Hi, If you begin testing after ovulation has occurred, it's unlikely that ovulation tests will show positive results. Ovulation tests are most effective when used prior to ovulation to detect the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that precedes ovulation. Testing after ovulation is less likely to yield positive results and may result in clear negatives. If you're trying to conceive, it's best to start testing before ovulation to maximize your chances of detecting the LH surge.
Please determine the length of your menstrual cycle before testing, and count the first day of bleeding as Cycle day 1. If your period length is 21 days, then please start to test LH strips on cycle day 5 (28 days corresponding to cycle day 12). Period length increases 1 day each cycle day to start testing increases 1 day also.
You are right not using the first-morning urine. The ideal time to test LH is between 10 am and 8 pm. Make sure that the urine sample is not polluted or diluted. And ensure you are properly performing the test to avoid an inaccurate result. Focus more on the LH progression. But if the LH level always stays abnormally high, please ask your doctor for advice.

Do you need to take the test in the same lighting each time? I find that the results differ with flash and without.
Lighting can definitely affect how the app reads the results so consistent lighting is recommended.
