    Those ports are too close to the back wall. You generally want the width of the port worth of distance between a port and a wall. But still turned out awesome!

      Yea probably been ok with smaller diameter so they would be shorter, but big ass ports always look super cool 😎

      Half the width of the port is as close as u can be to a wall.

      It's interesting actually because you can slightly decrease the ports tuning by making it seem longer, by pushing the end of the port close to a wall. You want the port area to be equal to the "folded rectangular area" of... Well, imagine you have a rectangle, and that rectangles length is equal to the port circumference, and the rectangles width is equal to the distance from the port to the wall. That rectangle needs to have the same area as the port area.
      This will extend the ports effective length by a few inches or so. Free low tuning!

    It's a good thing that you are bringing to light that you can go cheap and achieve great results. For example I have been running two dual brand 12's in a bandpass box on a jvc 600 watt amp for about 13 years now and it still hits around 130db. Keep doing what your doing!

    this is awsome. im fixing to build me a box for a rockford fosgate p3 12 for inside my house. i got some polk audio 6x9 i got on sale at walmart. i got 4 of them and i plane to use the 4 6x9 polks and the single rockford fosgate p3 and whatever other speakers and amplifiers i can find to put in it. its basically gonna be a budget car audio/ home audio build for inside the house.

  • @boostbuilt

    why is it even ported? i have never understood why sealed boxes are so overlooked. forget the port and put a divider in the box to split them into paired chambers. will sound and perform way better.

    Port is way to close to the inner wall of box.... Minimum half diameter of port to the wall. Besides that excellent video Parker.

  • @akjohnny5997
    @akjohnny5997 2 роки тому +1

    Yea this budget stuff is way more interesting to people I think, who cares or wants to hear about some niche/esoteric subwoofer that no one can afford? it's way more interested to see random cheap subs that can outperform or do something different. I haven't looked but I'm curious if you've tested the Sony Xplode subs? I read quite a few of your commenters talking about how loud they got and they're dirt cheap. I've got a humble kicker Q class L7 10 inch, but I'm always looking at other subs to see what else is out there. Also I subbed cause I like the way you test subs, very real world.

    I used to have a 94 exploder with a kicker l5 12 in a ported box running on a jbl amp pushing 750rms and did 140 in a sound comp. Cheaper then this set up and better quality parts

      The rms on those subs is 1200 watts (2400 collectively) The rms on those amps is 650 @ 1ohm (collectively 1300 watts rms). Those subs are severely underpowered! I have two of those Gothic 12" subs in a 6.5 cube, strongly reinforced, box running off an Audio pipe 2500 watt amp (rms 1800) ! The bass is phenomenal! But also the musicality is AMAZING!!! I've been crank'n them subs up for 4 years and their longevity is notable as well!

    Just seeing how you had the areo ports as I’m watching the distance between the back wall to the port isn’t quite ideal you should probably have another inch or two for better air flow just so you don’t get chuffing

    • @rickross368
      @rickross368 2 роки тому

      @@rickross368 right you would be. It would restrict airflow and mess with air chuffing in the port and even the tuning itself

    Back in the late 90's early 2k when i was building car-audio, a friend of mine made a bet with some dude that he could take some shit woofers
    and outplay his costly system. So we bought 4x10" MDS woofers for 20$ each , i then built a ported box tailored for his Volvo 240GLT with the ports up into the cabin and woofers facing forward, coupled into 2x2 Ohm , powered by an Orion 250HCCA
    And to this day, my friend says he has never heard such cheap woofers play that loud and hard.

