Trench Crusade has been around for a while as community based system. You aren't going to be able to profit off of it like 40k, because this is a direct response to other gaming company's greed. Surprised you just noticed it, but I guess money is the only way to get some people's attention.
DEI mods that the creator endorsed months ago. TC became dead on arrival. Surprised you're only talking about them now when they killed the wind in their sails back in the summer when they banned anyone disagreeing with woke stuff on their discord. This was very big in the Warhammer community at the time. Again, only a few months ago...
The fact that they embrace 3D printing is going to be such a massive win for them. Their own models look amazing but the amount of third party websites with models that fit perfectly in the setting is huge.
... For now... Seriously, I'm a newish to WH (like... 8 years), but as I understand GW used to be a lot more pro kitbash and adding your own stuff before my times.
@@65infanteriayou’d think with Warhammer becoming a multimedia juggernaut they’d embrace more people actually playing the tabletop and having artistic expression with models. Yeah, Im a part of the TC community and the creators promised that the rules will always be free online and you can always 3d print and kitbash your models, as long as the base sizes match. As of right now i wouldnt say Trench Crusade is exceptional in terms of mechanical work. However, I'm pretty hyped that an alternative to warhamemr has managed to reach that level of interest AT ALL, let alone so successfully on the financial front. I wish the TC team the best and hope their game really takes off. Plus the minis are badass
From what I've played with my friends it feels much more 'narrative focused' than a 40k game, with your warband being your own cast of characters within the setting.
I've been following TC for months now and donated to the Kickstarter not because I'm a tabletop player, but for the LORE. Good video, but saying the models are ininspired is a REALLY hot take! Sure, they have passing similarities to Warhammer stuff, but like... Take a look at them? They're so much crazier and have a unique look.
It's like a steampunk fantasy alt history...I dig it. Those models are sick. One of the reasons I never got into the 40K models is the characters looked a bit too cartoonish to me. These, on the other hand, look more realistic. I'm all about it!
Catholic crusade WW1 grimdark setting? Sign me up. Hopefully they decide to add more armies soon like Africa, a nordic/pagan themed faction, new world aztec/native American faction, spanish inquisition, etc
I don't see the Nordic pagans fitting at all, every faction follows the same single divine entity. Hence we got the muslims and the Christians side by side. I could see other Abrahamic religions fitting well. Judaic Kazar state perhaps? But anything polytheistic is a poor fit lore wise. I also personally don't think Norse pagans need to be added to literally everything, but that is a personal gripe. You could use Hinduism if you stick to the monotheistic sect within it. Africa on the other hand has quite a few traditional faiths that has a single higher divinity so they could fit. Would be cool to explore that if they do proper research.
@@mormacilI mean there are nordic christians and there was a period of time when they did a mixed norse and christian religion. Maybe I should have put them separate from pagans. Also there’s nothing wrong with a faction that doesn’t quite fit in like the tau in warhammer 40k a little dichotomy isn’t bad. An odd one out sort of faction to break up monotony especially as a bad guy faction because my lord the demon faction are basically the same but slightly re-skinned or straight from W40k. A bit of bad guy variety is welcome
@@Banished-rx4ol Nordic Christians were just Christians. Nordic Christians differed barely from Baltic, British and say Dutch Christians of the time. I did respond mostly to the pagan part. Norse pagans are very distinct from Nordic Christians and the latter are essentially already in the game under New Antioch, like all non-Orthodox European Christians. And I disagree the bad guys are to much like W40K, if anything they just draw from the same well. A certain level of similarity is inevitable and not an issue. And we don't need to go beyond Abrahamic religions to find some more demonic diversity. Manichaeism might be a cool direction to look at and fit better than anything Nordic.
Abyssinia and its christians are already being part of the incoming setting. They are protecting the country against the legions of Mammon that seek to rob all the riches of the region (be prepared to see people accuse the setting of "wOkEnEsS" due the subtle political commentary of that). Also, in the near future, the Hussar Vampires lead by none other than Vlad Teppes will also be part of the setting as part of the "forces of light".
