Follow the steps below to delete Facebook account on desktop:
1. Open a browser on your PC, Laptop, Chromebook, or Macbook and navigate to facebook.com.
2. Select the your Facebook profile image in the top right of Facebook.
3. In the new menu, select Settings & Privacy and then select Settings.
4. Once in the settings select See more in Accounts Center.
5. Select Personal details.
6. Select Account ownership and control then select Deactivation or deletion.
7. Choose the Facebook account you want to deletion.
8. Make sure Delete account is selected then select Continue.

I have successfully deleted my account BUT if for some reason anyone is having an issue doing this, remember to log out as i believe this is why my account was not successfully deleted the last time i tried to delete it.
