Attitude, antics and ego aside, he does come across as really knowledgeable and eloquent, and you've gotta respect how he's steering the company towards success.
True
I respect how he is pushing innovation and technology..but not a fan of many of the new designs. I will stick with my old X220C
Bunch of haters on this comment section. Bottom line, these are the best feeling, best playing guitars I have ever picked up (and I own Japanese made Ibanezes, Gibson Les Pauls, American made Fenders, a PRS, and some other nice guitars). Carvin's are the most under rated guitar ever and these Kiesel's have taken it up a notch. AND they are insane to look at . Best guitar value out there in my opinion. So the guy is a master guitar builder, more so than a talking head video producer. Get over it. I like his style.
Agree i couodnt find anything at guitar center whent to a shop in san diego picked up a kiesel through a marshel n was like wut is this?? N baught one month later
As you might have noticed, everything is RAD over there :)
Except for things that are sick, or money.
Don't forget sexy.
I believe that is called RADITUDE
Lol I've been living in Escondido for the past 8 years and it's very common for people around here to say "rad" all the time. I didn't even notice him saying it that much
Thought about buying one but after watching this video I came to the conclusion that these guitars are too 'rad' for me. Also, the logo looks like it was designed by an autistic third-grader.
This guy loves what he does & knows what he does. He talks, looks & touches everything, the same way that I do. But with the knowledge to explain as well. I predict, that as a kid, he was in his families guitar shop being "baby sat", exactly how I was in my dad/uncles hardware store. You dont have that much knowledge at his age, unless you spent years in the shop as a kid, just staring at the wood & tools, & watching the process.
His dad came in to save Carvin Guitars as that division was on the chopping block. So it was certainly is father who took him under his wing. Jeff worked in the original factory for some time before he was given the rad power. I will say that Jeff has gained a lot of customers his dad wouldn't have been able to reach which is why the business is booming right now.
He's also lost a lot of customers, perhaps far fewer than he's gained, by being a complete turnoff to older guys that aren't into chugga chugga metal guitars. Sure, they make guitars that aren't just for that kind of music, but every new feature and design element is geared toward that kind of vibe.
I've got four Carvin guitars and won't ever order a Kiesel. Since Jeff's taken over the company I've bought a Suhr, a Music Man, and a Nash. There's nothing for me at Kiesel that I can't get elsewhere since I don't like bevels, I'd never play multiscale, I don't need my guitar to look like a piece of furniture, I stay with six strings, and I just plain don't like him. He's a guy who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.
I'm not a metal fan either but Kiesel still makes great guitars and they are getting better all the time because they focus on technology and really listen to customer input. I just had a Kiesel Bolt built and it is just so good. If you need 60 year old technology, there are plenty of builders that can sell you that. The SCB and the Aries, two of their newest designs, aren't at all metal oriented. They are simply functional, cool looking guitars.
Be careful with their maple necks mainly the neck thrus. They are very bright sounding. Get a hog neck over a maple if you can.
Old man yells at cloud. But seriously they have tons of more vintage body shapes and vintage voiced pickups. To say they don't offer anything for older players in downright ignorant
Man, Jeff is a really great tour guide. Knows his stuff for sure.
Jeffs knowledge and excitement sold me on Kiesel. They look amazing plus I haven't seen a more solid neck construction ever!
I received my JB200C back in August 2021 and i live in the north east where the temperature and humidity changes dramatically, hot and very humid summertime and brutal cold in winter and the neck has not moved in the slightest degree, rock solid quality.
Awesome vid Jeff. I have two Carvins and Two Kiesels. They bring me pleasure and a huge release every time I play them, and seeing where both my Kiesels were built (one by your own hand) has just added an extra positive dimension. Thanks so much.
“Call my guys”. I did Jeff! Just started my custom vader 7 build, and I can’t wait!!
Congratulations buddy!
RAD
Awesome tour. I think it was a smart move to have Jeff the spoke person for the brand, he's bringing a cool attitude to the company.
My Aries was built in this new factory and it turned out great. This Kiesel blows my other "name brand" guitars out of the water. I love it.
He is doing an amazing job. I had never even considered getting a Carvin when I was younger. To go from that to actually craving them, even though I have other top instruments, is pretty impressive.
I had a Carvin Ultra V that i bought new in 1987. The neck and the action were very good. I haven't played music in 10 years and drums were my primary instrument. Recently i've been thinking about learning guitar again. When i found out Kiesel was made by Carvin, it got my attention. No wonder their guitars are so popular.
I wonder if Gibson or PRS or Fenders CEO's and/ or owners could walk into the factory and run any machine or paint a guitar like Jeff does?
You do have a point there.
bets that Paul could.
I think Leo Fender could do it too, he built pretty much everything. Interestingly though, word is that he couldn't play the guitar xD and he did not bother to learn
They don't have to, all they have to do is have the money to put up and keep it going.
