You have a talent for picking out colors. TIP: have the color wheel with you also to show complementary colors. For instance opposite color on the color wheel can be your complementary color. Thanks for video. 💜
Fabulous ideas! I crocheted a ribbon to dress up my Dad’s Christmas present and I think he liked it more than the actual gift! He kept fiddling with it all evening. ❤️
Hi Ophelia. I am 73 years old and this is the first video of yours I have watched. I have been knitting and crocheting for over 60 years, off and on, because I raised 4 children. I absolutely love the look of the blankets, using lots of colours, one row each. I buy yarn, make something for someone, then give it away. Know, in my older years, I am thinking of using my stash (my favourite thing to do is buy more yarn) and creating blankets. I will look for a video showing the decision and choosing process. Then, watch me go! I am also considering crocheting bath mats with my colourful cotton containing lots of bright colours. My bathroom is white and pale grey with lovely pics of flowers for colour, so cheery, and washable, mats might be lovely too, as long as they are not slippy. Gotta get back to a surprise snood, crocheted with a Caron Latte cake. Love, Audrey. ❤🇨🇦🧶🐈👍
Well Audrey you certainly have a lot on your list to do, enjoy your time, have a look at my previous videos, l'm sure there will be some stash busters there you can use!!! Enjoy, and thank you, Anja x
I always find it difficult putting colours together and I found this very useful especially the suggestion of not having large blocks of colour. Lots of ideas and more to follow, thank you Anja x
Thank you for all the amazing suggestions!! Heaven knows we all are guilty of having quite the scrap stash! I use a lot of mine to make small-ish draw string bags. We call them weasel sacks and keep our change in it for playing cards. My great grandmother started making them and I’m the only one in the huge family who carries on the tradition :)
I started a tunisian entrelac blanket using all my scraps and making the invisible knot. It was a w.i.p. for more than a year. One very unique, very special blanket. I use DK 90% of the time. So now I have started a new scrap blanket but this time I am making C2C blocks. We have 2 dogs, one adopted mix and a great dane. I lovingly made this for their bed. You gave me such great ideas now!! Thank you very much! 🤩
I use my scraps to practice a pattern I've never done; my grandmother explained the ripple stitch she was working on so I went home made a foundation row and started when I had an even row I took at any extra chains and started the first few rows were awkward but after 3 inches it worked out so I used all my scraps on it and worked to end of scrap yarn, added next wherever and my dad claimed it when it was done
I really like the string of tassels as a decorative point, I could see changing up the colors to suit different occasions or seasons, so pretty and affordable, especially with using leftover bits!
I love the yarn ball wreath! I'm always giving away my projects, I did make a table clothe for me. I'm making another one for me as well. But it's thread, I live making doilies!
thanks so much Anya I have stacks of scraps leftover so this is fantastic... I made a corner to corner granny blanket with some of the scraps.. Came out lovely very colourful... Thanks Anya for all you share.. Your the tops.. xxx
Love all the ideas, I'm working on a ripple or wave stitch blanket and it is really scrappy, I join all my colors just grab blindly to pick next color and do a Russian join and keep on crocheting, some strands are short and some are long, but I think it is beautiful, of course I'm partial, lol. Thank you for sharing all your ideas, I will be giving them a more thorough look over for another project. Thank you again for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love all of your scrap yarn projects, and I want to do so many of them. I’m currently working on my granny stitch scarf using the left overs from the Lizzie cal, as I love those colours so much. You are full of inspirational ideas. Also, I’d like to congratulate you on reaching your latest milestone of subscribers. You are so deserving of this.
I normally use scraps for small amigurumi but _damn_ the custom cakes made me want to buy a ball winder and do something big and colourful and something I probably won't wear! One of my personal favourite things to do with leftover yarn (usually fingering weight) are small flowers; the rose-ish kind you make in a long strap with the last row consisting of shells and roll into itself so the shells act as petals. They are great for decor, adorning a gift (instead of a bow) and I even use them as an accessory for amigurumi. I am planning to make a flower crown out of it.
I'm currently working on a pastel color gradient cardigan done in modified shell stitch that makes the shells little bumps similar to the candy stitch blanket but a different technique to her. I hit the "you can't buy more yarn before you use most of it!" to that I said "challenge accepted!" So I'm out to use all of my stash to make this cardigan! Most of my yarn comes from goodwill donations, so basically your scrap shelf, in taped up plastic bins would be a huge score for me! 😁 Also amigarumi is a great way to use tiny amounts of yarn as well! And I absolutely love your yarn ball scrap wreath! 💖
Thank you for being such an inspiration and sharing with us what to do with our left over yarns!!! I love your channel!!!!!! Here in South Africa we have a lot of dk yarn and that being why I also appreciate your channel- you using dk yarn for many and most of your projects 😊
Thank you for these great ideas! I especially liked the tip of making a cake with multi colors together. I had never even thought about that!!! I want to find out how to make the one strand, multi-colored cake.
This really helps me because I have a whole box of leftovers! I needed project ideas or my cats would find something to do with it 😂 But jokes aside, this was really helpful!
If you have a small scale, you can weigh the leftover skein. You compare that weight to a full skein and find out how many yards/meters are left. Write that on the label so you can add it to your next project and maybe save some money.
I very much recomend the Sumburst Granny Square Pullover from Rambutina here on youtube. The pattern eats up the leftovers, and matched with four hundred grams of a background color, it is just brilliant.
Recently I learned "Russian Join" and it is so useful for me to make big ball with small scraps. And my preferred project for different thickness scraps is Moebius Cawl because I think is the best way to use scraps in a small thing to donate. Thank you for sharing your ideas. Hmmm, good question Barbara, I don't use much other than acrylic or cotton myself, but I would suggest you split your scraps into manmade and natural fibres, then go from there, unless it's pre-made it's not a good idea to mix them due to shrinkage etc, I hope this helps, Anja x
