Fender HMU if you want to give me a jazz bass please. I’m 12 and have been playing for about 7 months and I’m saving up, but maybe you guys wanna help me out 😉
I will always love Fender for pioneering so many innovations in music and bass guitar, BUT for the money Sire basses have been doing really well. I love my V3 and I have an M2 on the way. Until Fender/Squier announced these basses I haven't seen anything comparable in the price range other than maybe the VM Jazz basses.
I've had several Squiers en recently sold my Sire V7 and I think you're right. For a start the hardware is way better on Squiers, knowbs are mounted the right way and the fretworks is better.
Amazing bass. I play in a Prince Tribute band and Prince’s music covers a WIDE range of genres. Funk, Rock, R&B, Pop... this bass does it all. I only wish that I got the 5 string instead of the 4 string.
This bass is awesome, it has good tone and clean humbucking sound. I am really satisfied with my Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass it is really a nice instrument.
Rock Metal Fiend His brother is mark king from level 42. Check out videos from UA-cam he is considered in the same class with geddy lee, claypool, flea, and many other contemporary players.
Bought the white one two weeks ago !and it is a heavy but awesome beast of a bass!highly recommended !way better than my sire v7 .... those Pickups Sound absolutely Killer! Thanks for the great video guys!
In Canada the Active Contemporary are only available in flat black and flat white not gloss black. The flat looks pretty bad ass in black with the matching headstock though. I've been anti-Fender for years, until I stumbled across a Squier VM Active Jaguar Bass... Several followed since, including a couple Fender Deluxe Active Jazz basses. I do love the active models and I definitely want to add a black Active Contemporary IV to my Squier family, they look awesome! I also have a Fender Rumble Studio 40 amp. It is a very underrated amplifier for the price and sounds great! The built in effects are cool but unnecessary, what I like about it are the different amp profiles. I've played Ampeg amplifiers most of my life and it has a very convincing Ampeg style sound coloration with great input tube saturation sound of a tight 12AX7(Newer Pro series) not a 12DW7(Classic 70's SVT). I could only assume that the other profiles would be as close if not closer than the Ampeg... They do profile their own amps as well, let's hope they get it right.
I don't know, I'm not really convinced... I mean I love the look (matching headstock!!), not so much the sound and the biggest problem for me is that I won't be able to buy better pickups so... Either you love it straight away or not. Also I would have loved a mat finish on the 5 strings too!
these and the vintage modified jazz with the maple body are great basses. with 500 you have powerhouses, i like that fender stays at the classic designs while squier does the risky and different stuff
Great sound Basses but that type of tone isn’t my cup tea however for those who like that Sting ray type tone then you would probably take a look at this bass
Just wondering why you have separate videos for the different departments in Andertons, but not for the bass. I know it's kind of with the guitar section, but at the same time it's a very different instrument.
Just wondering what's the problem here...? It's not a very different instrument at all, same construction, different approach to playing, that's why they have actual bass players playing it. It makes total sense to have it in the same channel. And even if it didn't make sense, who the hell cares?
Are they going to make a Contemporary Precision Bass? They released the Strat ones out but we should get a bass that should match with the Strat under the same series.
Not yet. Hopefully soon. Fender uses p bass as old school which is bullshit. They put more thought into the jazz bass models. Jazz bass even has more variations.
Update: I’m getting the 5-string black and white Jazz Bass like the one in this video. I got a used 2018 model and I should be getting it by the end of this week. I see a lot of decent reviews about this bass, hopefully I can do some funky slapping on it.
Seamus That’s the dog It depends obviously. I myself prefer passive electronics because it’s easier to upgrade and mod and it’s more expressive, active basses all sound the same to me.
Guys!!! Awesome videos!! I would like you to make a review of the ibanez tmb100 tmb105 and tmb 505 all those talman bass series the 505 is a monster!! Thank you!!
I got my Ric 4001 from China for 325 bucks and it's a beast. I love it ! The wood is excellent but the electronics are not the best but for 325, I'll take it.
Probably not gonna get one ever, I think. They rely on their brand being exclusive to the discerning player’s wallet, and it’s definitely working for them. As someone that’s owned an expensive instrument one time (>$1k) and a lot of other cheap ones, I can say saving and waiting to make it happen is worth it, 100%. Especially for that legendary Ric sound.
Go on my son.... why aint these guys playing in the andertons backing tracks.. B-) Can I have permission to jam over this and upload to youtube please ? :)
great playing guys!..sound nice but build quality on these particular 2018 models is really cheap! I bought one and returned the same day. The pots are garbage and mounted directly on the wood (no metal or at least plastic plate). If not handled carefully you can hit one of the pots and crack the thin wood. I also found the tuners to be very cheaply made. It did sound nice but I want something that will hold up and this wasn't it.
Are there any basses that don't feature an excessively tapered "jazz" neck? Something like Stanley Clarkes alembic, without the ££££ tag? I had the idea of buying a bass vi and converting it to four strings...Nice sounding pickups and any 'proper' neck.
If this is an attempt to compete with Ibanez dominance of the low end bass market it might actually have a point. I don't know how much they are yet but depending on the price they can be either great or pointless.
That intro though.
It's you!
Fender HMU if you want to give me a jazz bass please. I’m 12 and have been playing for about 7 months and I’m saving up, but maybe you guys wanna help me out 😉
It would be awesome if you make a contemporary HH with 24 frets.
Dont try to be the wendy's of youtube
@@BeezusCripes did you ever get a Jazz Bass?
I feel like Squier has become keenly aware of how Sire is encroaching on their market share and this is their response.
Will Jackson I was thinking the same thing.
I will always love Fender for pioneering so many innovations in music and bass guitar, BUT for the money Sire basses have been doing really well. I love my V3 and I have an M2 on the way. And I’m ok with their response. More competition is better for us the consumer. Better quality. Better sound. Better price. WIN!
@Toxic Potato they weren't when they 1st hit the market...checkout the video clips on my page when you get a sec
Amazing bass. I play in a Prince Tribute band and Prince’s music covers a WIDE range of genres. Funk, Rock, R&B, Pop... this bass does it all. I only wish that I got the 5 string instead of the 4 string.
Keep it true funky... Prince hated 5 strings. Lol! take that pick guard off and replace with gold hardware... (STYLE 4 days)
I've long thought about starting a band with two basses. This series makes me feel more and more like it could work.
Todesnuss Ned's Atomic Dustbin
Ivan Neville and Dumpsterphunk, New Orleans.
Todesnuss check out The Omnific for some prog with two bassists
Molotov from Mexico
A Reminder from Los Angeles
This bass is awesome, it has good tone and clean humbucking sound. I am really satisfied with my Squier Contemporary Active Jazz Bass it is really a nice instrument.
Loving the look of these, can't wait to get my hands on them. Now I have another choice for my next guitar/bass, the possibilities are endless
Congrats I'm pretty sure you all are the 1st to show these off.
The white jazz bass looked really beautiful I'd love to have one of those.
I have that one and it is great.
Nathan is a monster player.
Yes, he is an incredible player. Overshadowed by the fact his brother is a legendary player but Nathan is an absolute beast.
Rock Metal Fiend His brother is mark king from level 42. Check out videos from UA-cam he is considered in the same class with geddy lee, claypool, flea, and many other contemporary players.
Mark King in Level 42 :)
He also plays guitar in Level 42. Multi talented fellah!
Wow, I didn't know that Nathan is Mark King's brother! :O Always loved his playing though and the bass videos in general!
Damn, that white 4-String is a thing of beauty! Jazzbass shape with active humbuckers is right up my alley!
This is where you start kids...these absolutely rock especially as an entry instrumental
Monster playing guys, that's a fantastic improv duet!!
The five string Squier Contempoary is a seriously mighty upgrade from the earlier active five string 15 years ago. Great tight jam too!
Hi Lee, great to meet you in Andertons today. Andertons has a great buzz, really enjoyed playing all those tasty guitars. Keep up the good work, Paul