Paul definitely could
Got my HH2 couple of months ago and I'm still spinning out on that guitar. Amazingly well built, fantastic sound. Thank's a lot guys. Great factory tour. It's quite interesting to see where my axe came from. I am in Australia and certainly the only one with a HH2 with my custom outfit. One more minor thing. Tell Your video man to use an image stabilised camera or lenses to avoid nausea to Your audience. Cheers
I'm in Australia, too, and I just paid my deposit for a HH2X! How has yours held up over the years since you commented? Was it playable straight outta the box?
@@meh54 I like when you ask someone a question in the comments & they never respond. I'm a bass player but was curious; how is your HH2X doing? What are your thoughts on it? Thanks (I'm here in New Jersey, USA by the way :).
@@jackshittle It's a great guitar, certainly the best I've owned thus far. I love the balance and it's got a really concentrated sound. I had to slightly lower the action for my taste (even though it was pretty low straight out of the box), but it just feels much easier to play faster on it than any other axe I've tried.
The thing I'm probably most impressed w/ is the Hipshot tremolo. I never really abuse the whammy at all, but after the first few days I stopped worrying about any strings breaking completely and it keeps its tuning wonderfully, as well as being nice and smooth. Not as much range as a Floyd, but I'm looking for more nuance in my whammy, a la Holdsworth, which it does well.
If I could change one thing, it'd probably be my choice of wood and the thickness of the neck: overall, the mahogany sounds warm, but I also find that the top end can get a bit piercing for some reason, but, hey, that's what the tone knob is for, right? Also, I went w/ a thinner neck profile as I was worried that my average-sized hand and fingers wouldn't adjust to Alan's preferred thickness after I was used to so many Ibanez Wizard necks. Turns out I'd probably enjoy a bit more space between my thumb and fingers.
But like I said, great guitar and no real regrets from me. Love the colour (blood red) and the flatness of a 20" neck!
@@meh54 Right on & good for you! I'm glad you are enjoying it. I bet it was exciting ordering it & then waiting for it to come. I've been playing bass since 1991 but would be too nerve racking for me to order a totally custom bass lol. I would be too fearful of getting it then saying "Oh man, I should have gotten the alder body" etc. But it sounds like you took the plunge and now have an awesome sounding & looking high end guitar. BTW, what brand/model strings to you run?
@@jackshittle Pretty basic, just the D'addario NYXL 10-46's. I've tried other strings but these win every time.
why do people dislike this? Those guitars are sick as all shit.
Yea, man. They're pretty rad.
Really rad, that's what they do there.
Because Jeff Kiesel is an arrogant douche.
Will Castillo Never met the guy, have no plans to. Guitars look pretty sweet and the prices aren't too bad.
Why would you say that? Sure he's confident and proud of his work, but the guitars they're producing more than back up his swagger. If he was just riding his Dad's coat tails, sure - arrogant douche. But he's done some amazing work and really brought Kiesel to the forefront over the past decade.
I love this tour but I wish there was a touch more camera stability.
WakeeWakee Yup. Made me feel sick!
There's plenty of software available to fix that.
I had to quit watching.

This was amazing trey! Loved the whole tour getting to know the whole process and the ethos behind the amazing company! Jeff seems like a genuinely great guy with such great knowledge of the whole process. Thanks for this man! Hope to own a Kiesel of my own one day 😊
Beautiful instruments - thanks for sharing. Played a Keisel 7 string in a Guitar Centre in Kentucky, really liked it.
I am sold. Next guitar is a Kiesel in left handed.
It was pleasure to meet you at Summer NAMM last year! You are doing great work. Keep them coming and have continued success.
Nice tour jeff and trey and i definetly learned alot ill start my new job with you guys first in the morning. Thanks!
RAD
Great video. Not sure when it was shot, but I was there on the weekend of October 31st. At the 42:35 mark where he starts showing the Jason Becker models you can see the guitar that I ended up going home with !!! It's the gold ST300, fifth from the right !!! Killer guitar, solid maple body, maple neck and flame maple fretboard with piezo........
Jeff, thanks for taking your time for this new tour, Gear Gods, thanks for making this video.
I remember my Carvin catalogs from the 70's that were photographed at Knott's Berry Farm.
Simply the best-made guitars in the world's market. Know them from the second half of 70ties, just becoming even better and better.
Wow great presentation brothers and sisters!!!! Definitely on my wish list..
Thanks for the tour Jeff! T'was great! Nice filming, as per usual, Trey! Keep up the great work!
Holy shit, Kiesel is amazing!
Awesome video. I’ve got to visit that place. I’m about 1.5 hour drive north of there and pass it every time I go to San Diego. This guy really knows everything about making quality guitars!