If they do flesh out the lore for it a bit more, I’d love to see your takes on it, while I love your 40k lore it’s always refreshing to see something new
I said this in tabletop times video on trench crusade and I’ll say it here, the artillery witch model is beyond dope. I adore the idea of mage summoning modern weapons like missiles and just hurling them at the enemy. I also think the pose is just beyond amazing.
Gotta admit, the design of the units is awesome. Love to see sallets/stahlhems being used here and there, and the Sultanate faction has a really cool concept behind. The demonic units also are sick to an extent that GW would never dare to approach. As a WH lore enthusiast (I don’t have the money or skills to paint minis) I like what I am seeing in Trench Crusade.
I believe the company is also encouraging digital sculptors to make their own versions of minis and you can apply for a "Seal of Approval" from the company, basically stating that these minis fit the aesthetic of the game and lore so well they're perfect for it. It's almost like open source table top wargaming, and I'm all for it!
Warhammer, but Catholic, as a devout Catholic, and WH40K fan, that's legit why I got into this, the lore is so sick. Who doesn't imagine themselves as a zealous, bloodthirsty Catholic charging to the enemy, strengthened by your faith in the Lord and seething hatred for the heretic and demon?
Other religous people should just understand that the entire game was made as a critique of religion. Within a setting where they're the "good guys" the fanatical humanity of trench crusade aren't good people, they're incredibly evil Religious people are fine, and I know you lot also get fed up with the actual fascists trying to invade your religious communities, but I just need to say as such for those people who I know have seen this video and are in these comments: I've had to have this f-ing discussion so much recently, as a load of the fash who left 40k recently (thank f) have forced their way into trench crusade, thinking that it's for them, when it's not. The creators are, and have always been, incredibly progressive. 28mag is incredibly queer supportive, they have women only editions, and tonnes of trans artists who do work for them. Even then, the community is incredibly diverse, you have incredibly progressive atheists, progressive religious people, traditional religious people. People in the community disagree with each other, and the creators, and that's fine (literally exactly the same as Warhammer), but what isn't condoned is extremism, which is now becoming a slowly growing problem I've been seeing over the last half a year You're fine tbh, religious people are welcome, they make the scene more diverse and fun, but hopefully just realise that the game is a critique of religion, still I doubt nay catholic would want Catholicism to be anything like in the game (humanity literally clones "Jesus" to feed people his flesh). But the fash coming over and thinking this game is for them? F off
@@fvoarin1307Your taking this too seriously, it's just religious christians finally getting some media that represents them, even if it's on a extream setting. They also want partnerships with 3rd party miniature designers & printers. Something GW would never ever ever do. Maybe new business opportunity for you @majorkill
Trench crusade has me in essence thinking of it as: A Warhammer 40.000 like world but instead of the turning point of humanity being in the future right after the end of the dark age of technology, the turning point was during the crusades in the dark ages. So instead of being in a grimdark world 40.000 years in the future, its a grimdark world somewhere around the 1800's to late 1900's.
I remember hearing about Trench Crusade some months ago. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see it get this much support.
Pretty cool to see more and more people talk about the game. I was pretty shocked when I checked the TC FB group & to see how many people thought the video & coverage from Major was negative.
Whenever something becomes more mainstream, there will always be some push back from fans that are already there. And a MK video will bring more attention to it, so honestly im not that surprised
Really glad major put "competitor" on the title, instead of any flashy clickbait titles, trench crusade could be easilly called ww1 warhmmer but its its own thing, glad major knows that :)
It's refreshing to see a skirmish-based tabletop game on the horizon. For those of us that are disillusioned with the recent 40k rulesets, an alternative that may have some momentum behind it is most welcome.
With a WW1 type setting you could probably add in more pulp elements to give some fun hope spots. Lime, imagine Doc Savage cruising around doing weird stuff here. Or the "Weird Menace" pulp villain... Uh... Doctor Satan.
DAY 90: A video about, what if there were no loyalist elements in the traitor legions, this would also count for omegon and magnus. So there would be no need for the culling at isthvaan and weakening of the traitor forces. Giving the traitors a boost in numbers and cohesion, plus a lot of important named characters. it would be very intresting to see what all the effects would be on the possible succes of the heresy.
