Also, I have rope envy. I really like the rope you are demoing with. Great color and looks really nice to work with. Good diameter and nice flexibility.
I have been using this version of the double dragon knot for some time know. It has replaced all of my pre-tied knots, such as used on my rapid deploy ridgeline. I also carry a number of short pieces of cord, 3-12 feet long, called bush zip ties (Blackie Thomas) which have a double dragon knot on one end and an arbor knot, with release tab, on the other end.
I have been tying this improved version of the Double Dragon for that past six months. I don't see a downside. It's balanced as explained in the video. The working end hangs outside of the loop. There is no pre-knot, which means you can wrap the rope around an object without planning beforehand. It's is rock solid secure. It can be tied in the bite or as an end loop. The bight tying method is super easy to remember and can be used to tie an end loop in case you forget the end loop tying method. On top of all those great features, it does not jam even though it tightens up rock solid, and I have tested the non-jamming by loading the loop with massive weight.
Like it... you can also back a bight before cinching and untie it a little easier after loading. I always look for a way out especially if your working with worn rope👍🏼 Thanks for sharing
I would call Serena’s version a “double” angler’s loop rather than a different version of the double dragon loop. The dragon doesn’t have a cross in the collar, while the angler’s loop does. Evidently, the double dragon is superior to the angler’s loop if you need to untie the knot because it doesn’t jam up on you. Having it jam up can be a good thing though if it’s your fishing line and you want to make extra sure it doesn’t come undone.
I think it is not related with the Angler's perfection loop , but with the so called "flash bowline", with an extra turn,.You may also come across to it under the name of "double tugboat B" in the knotting community. Both good knots in general and tiable in the bight.Tugboat style loopknots, are in general, inline profliles loaded as end of line knot structures. One other way of decoding it, is to picture it as a different loading profile of a double cowboy TIB bowline if you think of the eye legs as the two ends and the SPart/tail connected to form the eye of the bowline,
@@martinschopflocher9908 With all the respect, the knot demonstrated in this video, is the double tugboat B/double flash bowline/double tugboat bowline, while its name, is not of my own invention but a well established moniker, in the knotting community.Although, both knots appear to have similar profiles, there is a major difference in their core nubs, (the angler's overhand), that affects the overall functionality.I'm sorry, the angler's loop, single or double wrap is not an excellent knot, unless you want a permanent jammed eyeknot, in the end of your fishing line. However, if you still wish to get the perfection loop directly from the original poster's TIB tying instructions, just twist clockwise the leftmost bight, just before you perform the final tuck. igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=5628.0
When I figured out this knot I thought I had something "new" but I wasn't sure. My video shows the same way of tying that you do. I also show how to tie it around something. It's really similar to the normal DD. In case anyone wants to see my take on this, here's my video: ua-cam.com/video/eGslZNzFch0/v-deo.html
Came up with exactly the same thing myself some time ago. As clifford w Ashley did say, usually when adding extra turns to something that works, you end up detracting from the best result. Knot this time!
The end result of this knot is an Angler's/Perfection Loop with an extra turn.
Exactly! This version is the Double tuck Perfection Loop or Angler's loop. No need to look for a new name for this excellent knot.
No it's not
@@alicanay1 yes it is
It is. Also known (with single wrap) as a steamboat knot when making with rope
The internet is great :D - why wouldn't @alicanay1 explain why it is not the anglers loop when he/she is so sure?
I like his voice, Reminds me my dad's cheerfulness and seriousness 😂

Wow that's nice!
That is an attractive loop, what is it used for?
Tying a loop as a grip to pull on a rope, trucker’s hitch mid loop.
@@txtoolcrib Thanks, I like the name, double dragon 🐉, I will try it out
But is the a symmetrical more secure because it is offset?
I wish science would hurry up with our brain-implanted computer chips. That way I won't forget all these cool knots.

Yes, it is the double tuck perfection loop (=angler's loop)! No need to invent new names to existing knoots.

@@kostgreg62 Just to clarify, I found the knot in the video to be non-jamming. I have tested it on heavy loads.

Looks like a double perfection loop which won’t come undone if you load it hard

I agree.
Very nice, Tnx
I care more about how much it binds under heavy load than cosmetic issues...
The Double Dragon 2.0
Maybe you can call it the centered double dragon!
serena dragon loop
Not sure what your loop was. It was not a Double Dragon.
