      So you didn't know his music, but he's a legend?...just cause someone dies doesn't make them a better artist

    • @EddieNightTV
      @EddieNightTV 5 років тому +26

      Influentially Fluent true, but it doesn’t take listening to someone’s music to acknowledge they are legendary. Never listen to the Beatles, Elton John, or many other artist. Doesn’t mean I didn’t see their impact on their genre. I can still see why they are legendary

      Influentially Fluent It’s not just music he was a great philanthropist , if u research the things he has done you will think of him as a legend too.

    • @Joejoes1276
      @Joejoes1276 5 років тому +2

      Idk, it's just when someone dies, everyone jumps on the bandwagon to say they're a legend as some sort of sympathetic homage, but realistically noone cares a few years later, look at Mac Miller, ain't noone talking bout him anymore

    Y'all mentioned Tupac & then he says that line.
    "A red rose through a grey pavement"
    That's a play off of a Tupac line.
    Look up "The Rose that grew Through Concrete"
    It's a Tupac book that was published of just some of his old poems & thoughts.

    Listening to "Rack's In The Middle" now is crazy as well. Where he's talking about his homie getting shot in his 30's after all those years of bangin. Almost like he predicted his own future without even knowing it.

    Romans 5:3-5 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

    What Ryan said really struck a chord with me. Just got out of HS, and have been wanting to start making music (have a lot of shit written) but have been conflicted on even giving it a shot, because of the fear of failure, and not being able to survive off of it. Just want to let you guys know that you are inspiring many out there, and keep it up. You guys and Budden are making real shit, that could help whoever the next Cole/kdot ends up being

    Where do you go from here.... people need to pick up the torch! If not... those who silenced him win!
    Keep fighting for what's right! Making the world better by uplifting children in his community is an AMAZING thing!!!
    Yes, I'm white, but I was raised by a single mother who was fighting cancer most of my life. If not for my Grandmother I would have turned out so much different than I did... I know about poverty and how hard it is to get out of it.... It's AMAZING how he not only did it.... but he was paying it forward!

    I agree with what you said in regard to the reason he stayed where he was but I also think it was to show the world what he was capable of doing. This wasn't some charity play from a rich neighborhood as tribute to where he grew up. He showed his community and the world that with the right focus, drive, education and dedication we could be the change we wanted to see for ourselves and our loved ones. And we could do it without waiting for anyone to give us a chance. Nipsey proved we have the means to create our own opportunities.

    The marathon continues; Nipsey made the move that he did, and even got to the point where he was able to buy the block that he came up on, but the vision is still there for everyone to see.
    Ownership is the key.
    Buy the block if you can buy the block, buy homes if you can buy homes, set your mind and effort to owning the place that you lay to sleep at. Buy stock if you can by stock; any assets that you can get your hands on, hold on to them.
    In Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, New York, Chicago, Miami, and every other city/town across this country, people owning where they're raised and investing their time/energy/money in the community will make an impact.

    This was such a classy way to honor him. His message, and more importantly, his actions were needed. Honestly, what came to mind when I heard was a speech on West Wing from back in the day: "The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. This is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard. We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach we reach for the stars." Nipsey Hussle may not have been perfect, but he damn sure was an American hero.

    Fellas...... Just wanted to say, appreciate you guys more than you know. Forget the song right now, just wanted to say your reaction and your words and comments. Your beliefs. You said some mighty poweful things in this video. Thank you for that. I am hoping that your thousands and thousands of subs see this video and really put down the distractions and pay attention and listen, not just hear what you are saying but really sit back and listen to what you are saying. It’s amazing that it’s 2019 and still we need to have that bigger conversation. Right now 41k have watched this video. I am hopeful that each of the 41k that has watched- really sat back and took in the commentary you two gave. And with that, I hope they start the bigger conversation. It’s more than time for us to be inclusive rather than exclusive. Why is it we only rally together in the midst of a tragedy? Why can’t we all rally together each and every goddamn day of our lives? Because we don’t know when our last breath is. It doesn’t matter what race, gender, religion, political beliefs, sexual preference, age, height, weight, or any of the other categories used to divide us..... the bottom line is we are all people. No, we may not like everyone, but it doesn’t damn hurt to be nice and treat people like people no matter where they come from. How many more years are we gonna waste on senselessness? Thank you guys a million for what you do. As always, can’t wait for what’s next from y’all.

    I first heard of him at the Grammys. I heard about his assassination the day, in the hours after it happened. It was devastating to hear of another artist, flashbacks to John Lennon. Then to learn what he was doing for his community, for others... Made it so much worse. It was just like John Lennon. Understand the negative reactions you had... Why do we keep doing these things to ourselves? Over some prideful bullshit. Sorry for the loss of such an incredible human being. The world is a sadder place for it. Sending you guys some love and a great video ❤️💞❤️

    Nipsey collaborated with Iddris Sandu (check out the excellent interview Iddris did with Angie Martinez about how he met Nipsey) to create a program which would teach people from his neighborhood, and around the world, how to write coding. In that interview, Iddris talked about Nipsey’s “guns for coding” program where any gang banger who was ready to turn in his or her gun, that Nipsey and Iddris would teach them how to write coding so they could become entrepreneurs. So Iddris said that as a young gang banger was on his way to kill another gang banger who had pissed him off, he heard Nipsey talk about the program, and that Nipsey had just died and that Nipsey’s words changed his heart. The young man no longer wanted to take a life, but instead wanted to learn coding. So the young man tracked down Iddris and explained to him what was happening with him mentally, and asked if he could trade his gun and gang banging for coding. After asking the young man a few questions and because the young man said he heard Nipsey speak on it, Iddris agreed to do it. Iddris said that he continues what he and Nipsey started. That is one of many reasons why although it's been a year, it's still Day One with me. I miss this young man so much and I had never even met him. My daughter and her husband absolutely loved Nipsey mainly because of what he was doing in his neighborhood and his life. On her husband’s birthday, she surprised him, who idolized Nipsey, with backstage passes to his concert. When she took her husband out, he had no idea he was going to see Nipsey. And she was so excited when telling me about the positivity and originality of Nipsey’s concerts, but I was too busy to listen (at 62 years old I love all forms of expression, rap, R&B, Jazz, country, etc.). When I heard about his passing, I learned everything about him especially because she tried to tell me who he was. It’s a very old, but true adage, we have to stop and smell the roses. His passing brought that old adage front and center for me. Thank you for your review of Dedication. It made me go and look up the lyrics so that I can absorb the meanings! We lost a King! The Marathon Will Continue!!!
