    You make excellent points!! The American Equitation “system” is currently broken. 💔 I am a believer in equitation skills but not the system - which is filled with nepotism, judges and trainers in partnership to rig the outcome at the expense of minors - and don’t speak out or you’ll get the black ball !! No wonder you had that whiskey. 😉
    Also the mental game it takes to compete at a high level so important.

    Wonderful perspective! It is very sad to say, but in the George Morris era of equitation and fundamental hunt seat, horsemanship was a prerequisite to the riding component. I feel we are now in a time where it has reversed and is almost scoffed at and looked down upon to know horse care, no less provide that care to the horse you are competing. We are very much in an era where it is possible to be a 'top' young rider without even the knowledge of how to tack up correctly.