    Hey PARKER u should invert them subs & hook them up to a TRUE 2k or 3k like the smart 3k taramp u have wire them to 1ohm but DO NOT reverse the main line wire from box to amp basically wire them up like they would b if they not inverted meaning normal wire up & take off about 4" of the areo ports and plus roll down both door windows & bet u will love this sound that this will push out then and u may smell alil coil burn & might b able to hit mid 140's db @ roughly range of 35-40 hz???....
    I have 3 of them woofers they r inverted built my own box with slot port tuned @ 27hz subs wired to a AUDIOPIPE APMI 2K wired @ 2.67ohm load & it metered @ 142.68db @ 28hz upgraded electrical & 2nd battery 1/0ga wire & i had my bass crew and they were all surprised by my build i only have about 800$ into my setup and i have this in a 97 f150 ext cab with lower seat removed and i have had this setup for 8yrs & they still bumping but ik they say 1200rms but they wont do it i think they r only 750rms...

    I have 1 12 in a platinum f-150. In a properly built box. 3.15 ported. Port displacement is 1.2. So the box is big. Around 5 cubic feet. Tuned to 30. 144@31hz, 140@25hz clamping 1930 watts. Knowing how to build a box is only way to get results. Manufacturers specs are always wrong. Unless you like 40-50hz. I do not.

    Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. You decide. Have a great day!

    My test box before building my center console was 3 cubes, 28hz, single 12in gothic facing to the rear and port up. Had 4 inches of clearance between sub and cab wall.... was hitting just over 136db alone. You box should have been minimal 10 cubes n 30hz for specs correct? The enclosure really makes a difference with these subs.

    Yep just because you don't spend a crazy amount of money doesn't mean that your system can't beat hard, when I got my first setup I had four 15-in Orion Cobalt the black ones and a audiopipe 1500d the first one they came out with at 1 ohm on a kinetic 2400 and it was 147db and then I ended up building that setup same box into a wall and I was hitting 153db and I only spent around $600 with the head unit included because I got the box for free from my friend that had a car audio shop and I got the kinetic battery for next to nothing because I traded a couple pairs of Infinity and MTX door speakers that I've got out of a car the junkyard that were basically brand new but that guy definitely hooked me up, but it ended up getting me on to a car audio team because they seen the passion I have for car audio. It was so much fun, Awesome work bro ty Parker for showing people that you don't have to buy the expensive stuff to have fun. You rock bro.

    Those amps are only rated at 2 ohms, but plenty of people run them at 1ohm just fine and they push around 900w at that impedance. I've tried it myself and didn't have any issues. The subs can handle 600-700w each, so it's not even like they were being pushed near their limit here.
    Many times people are petty criticizing things just because it's easily accessible to everyone. Walmart also sells Goodyear tires and even Iphones, on top of currently selling Kicker and having sold Rockford Fosgate in the past, yet it doesn't mean any of these things are trash. The audio community should be concerned more about how good something is, not where it was bought.
    When it comes to buying something on a budget but getting surprising quality, I feel like the two kings are Power Acoustik and NVX.

  • @disgruntledveteran9199
    @disgruntledveteran9199 2 роки тому

    I have been using power acoustik gothic speakers and the power acoustik rzr 2500 watt amp in conjunction with the gothic subs for several years. Price of subs and amp you can't go wrong. Put the power acoustik speakers and subs Product against Product of the same $ I'd go with the power acoustik

    I think that the box is acting more as really leaky sealed box. Maybe you don't care and that's cool but i recommend getting someone to show you how to use winISD or BassBassPro. I know the videos aren't supposed to be scientific but using those programs would help you be more scientific. Technically you don't even need to buy subwoofers and test them because winISD will tell how you which one is louder over the frequency range and any size box. The ports are way to close to the back wall and then they're covered up the seats too. The air is really restricted. I'd be curious to see how much louder you could make it with small changes to the box and aiming the ports up so they can extend from the box and make room for airflow. I would assume port up and subs facing backwards would be the loudest but the subs should have some breathing room too before the back wall if possible. I graph subs on bassboxpro to compare for fun and to see what's up with some of the brands idk much about.
    Edit: to sound like less of a dick