that jam at the start was amazing
These basses have incredible tone and you guys are killing it!
whoa. These basses rock! love the tone possibilities.
Can't believe this iconic bass intro was half a decade ago. Still a banger.
If these catch on I wouldn't be surprised if a Fender Player version gets released.
F0dd3r I hope so
F0dd3r it's done, fender flea signature model... Active pickups and preamp
No it's not. The new Flea sig has 1 MM style humbucker. These have 2 humbuckers.
I play flats on the one I just picked up......it sounds like a MONSTER!!!!
Never knew that Jay from Half in the bag was such a great bassist!
Haha! Gotta love Jay! So.. is this replacing- .. no, I won't go there.
Play dat funky music !!! It was an absolute pleasure listening to you two!
Really digging the white 4 string! Definitely want to try these dudes out when I get the chance!
I love these videos. I just wish the audio was bit better equalized between the DI and the speaking audio.
So saw one in a store got hooked up with a 25w orange amp the tone is an absolute killer and the orange just compliments it.
The orange crush?
@@thomasoneill4386 yeah
I wish they did the V in white.
Chris Cuthbertson Youre in luck because they do! in a matte white finish
they dont
Paint it
@@unicornpoo7441 ...they actually do...I have one.
@@jackieclark8253 THey literally do not make the 5 string in white.
Fantastic playing boys! Cool new basses too
I have the impression that the Sire V7 would be the better choice. If only for the active/passive switch and for the looks.

