So since Israel actions are justified because of October the 7th Are hamas actions also justified because of 50 years of brutal occupation and killings and demolishing homes ?

@@marzipanmonkey 100% agree. When people start off a conversation by justifying an act of terrorism or looking for excuses for it, the innocent people caught up in the middle will all too quickly be dehumanised as 'casualties of war' and forgotten.

Does a state have the right to defend itself? Sure, but what does that mean? Does defence equal offence? Does offence equal such brutality that the enemy is too terrified to retaliate? So the response to an act of terror is to commit an act of terror? If the first one didn't provide the defensive aim of scaring people into inaction why would the second one work? A better question would be does Israel have the right to retaliate? The answer would still be sure, but the possible ramifications are more obvious.

......if the Iraq war lasted 75 years and started with Jewish terrorists stealing land (Irgun, Ledi and Haganah to name three).
this is worse than Iraq, 400,000 troops ready to unleash on a population of 2 million. the ratio of troops to civilians is higher than any "war" in human history. it's 400,000 soldiers Vs a population of 2 million, half of which are children and another half women. this is just plain slaughter. hamas has 10,000 members and they are not all fighters, they do (or did) also provide various other government like services, so the number of fighters is probably barely 5000.
this isn't a war, a war is between 2 or more armies, whatever hamas is, they are far from being an army. they don't even have 1 tank.

According to Hamas and others yes,so we have a never ending conflict
@@ppo2424 I'm not saying according to Hamas, I'm saying according to western media and policy makers.
They give Israel the right to defend itself in response to what Hamas did, regardless of the war crimes that are much worse than what hamas did.
But when the Palestinians do it they are deemed terrorist.
And they are in the right in the first place because they are occupied by Israel.
You would think the same logic applied here also 😟
No.
It's not an equation
If you vote to have terrorists as your government, as the Palestinians did, expect consequences.
That caller Paul is absolutely right about the use of language. Its not 'Defence' if its a counter attack. If someone was to break into your home and attacked you, you have the right to fight back. i.e defend your self. However if the following week you went and blew up their home I think it wouldn't still be considered defence anymore in the eyes of the law.
The cannot declare war on Hamas. They are not a country. So they are still bound by international conventions which they will ignore, and the US will veto any punishment.
Err yes it is. The Americans went to war in Afghanistan because the Taliban were sheltering Al Qaeda and Bin Laden. The Palestinians are sheltering Hamas who committed the worst atrocity since 9/11. What’s the difference?

Javid finds it very hard to criticise Israel.
I am an atheist and am against all religions, yet I am still a humane, being.
Is Sajid Javid willing to accept Palestinians as people? Or does he consider them animals, in accordance with Israeli guidelines.
Like a parrot he keeps repeating Israel's right to defend itself, even though they are on the offensive, yet never mentioning the right of Palestinians to defend themselves? Why the double standard?
When the callers are asking the right questions they are getting cut off quickly. The right questions irritate Sajid Javid.
Sajid Javid is coming across as very one-sided. He is sounding just like a government spokesman, towing the government line. This is not what I call independent journalism.
He clearly showed his bias against the first three callers (or was it two? the male callers), all of whom I happen to strongly agree with.
I am unimpressed with you, Sajid Javid. Try a different job. 👎
Why does Sajid have a platform 😅
Sajid you are totally unfair and taking sides.
They want us to believe that one of the most heavily watched borders on the planet didn't see or didn't know or couldn't react quicker to the 7th October attack. I can't believe his comment about being pro Palestine and pro Israel and allegedly believing in the two state solution but then saying Israel has the right to defend itself......sounds like double standards.
Isreal offered peace in 1947 and were attacked by Palestine. In 1967 Palestine attacked again and occupied Palestine out of self defence. Since occupation Isreal has offered peace deal, its allowed Gaza to self govern and ended occupation, Palestine has still attacked Isreal through terrorist attacks. What are Isreal supposed to do? If you ask most Palestinians it's not exist. That's the problem. Isreal isn't going anywhere and Palestine will not accept peace.
Sajid Javid is yet another Tory spokesman for Israel.

That Israel is occupying Palestinian territory isn’t an opinion one can choose to disagree with.
which Palestinian territory? Gaza was part of Egypt and they dont want it back, the West Bank was part of Jordan until 67 when despite pleas from Israel to Jordan not to enter the war they did, and lost. The Golan Heights were Syrian. Palestine was never a country, check it out, it was lines drawn on the map by the British in 1917 after the Ottomans were defeated. The 'Palestinians' have been offered land since the beginning of the 20th century and the continually reject peace and compromise resulting in todays mess
@@dbharrold A peace agreement is not a peace agreement unless Israel is forced to withdraw from the occupied territories and Palestine is given the opportunity to become a sovereign state. This has not yet been on the table. Israel does not seem particularly interested in a two-state solution.

People need to stop with the 'whataboutery', it's getting ridiculous. You can't continuously criticise one side, and then when asked what your feelings are about innocents on the other side being killed/hurt/persecuted, keep answering with 'Yeah, but....' type excuses, basically give a free pass to the terrorist atrocity that triggered the current conflict, and then be shocked that a lot of people aren't automatically agreeing with you.
The lack of compassion for both sides is quite frankly disgusting. You can still support your side and acknowledge how deplorable, inhumane and horrific those initial attacks were.
@@marzipanmonkey 100% agree. After posting this, I saw in this very comment section further down (getting a lot of likes) a post suggesting that the Oct 7th attack was somehow Israel's 'own fault' and suggesting that a lot of people were killed by 'friendly fire' and that Hamas were trying to avoid hurting people and just quietly take hostages. When people start off a conversation by justifying an act of terrorism or looking for excuses for it, the innocent people caught up in the middle will all too quickly be dehumanised as 'casualties of war' and forgotten.
If anything, this caller proves that being an anti-Zionist does not equate to being an anti-Semite. There are many jews around the world and within Israel that are disgusted by the treatment of Palestinans by Israel, for 75 or so years. Saiid …. “But do you condemn Hamas”
Never had any respect for Sajid javid.. he is an absolute disgrace!
