THE VIDEO WASN'T RECOMMENDED TO ME :( looked at the channel cause i missed the vids and found another banger. I did a research paper on media violence and the psychology behind everything is awesome!
Man UA-cam really did me dirty 😭 they really said "video not interesting enough to recommend". Algorithmically it isn't doing as well as the others but I'm glad you liked it! :) And I agree I think stuff like this is super interesting. Mostly the history of it but everything else as well
great video, i really like your commentary. could you tell what is the track playing in the background at 9:19/'Why We Like Them" section of the video?
Hey thanks! I'm really glad you liked it. And the song is "Around" from the Hotline Miami 2 Soundtrack. One of the few slower jams in the game but it's a really good one. Kinda sad but very catchy lol
I like violence in videogames, I think visual violence makes combat a lot more relevant and fun, etc, but I dislike cruelty. I dislike manhunt and postal, and while I do like Mortal Kombat, I dislike some specific fatalities in the most recent iterations that are not necessarily the most gory, but that are more cruel, and I dislike the facial expression the killed character make that realistically depict fear and pain. Videogames are videogames to me, and unless the reason for the violence in game is not fun (I.E. a painful death in a war game, like a painful death in Im Westen nichts Neues, used to cause reflection and introspection) I like it graphical, fast and shallow.
That's a good stance and a great point to point out, there's a difference between cruelty and something just being violent. I like postal just due to how over the top it is as it feels to me almost like a parody of violent video games. I think it can be used as a great way to tell a story or a theme. Something like god of war as a recent example. but any game that uses it as a plot device we see it a lot in stuff where the whole plot is revenge.
I find it kinda dumb how some of these games preach about violence but they never give you the choice. Same things with Spec Ops The Line... you have to use the white phosperous to proceed with the game but then they try to make you feel bad. The devs were kinda full of themselves.
I definitely understand that. Like on one hand it's kind of effective in making people feel the way the devs want you to but on the other hand it's not like they gave you much of a choice. That's why I think games that have different endings depending on your actions are neat
This is such an old discourse that I'm glad has stagnated throughout time; the same can be applied to comic books and violent cartoons. I just find it silly overall. Sure, children and teenagers are impressionable; but we're simply ignoring their very autonomy and creative power to decide and act, it's as if we've simply reduced them to deterministic products that are so predictable and unable to decide what's real or what's not. I think it would take a lot of things to influence and act upon a violent thought; like a matter of both nurture and nature. Environmental and biological factors shape them to be the nightmare the media that is trying to "paint" It's a slippery slope, one that I am so annoyed of
Exactly, there's a lot of factors and I think oftentimes the media just likes to blame video games cause it's convenient or easy. In most instances there's some kind of mental issue or outside factor that causes people to behave in such ways.
Lol im not even gonna lie to you, that rating system was a wadte of tume and rescources for legislation. Until i was like 17 i didn't even know what they were for 😂 We never went by them
that's a mood lol my parents never really went by it either. in fact my dad was a big fan of GTA when he was around and so I played a lot of Vice City when I was like 10 lmao
There is no such thing as violence in video game And if there is no such thing called video game cause violence because it does not parents cause kids to Miss behave.
Why only 1.8k subs wtf? God bless UA-cam for recommending this channel

@@captainmeaty Thank you!
Love this channel! ❤😊❤
Hey thanks so much buddy! I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos!
The one game I want to buy is hatred
I think the chainsaw gun in Gears of War would've been a fun mention. It was gory and satisfying, perfect to let off some steam back in the day.
Unfortunately I never played the series but so many people talk about the series very highly, it's definitely on my backlog!
Oh the infamous backlog, I feel you brother

Should've mentioned hatred lol

From what I've noticed it's mostly outside factors that cause people to be violent not the actual video games themselves.
