thank you for sharing your considerable riding skills and most importanly the sound of the engine i find videos of different bikes most frustrating when music is over dubbed ...wanna hear the bike and the boxer is a beauty
I had an 2002 1150 rt and road two up many miles and it worked great. Just bought a 2009 1200rt, have not rode two up yet, but the 110 horse power would be more than enough.
Got my first bike this year (at 59) a 2010 1200rt. Only time I dumped it was mounting on the "high side" foot peg. It rolled right over :( not an especially attractive bike but runs and corners extremely well and you could certainly drive it cross country,
I ride a 2006 one since 3 years now. Is has clocked 40.000 km... The integral braking system does great and it is a real anker. But I'm wearing earplugs just to not hear the engine. It is so rattling and metallic .... Always believe you'll loose some parts, although you never do.... All in all super effective bike...
pre FL models had issue with clutch shaft that caused the rattling. Improved shaft fixes the issue (best with new clutch plate) but labor cost is high.
I Traded in my BMW R1200RT and Bought a Honda GoldWing F6B Deluxe! Wow, what a smooth Motorcycle! I've looked a the FJR1300's myself, but in my opinion, the Body Styling is just too "Blah" and it's hardly ever changed over the Years.

Be aware of the ABS 3 of Integral ABS system until 2007. Flush the brake fluid every year and hope for the best. If te system fails, there is not enough brake power left to drive safely, in spite of the BMW advice. I experienced this worst scenario 400 km from home.
I have a 2009, I notice your brake failure light comes on when first started, but goes off when you start moving? Mine does the same thing, is this normal?
Yes, it's normal. When the Light is Illuminated it indicates the ABS System is in Test Mode, once the Motorcycle is in motion the system will conduct a functionality Test and if everything is working correctly the Light will then turn off. It's also VERY common for the ABS System to develop problems and then the Light will be constantly Illuminated.
It's a thrilling machine, the term best in class is often overused. There is however no other way to describe this machine. 100mph is nothing and even on US freeways, galled by commercial truck abuse you can steer around the big hits and the ESA is phenomenal. I don't at this stage 40,000, miles notice any degradation in anything.
I know the '05-'06 R1200RT's had a issue with their Servo-Assist on the Linked Braking System, but I don't believe there were many notable issues after those Years. I have had no issues, Personally.
@@g-forcejax9256 I,v had my 05 8yrs now,,and if you do regular fluid changes(every two yrs) you are unlikely to have any issues... But if you do there are ways and means of modifying the brakes economically to solve the problem..
I would advise against standing on the peg while the bike is on the sidestand to mount it. They're not designed for it and it's not unknown for the stand weld to break or worse, the frame to bend.
Oh, I do! Too bad it's gone through THREE Fuel Level Sensors in THREE Months, but other than that, it's been great! BMW has an extended 12 Year Warranty on the Fuel Level Sensors too.

How much would you pay for a 2005 r1200rt with 30k miles in good condition?