    Hey I really like your videos and would really like some help with my build and advice from you and also if have some requests of what I'd like to see you make a video about. First off I have a 06 dodge ram mega cab that I have been trying to get a custom box built for it to that will fit behind the rear seats and not under, I've found numerous boxes but they are all for a sealed enclosure which is not what I'm wanting. I want a ported/slot box that will be big enough to have the space to add two more subs if I want to later on but right now I only want it for two 12s, the thing is I have to have 7-3/4" mounting depth for the subs I have already which are the skar evl-12d4 and I have the skar rp2000.1 amp that is pushing them for now but getting another amp so the subs can be pushed by their own amp. I have removed all my inside Plastic trim and panels that are factory on every vehicle which I don't care if the back panel that is under the rear window stays removed that's what I had planned for but I would like to possibly be able to put the side trim panels back in if there is any way possible but if not as long as I can make the final design look like it was made at the factory that is great. I know I have a lot of demands and request but I know your audio skills are great so if anyone is able to help me out it's you. With the side panels installed it leaves me with just a little more the 52" from left to right for the box to fit. The thing that is giving me such a hard time is trying to get the internal air space available once the subs are installed and I know there is a method to calculate that by multiplying width by height by length and then divide that by some other number or something like that but the problem Im having is every search I do regarding this only give details for the shape of a square or rectangle box or a wedge shaped box and the box I am needing is neither of those but is similar to the wedge shaped box except that the back of the box on the wedge looks like this ] but mine needs to be like that but not straight up at about around 13 inches or so there needs to be a 90° angle that turns to the front of the box for about 1-1/2" and then a 90° angle turn back up to the top of this makes any sense, I don't know how to describe it with only words and if I could add pictures I'd show you exactly what I'm talking about. The reason the shape is needing to be that way is because at the rear of the cab of my truck below the rear window there is a added brace of sort to give the rear window more support and better structure to the back of the cab and it sticks out from the back of cab towards the front of the truck about 1 inch and that's why I need it to be that shape and with that shape I don't know how to calculate the dimensions to get the over all volume and the subs I have require 2 cubic feet per sub for a ported box tuned at 32hz which is the manufacturer requirements and data. I'd like the ports to be at the top of the box facing the roof but to make things more difficult I'd like to have the port made so that I can but a 90° elbow on the end of the port so that I could have the ports be adjustable with adding either the 90° pvc elbo or maybe a 45° pvc elbo or similar that way it's also changing the tune of the port and hz just a little if this makes sense to you. For example I built a box back in the early 2000s that was in a Suzuki sidekick that was a bandbass style box but all covered except the port which I made out of a 6" PVC pipe and several different 6" PVC fittings to be interchangeable and it would make a big difference with the different type of music I played when changing out the end fitting and I really like that concept and worked really good so it would be perfect if that was possible. If your willing to help me out i would be very thankful and you can direct message me or private message or if I am able to give my email that would be fine to. Thank you again sorry for the novel comment I have made. The ideas for the videos I'd like to see you do would be to possibly do some subs and amps from the app called wish they are very cheap in price and some of the deals you can buy 4 subs for the price of 1 no joke and I'd like to actually see what it is that you build and get please

    👍 I got two 2,500 watts power acoustic sub speakers the same ones you have in this video and a 2,500 watt power acoustic amplifier that goes with those sub speakers from Walmart and I can vouch with you that its a good purchase.

    Think it would make a difference if the ports were at least 8 inches from the back wall. They are like 2 inches at max from the way it looks. I figure that would at least be noisy but not near enough flow. Have you experimented with this box since?

    when did people stop using subflooring or mdf for boxes plywood does not reflect the sound it absorbs it also use liquid nail subfloor instead of regular latex caulk it dries super strong and only 3 dollars a tube at lowes ect.

    No bad for an inexpensive build. My 17 yr old nephew wants a system in his 98 accord. We may just do an inexpensive Walmart system like this for starters

    Honestly, I found having the subs being mirrored but wired the same made the same effect but smaller box. Then I also invert the subs for even more value of space. Just can't have them in a row like that
