Hay man, thanks for this video. I just installed an OEM brake controller in my 2011 F150. I didn't have to hunt around looking for the plug, it was right where you said it would be, and the heads up about the cap on it probably saved me about 15 minutes of frustration.

My bolts were not 6mm. I had my mini socket set with me and 9/32 did the trick. I found another thing that made more room was to put the shift lever down into 1st gear and out of the way. I tried to return the part to ford and they would not take it back. I then decided to say screw it and look where Mitch said the plug was, and it was there. I installed the factory trailer brake controller and the supplied fuse and relay and the trailer brake controller had no power. It would not turn on or respond. Again I searched the internet and found a few articles where people had the same issue and said it was because 2 wires need to be ran if your tow package was not factory. This did not sound correct to me. I called the same dealer that quoted me 375$ to install it and told them My trailer brake module just stopped working after my vehicle was sitting a few months and the battery died. They said a diagnostic would be 100$. They called me a hour later and said everything was good to go, they just has to reinitialize it in the pcm. Never had dealerships try to screw me like this before. Personally if your vehicle is not under warranty, just get the usb to obd connector and the software and enable it yourself.
