OMFG....after all these years ....I was still at school when this tour came around ...brother was at Uni in Bradford ....took me to the show ...deaf for 3 days afterwards ....Too Late Too Late and Stone Dead Forever were always my favs
This is the bizz!! Motorhead at their best!Period! They were the first band i ever saw live (at the Lochem Pop festival in 80' or 81'). Way under-rated drummer and guitarist!! Lemmy is God anyway! They were so loud, it was painful but i loved it! Motorhead IS rock'n'roll!
wow, what a find,i remember seeing this on tv,saw Motorhead the year after and at least 10 times since.i of a rare breed of bands who never let you down.
amazing! i saw them last night in houston and the band still sounded as loud and as badass as this clip... and its 29 years later! i was floored. lemmy just doesn't age! HE IS ETERNAL.
Man, the Bomber lighting rig was ridiculous, even for a motorhead stage prop. It was actually the first articulated lighting rig used in a live music performance. I think it belongs on the list of totally over the top stage props along with things like Sabbath's Stone Henge and Tommy lee's upside down drumming rig. It one of those things you ask yourself: "how did anybody even come up with that idea" when you see it.
Overkill is the total Motorhead motto: Only way to feel the noise is when its good and loud. not only is Overkill under rated. Lemmy as a lyricist is completely under rated. Even his earliest Motorhead work on On Parole is full of that classic hidden humorer. And unlike today's "metal" Motorhead isn't just riffs and solos with lyrics as filler between what in the end is just playing scales.
so they opened up with overkill ?....fuck me....how good is that....saw 'em open up with bomber once...that took me breath away...... awesome period for the band........cheers for sharing....good work.
Although this is good, and it's a bit hard to compare because recording and sound equipment has come pretty far in 30 years but for people saying this was their peak - i really hope you've actually seen them! This was before Mikkey Dee joined who's the best drummer Motorhead have ever had =]
Think this was on their 'Bomber' tour, saw em at Southampton in79/ 80, Lemmy 'Philthy' and Fast Eddie were Blitzgrieg ! i seriously thought i had ear damage for 2 days, they beat AC/DC's decibel level who played earlier there, think Motorhead were around 119db, quite unforgettable.
@redshaftedflicker I'll forgive you for that typo. I think what you meant to say was everyone needs at least one Motorhead discography in their collection
Oo
haha, i never bin on a motörhead consert but my dad have, he said that the volume was soo high people ran out in panic.. so doesent that mean that the people in the band ears must be so ruind that they dont even hear ther tinnitus? cuz i dont think they ever used earplugs
Lemmy Phil and Mikkey are true Motorhead, don't get me wrong philthy and eddie fuckin rule but both Mikkey and Phil have been loyal to Lemmy and been in the band longer then both Fast Eddie and philthy animal
With all due respect to Mikki Dee, Phil Campbell and Wurzell, for being the fine musicians they are, NOTHING beats Fast Eddie/Animal-era Motorhead.
Indeed
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE needs at least one MOTORHEAD album in the collection.
Philthy is and was the best Motorhead drummer. This line-up was pure magic and they wrote great rock music.
OMFG....after all these years ....I was still at school when this tour came around ...brother was at Uni in Bradford ....took me to the show ...deaf for 3 days afterwards ....Too Late Too Late and Stone Dead Forever were always my favs
KICK ASS, MOTORHEAD are the BEST hard ROCK band OF ALL TIME -original. Excellent compilation
For me the Bronze years will always be the Golden Age of Motorhead.
Lemmy, Phil "Philty Animal" Taylor & "Fast" Eddie Clarke, best Motörhead line up ever.
wow, what a find,i remember seeing this on tv,saw Motorhead the year after and at least 10 times since.i of a rare breed of bands who never let you down.
saw them from the front rows on the bomber and overkill tours - i was about 15 i think - absolutely mindblowing !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw them on this tour fan-fucking-tastic. The best Motorhead line up, Fast Eddie is a guitar God.
1980, I was 13 and headbanging, This is Rock'n'roll at its best...This is from the bomber tour I think, The original Motôrhead.
1st year I saw them, Edinburgh Odeon, seen them on every tour since 1980, roll on November in Glasgow.
Golden age Motorhead .... awesome!
This is how a proper rock concert should begin....and it was over 30 years ago!
i saw them a few weeks ago it was awsome , probably the loudest concert i ever been to
This is TRUE Motorhead. Fast Eddie rules,
God, this is awesome! Thanks for posting.
Yes- opening then always included the brutal overkill...great memories- how f-ing refreshing to have rock n roll metal punks in the early 80's!!!
Two of their best songs
This is awesome! Going to see Motorhead in 2 days for the first time at a small club in MN. Cant fucking wait!
Too Late Too Late is just fuckin superb ..we are Motorhead and we play proper rock n fuckin roll
Real british royalties...
Glorious noise. God I miss this band.
Damn, I wish that this lineup could reunite, if only for a tour or two, plus a studio and a live album!
amazing! i saw them last night in houston and the band still sounded as loud and as badass as this clip... and its 29 years later! i was floored. lemmy just doesn't age! HE IS ETERNAL.
bassplayers who sing are the coolest!
Philthy, Eddie 'n Lemmy, it's never been beaten since then !

It suits their sound perfectly but be fair, he was no Neil Peart 😉
so they opened up with overkill ?....fuck me....how good is that....saw 'em open up with bomber once...that took me breath away......
awesome period for the band........cheers for sharing....good work.
thats one badass intro
good drummin... Good ass rock n roll
Wow. Thanks for posting this!
I'd love to see film footage of the motorhead show at Port Vale FC's ground from 1981. There's about a six second silent clip on YT but that is it.

@Celticfreeze Fuck yeah! Don't forget Philthy though ;-)
The 3 of these maniacs were in a league of their own...
golden age of motorhead? well has there ever been a bad time for motorhead?
2:19 best moment in rock history.
Actually, in Sweden we celebrate Christmas (or Lemmys birthday...) on the 24:P
Phantastisch
Cool story, bro.
@Celticfreeze I don't mind the guys that are in the band now, at all. But a reunion with Fast Eddie and Philthy Animal Taylor would be legendary!!!
Love them. Lemmy is God.
Oo
Lemmy Kilmister.
The Snaggletooth!

Fast Eddie has amp problems.. He is great anyway
On Overkill Eddie misses the beat during the first solo,he is off for the rest of the part. But that's rock'n roll.He is cool.

@redshaftedflicker From every line-up.
haha, i never bin on a motörhead consert but my dad have, he said that the volume was soo high people ran out in panic.. so doesent that mean that the people in the band ears must be so ruind that they dont even hear ther tinnitus? cuz i dont think they ever used earplugs
Lemmy Phil and Mikkey are true Motorhead, don't get me wrong philthy and eddie fuckin rule but both Mikkey and Phil have been loyal to Lemmy and been in the band longer then both Fast Eddie and philthy animal
Lemmy!
Actually I prefer the new line up, I dont know why, don't get me wrong the original line ups where the best, but I just prefer the new members

I think that this bloke is talking "tongue in cheek" LOL
1-2-3-4!
Grindhouse
Does it sound like Eddie gets kinda lost after the first lead break?
@noremac91 -- God checks under his bed for Lemmy.
What bridge pickup is Eddie using here?