I actually think the lore is mid, and even I am supporting the kickstarter, I hope they hire some decent writters to work on the coherence and cohesion of information.
Well we literally have like, the basic descriptions of the setting, how it started, a simple timeline of key events and then whetever the devs throw into discord. There really isn't much to go off of. Though I can get where you are coming from, I just dig how cool this is and want to see what is done with it rather then trying to go for something hyper complex or super original.
@@Goblinhandler i disagree, i believe a sense of ideals and coherence are vital in games like these and they should be working on it non stop it has been 4 months already and we don't have much besides "hell got lose, it is invading earth, crusaders somehow got late 1800's weapons, and muslims are also there doing something we are not really sure of
It's Tuomas Pirinen and 6th Ed. You can bet your ass it's gonna be dark. Probably serious too. Tbh, it don't look like my jam. I definitely need more panache. Than Midnight Black Death Metal lol.

Good or not, i think we can all agree that there is atleast something that can compete with GW. Ofcourse it will probably not be as successful as Warhammer stuff, but GW needs serious competition to keep their pricing and quality in check. So even if you dont like for example Trench Crusade, its success would be an overall boon to the general market
You should also check out Lancer, it's like warhammer but technology never regressed and the focus is on mechs and mega corperations that pretty much own the galaxy.
I love Warhammer, but I’m definitely excited about trench Crusade. I backed the Kickstarter… It’s got the old school grim dark that games workshop has shifted away from a bit.
I almost supported the KS and stopped just short because I have no one to play with. I haven't table topped since like 2005 or so. The setting art is awesome.
TBH, one of the most obnoxious aspects of the GW business model is that they actively steal IP, then exert legal pressures upon small creators whom “appear” to infringe upon “their” copyrights.
If modding is encouraged, Majorkill could field a themed squad, and sell the minis together with lore images and backstory. It would be a interesting partnership.
The main problem is, 3D printing is a niche market. Yeah you can commission and pay others to 3D print your models, but it’s not on the scale of plastic sales. It’s been around longer than 3D printing and won’t leave anytime soon.
Trench Crusade looks SUPER interesting. If I can give another grim dark recommendation that reminds me a lil bit of the IP, is Witchfire. Please give it a try, phenomenal game
If you want to compare the game to something coming out of current GW, compare it to Necromunda - both skirmish level games with alternate activations, designed mostly with campaign play in mind. Trench Crusade has much more streamlined and modern rules though, which is a positive in my eyes. I think calling the mini designs "uninspired" compared to 40K is a little unfair. The art direction of both worlds certainly share a lot of real world influences, but they each have distinctly their own aesthetic - I'm not about to mistake a TC mini for a 40K mini or vice versa.

"Fighting over whos imaginary friend is real" meanwhile, they're literally real..... lol
I remember hearing about Trench Crusade some months ago. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see it get this much support.
If you made some lore vids of trench crusade that would be so fucking cool
Video idea: How would modern imperium be different if Malcador survived the Siege of Terra/How would Malcador react to modern imperium?
My mate put me onto trench crusade a while back so i backed the official launch. Can't wait for my mini to arrive
So great that you cover this anazing setting! It has such epic and dark lore
im so glad you did a vid on this
Pretty cool to see more and more people talk about the game.
I knew about trench crusade for a year now and its absolutly amazing
I like trench crusade mostly because of the Iron Sultanate. It's hard to get cool ME faction representation in games
Whoa they got a couple of great authors to help write their lore!
It's refreshing to see a skirmish-based tabletop game on the horizon. For those of us that are disillusioned with the recent 40k rulesets, an alternative that may have some momentum behind it is most welcome.
Found this stuff a couple months ago. Metal af
Can't wait for "Trench Crusade explained by an Australian."
With a WW1 type setting you could probably add in more pulp elements to give some fun hope spots.
Lime, imagine Doc Savage cruising around doing weird stuff here.
Or the "Weird Menace" pulp villain...
Uh... Doctor Satan.
Make me think of a dream I had of pulp character named Doctor Zodd.
One word: Mordhiem and GorkaMorka are the best games ever.