Awesome tour!!! Big fan of Kiesel (Carvin) for many years and learned a lot here (in particular why the company name changed). Still have a 2008 Carvin SH-575 and it is a work of art! Their guitars are all a work of art.
Wow, that was truly amazing. Thanks for posting, Jeff.
Your new shop and Guitars ROCKS! I want one!
It really struck with me how these guys are all about doing good, solid guitars without sacrificing quality over quantity. They're not in it to make as many guitars as possible and sell them as fast as possible (looking at you Gibson, Fender, etc), but in making really great instruments. From the video I can see that each guitar really is unique and buyers know this and appreciate it. Keep it up!
I used to work at Carvin in the 80s in Escondido and knew {somewhat, worker} your dad , The guitars were stunning back THEN,, Great tour and made me want one...
I'm sold. I watched Jeff talking on a facebook live feed and loved his knowledge of everything and tht got me interested alot more.
This is where my Carvin JS was made, and shipped all way through Angola, Africa....Awesome job guys...Next i think will be the Greg Howe model....
This is awesome, Jeff seems like a chill ass dude to work with
This was fascinating! I was able to walk through Zion's old location in Greensboro back in 1998 and it was eye opening for me as a player and consumer. Your factory shows me 18 years worth of technical development and know how and how you apply both. Thanks for the look behind the curtain!
Very Impressive Shop Jeff :) I have a an LB76 from 1998 and a VB6 from 2017 and recently have VB6 fretless in build now. I love the VB6 series, plays as smooth as glass!
that factory is like disneyland for guitarist!, dreams come true, literally
I drive past this place every day on the way to work. Always wanted to stop by.
so many haters! give the kid a break! he's still young and is in the process of understanding the empire that grandpa and dad and uncles have build that he inherited..
He's trying to step up the game in the generation that he knows and understand! so ye! attitude adjustment he does need but he'll get there,at least he's very passionate about what he does and is headed into the right direction that old grandfather wanted to do.
Kiesel guitars are great and the new lithium pick ups are awesome...
Hes 40 years old btw. Hes been working there for over 20 years. I think he understands it. Hes just a douche. Kiesel is a wonderful brand but jeff sucks
Hater trolls are the worst. I love my CU22 PRS to death but I have to say that Kiesel guitars are the real deal. Very solid build quality and sound. Now I'm planning to build a DC600.
Watch this and then go to the channel of PremierGuitar, watch the Gibson factory tour and just compare the attention to detail,Kiesel/Carvin puts into their work in comparison to Gibson. Also, the re-inforced,double carbon fiber trusrods, beeing a standard feature is great. Not even PRS has this type of trusrods in their guitars,as a standard feature! Speaking of PRS,pause @ 32:14 and then @33:35,for these type of flame/quilt tops, you will have to pay extra for a ''10 Top'' or ''Wood Library'' package, for a similar finish to the ''Aquaburst'',you have to pay extra for an ''Artist Package'' at PRS and not to mention trying to get a lefthanded PRS.
carbon fiber rods kill sustain. its super over engineering that is not necessary. at the end of the night, if u leave your guitar in the trunk of your car in a summer time, the next afternoon it will be warped.
erszebet Bullshit,a friend has an Ibanez J-Custom,with titanium trusrod, mahagony body/flame maple top. That thing sustains like there's no tommorrow.
The Gibson one is terrible. I would never buy a Gibson after seeing how big of hacks they are. So expensive and they use chisels and hammers to fit necks. One other company I was surprised with was Schecter they seem to do a pretty good job, way better than Gibson. so far Kiesel has the best process and quality that I have seen in videos.
I love my Kiesel! The first one I ever owned was one of Chris Lechtford’s personal guitars and I’ve been addicted ever since.
This really makes me glad I got a Lmx7. So sick. Love your guys work!
I love these hard working people! I just ordered a $3000 guitar from them.
Thank you for this. Will soon be driving to Escondido to visit the factory.
Absolutely loved that factory tour. Cheers!
I went to this place in San Marcos. Literally the most chill atmosphere and you can jam the fuck out all day long, nobody gives a shit! I love their guitars too! Absolutely top notch!
Wow. This was so cool. Loved every minute of it!
Great stuff, thank you. Thank you Jeff too for explaining a bit about the Plek machine. I was thinking a Kiesel signature Trey Xavier model?
Don't really see many Kiesel guitars where I am in the UK, but after the recent Gibson attempt to sue them I started to notice them. I now want a Kiesel, cheers Gibson.
What a great family and company. Everyone I've ever talked to from Kiesel is super friendly and enthusiastic. If you go to a Mayones booth at NAMM, they are so pretentious and snobby. Kiesel doesn't overcharge, they always look to improve, and are made in the States. What more could you want?
sirefromtheshire Jeez Jeff, chill!
I dig their guitars. Excellent. I also love the old Carvins branded guitars and the amps. Terrific stuff.
drink a beer every time this guy says "rad," I dare you!
