☃️ 눈오는날 향재로 설산 만들기
오늘과 같이 눈내리는 날에는 향실 다락에 우두커니 앉아 떨어지는 눈처럼 생긴 향재를 작은 향로안에 담아 설산을 만들기에 딱인 것 같습니다. 내 손안에 옮겨진 설산 봉우리 위에 작은 향목을 올려 호흡을 가다듬는 연습을 해봅니다.
옛날 사람들은 자연이 오랜 세월을 걸쳐서 만들어낸 귀하다 귀한 향목을 작은 조각 조각을 내어 간직했습니다. 그리고 정말 귀하신 손님이 오시면 정성스레 향목을 산봉우리 위에 올려 내었다고 합니다. 이를 곧 향도라고 합니다. 향도에서는 부처님의 말씀을 듣는 것처럼 향을 맡는다고 안하고 듣는다고 표현을 합니다.

On a snowy day like this, I enjoy making a snow peak in my meditation loft. I like to bring this weather to my little incense burner and dream about traveling to a snowy peak in the nature somewhere in the world. I also sit still and observe my breath as I inhale and exhale.
Ancient Chinese people used to collect those tiny precious scented wooden pieces from the nature which had been created over a long period of time. On a special day, a host offers an incense ceremony of making a scented snow peak with great care for the guests. In Buddhism, monks burn a stick of incense as they chant the mantra. Therefore we say we listen to scent rather than smell.
