Because it's a do or die situation. The QB is going to hold onto the ball instead of throwing it away, like he would on a 3rd & 10 for example. I don't think it's much more dangerous than your typical passing play. The safety argument against the 4th & 15 onside kick is dumb in my opinion.
Ty Abbott it’s against any kickoff you get it 4th and 15 and go for it or punt and punts are much safer than kickoffs. The kickoff is the most dangerous play in the nfl it needs to go
@Bleeding Silence I understand that just pointing out that why drafting Mahomes wouldn't have been as high of a priority for the Saints. I'm more of a Chiefs fan anyone else, basically adopted them after the Rams left. And we're basically comparing Mahomes now at the absolute zenith of his prime against a 40 year old Brees with maybe one more left in him. It would be a better discussion to compare a 2009 Brees vs a 2019 Mahomes. I probably would still take Pat but the difference isn't as significant.
@@merle622 Never get back? They were in the playoffs this past season and Taysom Hill looks like he could be a good starting QB. Saying they'll never get back is kind of a dumb statement, they're not a bad franchise like the Browns or Bengals.
Payton stop lying😂 we both know you were going to take Patrick mahomes with the 11th pick if him and marshon fell to 11. Lattimore is a great cornerback but you know how great pat was going to be in your offense
obviously yea... before the Chiefs traded up, they actually told Brees that they were taking Mahomes and for him to be ready. Brees was cool with it but as of this question: Payton is just tiptoeing over it because of respect to Lattimore, who is on his team lol Saying that he wouldve taken Mahomes would be like a slap to Marshon's face... especially if your coach said it (no matter how obvious the answer is lol)

Yeah, the league determined that Sean Payton knew in advance and also approved of a bounty on Brett Favre to intentionally hurt him to get him outta the game. Chiefs better watch their back for dirty play on Mahomes from this dude.
Gerald Stelly a w who only win 1 sb with Drew freaking Brees and is now planing to replace one of the greatest qb of all time with a 30 ur old who has mostly played like a special teams player. Good lick with that

Ryan Finn except the head hunting and suspension part right ?
That 💩 was overblown like like him being suspended for a year .
He's a jerk
Wango Dango he never knew about it ... nice try though.
Nah
Sean Payton is one of the best offensive minds ever in football.

@@nopeteys2424 that's wasn't him, it was the saints old defensive coordinator
Payton speaks his mind, gives nice insight, has nice stories, & thus a great interview, unlike Belichik.
Most criminal thing bears traded up for a qb and didnt chose mahommes 😂
Mitch Trubisky, a guy who's inferior in every level in comparison to Mahomes.
Andrew Harris or at least Deshaun Watson🤦🏽♂️
That move was so stupid i was thinking wth are the bears doing the gm must’ve been high or something

I love seeing you Coach Payton, let’s see where next year takes us

Pretty lame
Please interview Ryan pace and ask this question
Best coach in the NFL💪
How exactly is a QB at more risk on a 4th & 15 after a TD than he is in any other pass heavy situation?
Because it's a do or die situation. The QB is going to hold onto the ball instead of throwing it away, like he would on a 3rd & 10 for example. I don't think it's much more dangerous than your typical passing play. The safety argument against the 4th & 15 onside kick is dumb in my opinion.
because he has to wait longer for a wr to get open at 15 yards making him more vulnerable to a hard hit ...DUUHHH
And also you dont think the defense is gonna give it their all on 4th and 15
Because he doesn’t get hit on an onsides kick. The 4th and 15 would replace it.
Ty Abbott it’s against any kickoff you get it 4th and 15 and go for it or punt and punts are much safer than kickoffs. The kickoff is the most dangerous play in the nfl it needs to go
The fact that I knew this and thought we were gonna draft him
"we wouldn't have taken Mahomes because we clearly aren't as smart as Andy Reid and Brett Veatch"
In Sean Payton's defense when you already have Drew Brees on your team you're probably not too overally concerned about selecting a QB in 2017.
@Bleeding Silence Yes but we're talking 3 years ago and your team still had Drew Brees finding a new QB wasn't your number #1 priority at the time.
@Bleeding Silence I understand that just pointing out that why drafting Mahomes wouldn't have been as high of a priority for the Saints. I'm more of a Chiefs fan anyone else, basically adopted them after the Rams left.
