I loved this video, Elle! I have recently lost 45 lbs, and I’m in my 50’s, so all this heavy contouring/highlighting that is so prevalent in the beauty community is not flattering on me. Honestly, I think it is best reserved for photography, not every day life, no matter our age. The comment I am receiving the most is, “I can really see the weight loss in your face,” which concerns me because my face shape is already oval, so the loss of volume isn’t necessarily welcome. You addressed that very well in this video.

YOUR ARE A GODSEND! I’m so glad I found you. I’m 50 and have been fighting cancer for several years, have went through 2 bone marrow transplants. It’s all taken a toll on me and caused a lot of weight loss. I’ve lost all the volume on the sides of my face and hollow eyes. All the big influencers are young and have perfect faces still so everything they do makes me look terrible. I have not seen 1 influencer with your knowledge and give these tips. This matte highlighter you showed is beautiful. I love highlight but your so right it accents all my eye wrinkles. Can wait to try it out. Thank you ,Thank you😘

Diana Leon it used to be the only highlighter to exist. You’d never know that watching the younger beauty influencers. YT is saturated with beauty influencers completely disregarding the importance of face shape and how certain products and application just do not work for most 35 and up year olds. Even being in their 20’s they say often times it is make up strictly for filming and not what they wear outside the home.🤔

  • @mishmash3968

I think a lot of people bring the bronzer, or contour, way too low- making the face look muddy or appear to have a bronzer beard. Some great advice I received is to start a touch higher than the ear (or don’t slant it as much) and then blend up rather than down once placed. It lifts the face, not working against you. Beautiful as always and another fantastic video.

You're the MOST LOGICAL makeup enthusiast, and ARTIST, on UA-cam. Love this video.
QUESTION: Will you do a tutorial on your eye shadow in this video? I loved your video about lifting hooded or down turned eyes, but I've been curious about what to do to achieve that lifted look, with a wider variety of eyeshadow shades.
I hope you'll consider doing a part 2 to that video, and I'd also love to see how you created this eyeshadow look, the colors are so gorgeous. THANK YOU!!

I have one of the most rare face shapes, the diamond! There is a lot of controversy on makeup placement for this face shape. Some say to apply in ways to hide the shape and make it appear more oval since that is the "ideal" face shape and others say to use techniques that will actually enhance it and make it even more pronounced because its uniqueness is beautiful and you shouldn't hide it. I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions on makeup placement for this face shape!

Wonderful, informational video! Thank you Elle! I do have a suggestion and that is how tricky and hard it is to cover the shadow that comes from under eye bags. I need to know which is the best concealer for this, and which tool and how to blend so that it works and stays put for the day. I myself am a MUA, however, I just can’t seem to get this specific concealing right. I would greatly appreciate your take on that.

Love this video, and I'm glad to see I've been doing my powders exactly how you do them. (I have a VERY similar face shape to you. Mine used to be heart shaped as well) I watch a couple of women who smile and put blush on the apple of their cheek, and sometimes it looks ok, but other times I do think it drags the face down some. I'd love to see them apply it the way you showed. I think it would make a big difference. Anyway, thank you for sharing!

Wow! I live all things make up and beauty - how have I never known that there’s such thing as “matte highlighter”?!?! Thinking back I probably knew the difference based on how they enhance texture, or not, but I never knew that was even a thing! I guess I just thought it was a matter of a shimmer or a glittery texture highlighter but I’m totally mind blown!! So helpful Elle! Thank you!!
Now I’m off to google all things ‘matte highlighter’ lol

I'm loving your channel so much! I'm older (and heavier) now & my face & body are very different. Like you I'm oval, but a bit fuller. My biggest problem relating to bronzer has been the jaw line. My skin is quite full under my chin. It made bronzing that area difficult. There's really not alot of defined area between jawline & neck. I feel better now having a plan of exactly how to do it. Tyvm ❤️

Your makeup is so soft and subtle yet you look so beautiful! No matter what I do I always end up with too much blush and look like a clown. See my cheeks are normally red like I'm flushed all the time and I'm extremely fair, so sometimes I color correct and use full coverage foundation. When I go to put on my blush it's still too much. Maybe I'm using the wrong color? One too pigmented?

    • @ElleLearyArtistry

Finally figured out my blush. It looks better as a contour and a light dab at the apple of the cheeks. I have a wide face, and this way it gives color to my face without flattening my cheekbones. The way you apply blush distorts my face, because blush is darker than my skintone so it sinks in my cheekbones.

I can't wait to try these tips! When I first started watching youtube several years ago, I was in shock as to how many steps there were for the cheek area. The most important thing I learned today is how to contour the jaw line. My round steroid face needs all the help it can get.
I am just know watching this because we lost power off and on last night. I am very happy to say that hurricane Michael came and went VERY quickly for us (in South Carolina). Send good thoughts to all the thousands of people without power.

Great tips! I don't know if you can address this , but what about covering discolorations, freckles or white spots on the face. I have vitiligo and it's just starting to appear a little on the face around the mouth. People without this condition may have little areas they want to cover, too. Just an idea. Thanks !

I hear you love! With vitiligo you have to add pigment back in so using a face cream tanning product like a cream bronzer before your foundation is key!
