In my reactions, I show you my initial reaction (or fangirling) to music videos/songs. I sometimes also comment about technical aspects, or the production of the video if anything such stands out to me. I am not trying to delve into meanings, I only want to share my initial thoughts and explain how I think they achieved things and why, in my personal opinion, they work or don't work.

The ending has to do with the whole song and album concept, probably. It makes sense, but yeah, people don't seem to like it that much :D There's actually a story, it starts with "Hann" (2018), through "Hann (Alone in Winter - from this album)", ending with this title track, "Hwaa". Soyeon said that it should be listened in that order. In short : she's a genius, because she thought about this storyline a long time ago :D "Hwaa" was literally made by Soyeon after Queendom, so they've been waiting with it for the right moment and decided to release it this winter, as a title track for "i Burn" :)

Soyeon is amazing, props to her for making the connection to Hann subtle enough to not be “the same” but still apparent enough for it to be noticed. Same with the video, I did notice a resemblance without anything being obviously the same, that’s amazing!
Hwaa is linked directly to Hann, it actually is the third song in that storyline.

What made me like them so much is the fact that they are so hands-on to all their crafts, from their music to mv to stage performances. Gidle are not just idols or singers, they are all artist.

Why didn't Shuhua get more lines? I never got that, I'm kinda new to them, I do know her beauty kinda inspired Soyeon to write it though
@@drianconorman9639 she doesn't want many lines in this song. I saw from Soyeon's mini docu that she doesn't have much freedom with writing on their group songs because she always listen to what the member wants to do with the song.
So even if she wants to give shushu long lines, if shushu isn't ready for it then she won't force it.

Because of the style of the ending, this song is really good for putting into a loop.
Dunno if you want to read all this, but here's a bit more in-depth info. As others have already told you, this is a series that started with Hann in 2018, continues with Hann on this album, and flows into Hwaa. The thing you need to know about is what "han" is first: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_(cultural) "Han is frequently translated as sorrow, spite, rancor, regret, resentment or grief, among many other attempts to explain a concept that has no English equivalent." But the same pronunciation also has other meanings as well. The 2018 song is originally named 한(一), where the Chinese character in parentheses gives the intended alternate meaning: "one". The song sings about getting over an ex who hurt you: "I erase your trace in my bruised heart". This is why the English translation is "Hann (Alone)". The second Hann, on this album, is titled 한(寒); here, the Chinese character says "cold" (with the English translation "Hann (Alone in Winter)". The lyrics there are about feeling as if your heart is frozen, realising that you were lying to yourself about erasing the ex from the memory, knowing that you still think of them every single day, and you wonder if the winter in your heart will ever turn to spring. Here's where Hwaa comes in, with its multiple meanings, again explicitly stated in Chinese characters: 화(火花). Both characters are pronounced "hwa" in Korean. The first means "fire", but is also used metaphorically for "anger" ("I am angry" is literally translated as "fire is coming out"). The second is "flower". The combination of the two characters ("fire flower") means "spark" in Chinese and Japanese (pronounced "huǒhuā" and "hibana", respectively), though I don't think it's a word used in Korean. The song uses all of these meanings: wanting to get the fires of anger to burn up the leftover resentment ("han"), and warm up the heart so flowers of new love can blossom again. Super cool, super deep, in the way how all the wordplay about "han" and "hwa" was used. And it's not the end either: Soyeon and Minnie said that Moon was postponed to be on this album, because it matches the mood, as you look at the sky and... feel. The rest of the songs are also meaningful in their own place in the album. In Miyeon's words, "We tried to express this album as cold winter, hot fire and beautiful but stinging flowers. It also has the meaning of overcoming the scars of separation and being in full bloom again."

