Thanks for the heads up about the contact info too. If you need to PM me feel free to do so at davidspassage@gmail.com
My husband and I are doing this in a few weeks and plan to camp at chapel beach one night and then kayak back to miners beach the next day. We are avid kayakers and have great lakes experience.... with that being said - any advice?
That sounds awesome. How was it?
I just booked out trip for July! This vlog got me even more excited to go.
Dave, may I ask what camera you used to record? I'm terrified of bringing my DSLR out on the water.
nice video heading up there in two days. planing on doIng 42 miles.
Nice I will be hiking there this weekend. Have a great hike.
Sweet! I can't wait to do it again some time.
Beautiful
Thanks for the awesome video! I definitely want to do this some day soon! Do you know if the bugs are that bad all Spring, Summer, and Fall, or just at certain times?
Amazing!
Thank you! I was able to glean some information
Great video bud!
We are going up in a few days, this looks amazing but now I'm a bit concerned about the bugs. Following your advice as to the long sleeves etc but did you use bug spray also ??
I did not use bug spray. I would also mention that bugs should be less of a problem now that we are in mid to late August.
How was the parking where the Kayaks started from? I remember seeing on the Michigan Hiking and Backpacking facebook group where it was crazy bad and people were parking all over the place where they shouldn't be. Not sure if this was the same company. The also basically took over the beach and made it very unpleasant for people that were there to use the beach.
We actually parked on some land Paddling Michigan owned nearby. They then bused us to the launch and picked us up from the take-out.
May I ask which kayak tour you used? We are torn between a couple different ones
were going in august, looks like those boats handle the water well, looks rough.
What kayaking company did you use?
Hey David, what Kayaking tour vendor did you go with and what was the cost? The outfit who launches by boat charges some big money to go with them
9:38 is amazing