JH Scofield I lost count somewhere in the mid 70s.
also "it's pretty rad"
This is Fantastic. Gonna buy a Kiesel someday for sure.
I own a carvin acoustic before you guys were building them and liked the guitar a lot but seeing that yo make them in the USA and with such attention to detail including the carbon fiber in each neck I am sold for my next purchase. Great video, really rad!
Hey TX, i got super stoked watching this with the potential of seeing my new VM8 that is being built, probably over analyzing the video. but i never saw it:( Anyways, good job duder. Killer video!.
After watching this video there is no doubt my next guitar is going to be a Kiesel.
This guy is obviously very passionate and very knowledgeable about the business of making very high quality guitars. I'd never even heard of these guitars before today and now I'm considering ordering one.
They're worth it. I own a Carvin, and my next axe will definitely be a Kiesel!
I'm watching this as i'm falling asleep and 32:15 creeped me out because my name is Manny so I thought he was calling me
This was so great. Really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Just bought a Kiesel but I also love wood in general so this is crazy
Incredible playing instruments.
Way too excited for my Kiesel... I can already tell my next guitar will be another Kiesel!
Imagine this dude getting pulled over for speeding. "Sir do you know you were doing 95 there?" "Wow. That's pretty rad!"
good job guys!!! beautiful work. I like the green and blue flame top finishes. I have to play one. just awesome
Awesome tour Thanks!!!
Yes Jeff, we know about drying wood ffs. I love my old Carvins and they definitely influenced how I build.
Great, informative video!! Comgrats on your new building, and love your stains/finishes!!
Next gutar is definitely going to be a Kiesel! So many awesome guitars. Crazy attention to detail!
Heading there tomorrow! Can’t wait))))
Not a fan of HAAS cnc machines. But they do good for what they are intended for. Wood maybe a perfect match for HAAS. I will say out of all the Guitar companies I see in videos I am most impressed with Kiesel's building and machining process. A+. As a Machinist myself and working in Manufacturing for over 30 years my opinion Kiesel is top notch. I have a Carvin guitar and its probably the best guitar I have ever played and owned
Very informative. I'm surprised just how accommodating Kiesel is to it's customers.
I could see how some people might see Jeff as a bit egoistical or posturing a little but I think it's just a matter of him knowing his stuff and running a company. It takes a certain kind of person to run a company let alone run it well.
He seems like a decent enough guy but I don't work there so what do I know.
Their guitars are pretty freaking sweet and especially at the price. Man...now I'm debating what to sell to buy one of these bad boys, lol
Haha just came here after watching the suhr factory tour
Suhr: “the plek machine makes the perfect neck”
Kiesel: “plek is bad”
You just can't go wrong with how stainless steel frets shimmer in dimly-light settings. So glad this is a standard option; very much worth the extra $40.00.
Awesome tour Trey
Nice Vid, Looks like the ultimate modern guitar Fab!
Awesome tour. Great job trey!
Man, things are pretty rad at the Kiesel factory! :O
CARVIN HAS CLOSED!!! no more amps. Spread the word. Only the guitars remain!
Purple is my favorite color but I love their pink colors and the neon green that they do too
One day I'll get myself a SH550. Such beautiful guitars...
would love to come work for you guys, Im a fan for 30 years!
I'm gonna start saving up today!
That operation is totally impressive.
Got to get myself a Kiesel now!!
Wish I could live that lifestyle. I would have dozens of those guitars if I had the means. Good for you guys. Looks great.
I like that they do everything in house
We have a few of the same CNC machining centers at work
Great video, breautifull history!
Jeff,
I'm just a few miles north of you in Riverside County, right next to that guitar museum. I tell you what...I'm gonna save up and get one of your guitars. I'm totally impressed by your guitars, of course, but I also believe in building communities and helping the people around you. You actually might have some of my old high school students working for you. We have a very good, actually one of the best around, manufacturing program. Thank you for putting this up. Take care.
Pretty rad!
I love this video!
I gotta hand it to kiesel man, the woods they use for tops and fretboards are next level... and for the price they charge for american made, nobody is doing it like them - i dont even own one - YET! :) but man those zerbra wood, all the burls...amazing.
You did a good job filming, he covered a lot of ground in this video .
I have 2 CARVIN Basses , my first I bought in 1996, its a BB75 , fantastic instrument ! I have a lot of basses , A 78 Fender Jazz , Atelier Z, G&L. If my house was burning down I would Run through the flames to save my LB70 !
Sonic 7 I have a Carvin C90 and a Carvin bolt neck kit bass I feel the same way about. Top quality at a reasonable price.
Much new respect for Kiesel.
Awesome tour. Wish you showed more bass guitar info
Impressive! I have a Carvin - might be time to order a Kiesel.
