BAJA 1000 the Fogg Motorsports RZR Bug Conversion

- We have all dreamed about driving our RZRs on the street, but very few states actually allow it. Well we found two guys from Oregon that found a way to do this with a RZR Bug Conversion and they call it the Baja 1000. This isn't a RZR Bug Body kit, Fogg Motorsports actually custom fit this VW Bug Body on to a 2014 Polaris RZR XP 1000 chassis. We caught up to them at the 2018 King of the Hammers event in California and just had to do a feature on it. The Fogg Motorsports RZR Bug is a clean build and they plan on doing many more. We might even try our hand in building our own polaris rzr bug to hoon around Alabama in. So stay tuned to Extreme UTV Tech for that as we attempt to build a street legal rzr.

I want to build one using a Turbo RZR and a flat fender military jeep.

BustedKnuckleVideo probably be lighter id you used some more modern turd like a samurai or a geo tracker that's been gutted and the floor pan removed.

We have a lot of vw beetles and didn't know what to do with them, now we do. Thank you. We are looking to enter the European cross country racing circuit. You may THINK about this market as well.

Yes legal in AZ but I don't think We Can legally drive on the highway here.

106hp, I modded Turbo can get up in the 200hp range and would be a riot on the street!
It's my life long dream to have a 4x4 bug ,if I ever hit the Lotto I'm looking You guys up to build that for me great job guys

I also was thinking that RZR need to be Streetable. Actually thought a bug would be perfect to do the job. Glad someone thought of this before me and actually finished it.

I doubt 15k would buy this
Ryan Knapp at least $20k and that's only maybe if you had some crazy body, paint, welding, fabrication skills, etc..but the average Joe ain't building this for $15k. And finding an XP1K for $10k that's not clapped out will be tough too. I saw some build pics on this, and it definitely was not an easy task that's for sure. And to have it clean and functional like this, if it was that easy and cheap you would see them all over!
It could be done, but you would have to be a good fabricator.

I'm wondering how little you could do to get away with it. Maybe throw a hood, fenders, lights, windshield and call it good. As long as you have the title and plate of a pre smog Jeep right?

Here in Tennessee we stock Razors and Can-Ams with tags all the time, I would thought that would have been true every where . I’m looking for one now and plan to put a Jeep and Grill on it, then make the rest of the panel’s.

BustedKnuckleVideo I finally saw the X3 one last night. Far better power and ac to boot lol. From what I remember, the roofs on those classic steel beetle bodies are heavy as hell. Gotta be some way to dump some more weight on this 1k build.

I had the same idea as you. I just posted a comment about it and by no means did I copy your idea.
We're not alone. When I first started thinking about it, I did a utube search and found the Rugged General. He just grafted on a grill and hood, and it looks like crap, IMO. I don't think his is street legal. I probably won't be trying to build one anytime soon as I would not be gaining much over my TJ, expect for a lot of work. Finding a rusted out Willys tub for a reasonable price to get start has been a challenge in my area. If I knew it would turn out good, I would just buy a new aftermarket tub and start chopping, but that would be a $3 grand gamble right now.

Yeah finding a tub would be hard to find it it's not all rusted out and I just couldn't justifie cutting a brand new tub up to fit it in a rzr or ranger. Would be sweet to have.

It looks so way heavier than our rzr xp 1000...it looks a lot slower going up the dunes. I see the fibreglass Ford raptor shells on the x3's and rzr's. I have a Yxz 1000r and would love a fiberglass kit for it.

What a great idea on using the "laws" to accomplish your ideas and at the same time build a completely unique toy. I would love to own one of these. Can you get the motor to put out more power? Not that it looks like it needs it but having more power can always add more stars in the fun category

I'm not a huge bug fan, but this thing is badass. Only thing, it seems a bit underpowered, especially with the added weight. Hopefully on the next one they use a XP Turbo! It would be an absolute beast if they did!

I've recently moved to Phoenix AZ. And I've learned we can get RZRs and the such on the street legally. But dammit I'd still rather have this. It's like the ultimate hardtop. I wonder if a Miata would work?

I have a Baja and am weighing the cost of this instead of putting more into the stock drivetrain and suspension... what’s the top speed with the extra weight? Heat?
it doesn't really weigh much more than stock, Should still do 65-70 no problem

Just saw this video......a few questions though...
1.Why would you pay 20 grand for a side by side?
2. Why would you want to drive it on the road?
3. Why wouldn't you build the beetle? Even the air cooled original motor sounds way better than the chain saw in the razor.
Obviously just my opinion and curiosity. I just can't understand spending that much on it when 20k would build a seriously capable real vehicle compared to an overgrown 4 wheeler hahaha
Who spends 20k on a RZR? Not me or this guy for that matter. You wouldn't want to drive it to the store and back? Beetles are 2wd this is 4wd with much better suspension. They are like little trophy trucks.