Stylistically it's very much connected to Hann, with some sprinkles of Latata also, the little bridging hook being rhythmically similar. Soyeon seems to have brought in some of her more recent traits into the soundscape to give Hwaa it's own feel. The more solid beat is perhaps a subtle example of this but the most obvious is the extreme abrupt ending (something she toyed with to a lesser extent in OMG) which I think mimics the lyrical/emotional themes. The lyrics speak of a broken relationship and burning the winter/emotions to allow flowers to bloom. I think this could either be an attempt to reflect the suddenness of someone breaking up with you or perhaps that moment in a fire when things lose their cohesion and fall (think that point when the last beam in a burning building is charred away and building suddenly collapses). It's a bold choice as you run the risk of alienating your listener but it appears to have worked given the positivity the song is getting! Something like that almost always a deliberate choice to leave a listener feeling uneasy, or left wanting more.
Continuing the theme the musical arrangement is a little less sparse than Hann which I like but Hann has more rhythmically interesting vocals through the verses. The vocal melodies in Hann have a little more bounce to them, vary a little more from section to section and I think this ultimately give the song a little more warm compared to the cold nature I think they are looking to convey in Hwaa's verse, before the 'fire' of the chorus and instrumental section. I would love to hear them performed side by side or in mix on stage as Soyeon has clearly sought to create the second side to what is now a neat musical coin, which I think they could flip on stage to great effect effect.

This video is just beautiful. The styling was perfect on each member and visually, its very hard to choose who killed this the most. This was a lesson basics done EXTREMELY WELL. Personally, I dont mind the sudden end because I think it makes you want to listen to it again so it has replay value. The first time I heard it, I immediately wanted to listen to it again and part of it was because of that ending. I also liked that this was in full korean (no, Im not counting the "yeah" at the start) and is also unapologetically korean. IDLE has a lot of title songs translated to other languages but this is one that I hope DOESNT get a translation (though if they made an MV for that, Im not gonna say no to more IDLE content)
Now talking about the album, I loved all of the girls stuff previously but I have to say this is my favorite album. The thing I find interesting with IDLE and what I think is their strongest trait is that theyre very cinematic. Lion and Oh My God being prime examples but if you just listen to their previous song without the videos, it does lose some of its drama or its not as epic. Their albums also feel like a collection of songs like most typical artists. With that said, this album is their theatricality translated perfectly to their sound. Putting this album on shuffle should be illegal because every song is connected and its their most cohesive album to date. The sequence portrays the full story of the whole album. Its the despair and the coldness of the breakup, the loneliness and the reflection, the learning and the process of moving on. Their cinematic nature was put into the album and I love that. Vocally, also probably their biggest challenge and they succeeded in that. Theyre pushing their vocals and you can hear the improvement in all their singing. Its hard to pick a favorite song.
Overall Im excited. The stages for this are bound to be as beautiful and thinking about the possible outro dances and the grander stages during award season? I can not wait. I wish they do stages for the other songs as well. The only problem is that I wont be able to choose which one I want to see the most.

Been waiting for your reaction ❤️ hwaa has 2 different meanings, fire and flower. My interpretation is that they are burning the memories, turning them into ashes. And in the last chorus, the hwa meaning has changed. they had finally become stronger, ready to move on and bloom like a flower.

For some reason to me, the beat also sounds very similar to Hann, how the music was composed makes it seem like it could be/is linked to Hann?

@@PineappleSenpai I agree, I find it incredibly cool and artistic to do a continuation, doesn't feel very common in pop music. I also like the way it transforms the message. hann 1 is about forgetting a past lover who had wronged you, but its also a bit like fooling yourself which I had always thought was while somewhat empowering also kind of a lack of growth from the victim /slightly toxic? but in hann 2 they realize the importance of the experience and dont lie to themselves about what it meant to them and are real about the loss. then hwaa is super empowering in my perspective anyways, because its about making your own spring bloom through your actions and finding the capability to allow love to bloom within yourself. instead of vengefully forgetting your ex, understanding that pain and longing, and transforming through it
Yeah I don't think I know of any group who has done something like (G)-IDLE has done just now, and possibly they may be the only group who has done it. It would be cool if other groups take inspiration from their concept, but also I feel quite a few people might be up in arms about others copying.

It's not necessarily that people pay to see or get something. A lot of my Patrons supported me before I offered any rewards in return. It's more like they see what I do here and for that choose to support me financially. And as an extra "thank you" I offer them exclusive things. It doesn't have to be reactions only, it can be tutorials, interactions, or even merch, whatever you or they can come up with really.
It's just a nice gesture from them to support me because filming, editing, uploading, and managing a UA-cam channel, no matter how successful, takes time and effort.

Seems they are more interested in more reactions, which is fine by me since they get to choose what they want to see. I see what you mean though, it was absurd to me as well that people would "pay" for something they can also get for free here but there is a difference in intention and also I would never upload the videos I upload on my Patreon here instead.