Can’t count: You
That's eight words
@@Jonbmx666leave the poor lad alone, you know how Orks are. Cant count, only fight
Charles Barkley moment lmao
@@Jonbmx666 Oh my!
They can't do much to improve a setting that started off tryhard
Well we literally have like, the basic descriptions of the setting, how it started, a simple timeline of key events and then whetever the devs throw into discord.
There really isn't much to go off of.
Though I can get where you are coming from, I just dig how cool this is and want to see what is done with it rather then trying to go for something hyper complex or super original.
@@Goblinhandler i disagree, i believe a sense of ideals and coherence are vital in games like these and they should be working on it non stop
it has been 4 months already and we don't have much besides "hell got lose, it is invading earth, crusaders somehow got late 1800's weapons, and muslims are also there doing something we are not really sure of
It's Tuomas Pirinen and 6th Ed. You can bet your ass it's gonna be dark. Probably serious too. Tbh, it don't look like my jam. I definitely need more panache. Than Midnight Black Death Metal lol.
YOOOOO!!!! Trench Crusade W! It goes up in the world!!! Amazing to see you cover it Major. Love this universe and I am happy I backed them for a book.
It's a great universe that I plan on making a story for. This is GREAT to see! Happy to see you in the Trenches Major.
Just goes to show that if you don’t give your customers what they want, your competition will provide it for them.
God I love trench crusade. I am a staunch Sultanate of the iron wall enjoyer
The Wall stands!
@Miron_Marnic And by Allah it will for the next 200 years!
@@pohmot9933 Until the Day of Judgement, the servants of Allah will stand!
@@Miron_Marnic I'd you couldn't be iron sultanate who would you be? I'd be the plaque knights.
@pohmot9933 I hate Nurgle, and Beelzebub is him but a bigger prick. If not the Sultanate, I'd pick New Antioch
After seeing the black Friday sale I immediately stopped everything and got my black templar's friend a chaplain lol.

Trench crusade is badass
I love Warhammer, but I’m definitely excited about trench Crusade. I backed the Kickstarter… It’s got the old school grim dark that games workshop has shifted away from a bit.
I almost supported the KS and stopped just short because I have no one to play with. I haven't table topped since like 2005 or so. The setting art is awesome.
we MIGHT be done for majorkill.
TBH, one of the most obnoxious aspects of the GW business model is that they actively steal IP, then exert legal pressures upon small creators whom “appear” to infringe upon “their” copyrights.
Got in on the kickstarter, but only with a tenner. But that's enough to be able to grab some add ons later. 🤘Looks amazing.
If Thorpe and McNeil write novels for this setting, I'm in
Crusades were counter-offences to theft/conquest, not theological.
One of the guys who made it, helped create Mordheim. So to some extent, it's as original as it gets, if you consider originality being from source.
I was just waiting for Makorkill to make a video on trench crusade
Heeeee fooouuunnndddddd itttttttttt. More lorreeeeee
Please man make a blood angel themed mini, the raven guard one goes hard
Trench crusade has the potential to be era defining if they don't fumble the ball here.
If modding is encouraged, Majorkill could field a themed squad, and sell the minis together with lore images and backstory.
It would be a interesting partnership.
Day 144 of asking for a dedicated series of videos detailing in depth the Lion El'Heresy
Let’s go Trench Crusade sweep! Trenchillion dollars baby!
If the miniatures costs less than your average kidney stone im sold
Mr majorkill. What about a video on all the primarch armours...OR a vid on the organization of the space marine legions
More trench crusade please
WE RETAKING JERUSALEM WITH THIS ONE BOYS
I love The name of Great Sultanate of Iron Wall
It's official name is even longer. "The Great Sultanate of the Invincible Iron Wall of the Two Horns thst pierce the Sky"
Talk about the return of Alpharius!
Not for me, but i wish them well as an alternative to GW products.
the artillery witch is so goddamn dope
I have no need for a Warhammer alternative game BUT the models are pretty cool and their use in Horus Heresy or other GW games is undeniable.
one of the cool things about trench crusade that i like is model/unit called witchburner it's an inquisitor that can kill a heretic with a ligma joke