But only when played on the bridge pickup

+1 to Rumble series amps. Fantastic value and convenience.
1:22 is my favourite part. I like fast playing but this bit sounds the best.

Those guys are havin' a really good time. Wonder what's in those mugs.
How about a Captain meets Mark King. I'm a guitarist but loved level 42 since the 80's. Maybe Nathan could interview him, would be fascinating.
Natham IS Mark King’s younger brother…
Finally a video that gets a decent tone out of a bass!Moving beyond that cellphone bass sound!
You guys are awesome! And i like this new acitve Jazz
The black headstock is sick
Just wondering why you have separate videos for the different departments in Andertons, but not for the bass. I know it's kind of with the guitar section, but at the same time it's a very different instrument.
Matt Elliott it's for the views mate. Making a new channel just for bass wouldn't be profitable

A lot of folks, myself included, play both.
No problem really, just wondered why they decided not to split them up. More of a random question that floated through my mind
6:32 - "And on that bombshell..." Did I just head a Top Gear reference?!
Tengo una gran pregunta cuál tiene sonido más espeso y más claro el Jazz bass classic 70v o el Jazz bass contemporary?
I need to get that 5-string!
That jam is awesome.
Man! If that bass makes my fingers move like that, I'm buying 4 of them today!
hey, very good video.
Would you recommend this over sire v3 or v7?
Thank you!
nekem volt sire de nem szerettem, más hangja van a single coil pickupoknak. már választottál?
Great vid as usual. How about a rundown of bass octave pedals, MXR, TC, Boss, Aguilar etc
Man I'm so bummed, bought this bass from a local shop and the neck rod was broken so I had to return it. Wish I would've gotten the chance to play it!
love it! You guys absolutely rock!
Beautiful basses!
are they good?

These contemporary basses are AWESOME!!! I have only one, unfortunately.
These are the only guitars in the Contemporary line that don't visually turn me off. I can't get into the matching head stocks on the 6 strings.
OMG, the junkyard dog teaches the young dog. I'm so impressed as the young dog knows what he's doing.
what kind of amazing music is this that they are playing at the begining?
You demo'ed me into buying one. Black 5 string on order. 👍
Lawrence Genereux is it a good bass I might buy it ?
New Squiers = Pretty damn nice. Thanks for the video.
The blue one rocks
I'm hoping you guy's get them new flea basses soon!
Great video! And yes, it should be iNAMM.
Nice basses. But jeeez, those guys where intense:)
Wish they had more colour variety, but still, this basses kick ass!

Will they work without batteries?
Just make a contemporary Dimension bass
And a P bass!
When is someone gonna make a lower priced Rickenbacker option series....?😛
Rickenbacker is very picky on brands copying their models. Don't think they'd ever start a budget brand unfortunately. Affordable 4003 would be killer

try Vintage . They make a Jazz with a 42mm nut.
why did they use poplar on the 4 string jazz and ash on the active, should have done both in ash and tweaked the price instead.
Are the Pickups active? Or just the preamp?
