I am wanting a bike very similar to what you have built but I don’t want to waste any time upgrading after my first purchase and I know that with the new equipment that’s available I can tailor it to ride the way I want it to and never have any reason to want to upgrade. I want to go with the 200 amp Bluetooth connected controller, motorcycle style seat, and the top of the line, forks, and shocks. A more dedicated street tire because I’m not going to be riding any real off road, damping control makes it safer, handle better, stop smoother. And the biggest brakes I can find. Possibly look at changing front hub to one that will accept dual disks. Expecting to see 96 v batteries real soon. I want a bike that could be taken to a track to safely find the top speed 75 would be more than adequate. I’m certain the controller would have to be mounted externally and I will probably have to modify the stock cover to fit it. By I, I mean someone who can build one adequate to hold the larger controller and give it some good armor and splash protection. I would not want to count on peddling only but I would try to find gearing that would allow me to get some exercise at least up to 20 and preferably 30 mph. And make it easier to extend mileage and still keep up with city traffic. And the top advantage of the external mount is more battery space. For that 92v70amp interstate battery lol
This is amazing I wanna build my own battery too but working with live batteries scares me a bit lol. I have 5 ebikes I think a diy stealth bomber is next.
For your brakes you could try the Shimano MT420. There 4 piston brakes. I think they’re around $150. Like you mentioned it’s all about getting the right pads. I’ve been running these MT420 for about eight months now and I’ve been really happy especially with the price point.
I looked into the mt420 brakes they look nice, great price too, but I kind of want the wire for the motor cut off built into the handle I wonder if they make an E version? or I guess I could just rig something.
@@samjohnson517 I checked around and the best option is tektro four piston ebike brakes. They are available with different connections for the sensor that is built in.
Nice build would love to join u on a ride! You should be breaking with your regen..I have not used my rear break in over a year now. I also recommend to mount your controller outside my bac8000 stays cool no matter how much riding i do. It also clear alot of space internally.
Hello yeah I initially wanted to put the controller outside but it's actually doing well I do not have any kind of heat problems with it so I am going to leave it for now. As far as re gen I'm on the fence when I ride the onyx I am not sure I like it I probably just need to get used to it. I like just letting off the throttle and being able to coast.
@@samjohnson517 i have a seperate throttle for regen. I use a domino throttle for acceletation and a thunb throttle for regen (only). I only use my front brake to come to a complete stop. I personally dont like regen mixed with any of my throttle or braking. On a serperate thumb throttle it kicks @ss!
Magura brakes are well worth it my buddy made one of these with mt8 brakes a lot more braking power. I'm thinking about making one myself could I put standard mtb forks I'm thinking to save money I'm going to use my trek marlin 7 for parts and get smaller wheel up front to match the rear
Hello and thank you for watching it's about 34 inches but it sags down a good two three inches when you sit on it and yes you can lower it even more by moving the bracket to the lower holes it just looks kind of funny like that
I bought a Delfast Top 2.0 Very disappointed so I've gone through the whole thing. Can you send me a link for your charger? I did end up putting the Magura mt5e on the back with a 230mm dual piece rotor. Wow what a difference. The original squealed so bad it was embarrassing to ride. A great upgrade. Maybe I could've just changed the pads like you did. This bike came with a 60 amp Chinese controller. Total crap. I bought an unlocked Sabvoton 72150 from AliExpress. So it's actually a 200 amp. I'm running a QS 205 3t. I run it to hard. Looking into a 12k motor for when this one goes. Nice build Sam. Looks great!
@@samjohnson517 Thanks. You talked about the Magura, look into them. Awesome brakes. I went with the bigger rotor and love it. I have dual discs in the front, but I think I would benefit from a single Magura like I have on the back. I love my bike, but if I knew then what I know now, I would've built my own like you did. Looks great!
@@samjohnson517 I might have missed spoke. I thought they were 230, but looking at my receipt they are 220. See if this link opens for you. It's for ModernBike. www.modernbike.com/s?search=230188
Actually he commented on how heavy it is and that's not a downside, this bike is fast! I've even considered putting weight in that bottom area because it's 70 miles an hour you're not on a bicycle anymore! Trust me you want to stay on the ground
One thing I keep forgetting to mention it's not only the weight but the thing seems to have a really long wheelbase this bike is so stable at high speed it's unbelievable.
Any chance you could send a parts list my way for a total novice? 😅 I'm a wood worker through and through but I'm obsessed with your bike. I love the stealth bomber look with the option to pedal makes it street legal over here
Is it possible to use a mid-drive motor (like a Cyclone) instead of a Hub motor on this EEB frame? I wanna have pedal/torque assist, take advantage of the gears in combination with the motor and the more efficient use of power with a massive 2000+Wh battery.
@@samjohnson517 I'll most likely use Eleek frame or one from Endurobike. I'll have to mount the motor on the very bottom... I'll ask if they can do a aluminum instead of steel cuz steel is too heavy. But they have a 60mm BB.
bro you did a hella job putting that bike up like that.i ordered a 15000w 72v with 200a sabvoton controler total of 3500$ it's has been 2 months now .one more month and it will be at my door step.can't wait. but you are really savvy putting that thing up from scratch
Sounds nice man boy you been waiting a long time just be careful what they advertise I'm finding that that they really short you on the battery because that's where the money is. I've seen people with 15,000 watt e-bikes barely going 40 miles an hour because the battery is trash.
Nice okay panasonics are okay they just don't have a lot of amps and don't go by the gauge on the bike it's wrong use GPS You should ask what the continuous amp and burst amp rating is for the battery it should be at least 150 with 200 burst
Thanks for the build, as a mountain biker that fork kills me, lol. Got a 2012 boxxer with a direct mount stem and carbon bars for $300, used. Also, that non direct mount stem sketches me out. Do you trust it at 60mph+?
That is a good deal for those forks, the non-direct them seems pretty secure even if the clamp bolts came loose it still has the bolt through the star nut. But I definitely like the direct Mount better.
I would love to buy something like this but building an wiring electronics is scary to me. Shorting something and ruining a controller or bms is my biggest fear. I have a 60v scooter off of alibaba but can only take it up to 45mph before I get speed wobbles. Would love to get a commuter ebike but the $1400 that I spent for my scooter goes along way value wise. Banggood has the laotie ti30 scooter which has 21700 cells in a 38.5 ah configuration. Maybe reaper to buy the scooter and use the battery pack from there in another ebike build but with a 60v setup? Food for thought. Hi from Los angeles
Hello! I hear you I hate electrical myself I just keep a fire extinguisher nearby :) I would not worry about the wiring there really is not much to it, there's like five wires you got to screw in to the controller and they are color coded .and if you're just going to buy a battery that is already built it's just a matter of plugging it in.
For the handlebars I chose on Ali, an ultra light but very solid carbon handlebar. Pour le guidon j'ai choisi sur Ali, un guidon en carbone ultra léger mais très solide.
What was the name of the company you mentioned at the 1:35 mark in the video? Are they an Alibaba seller? I couldn't quite understand the name you said.
Yep I also have one, please beware if you order a d i y bike, the batteries are going to send you could possibly end up being totally junk, not knowing this about the battery, when the bike was sold to me as a 72 volt 3000w I bought a 72 volt 5000w after, only to find out that the battery they sent me was a 48 volt 10 amp hour , anybody that knows anything about batteries knows that's like the smallest one they could possibly send it barely turned everything on and it made the bike you about 35 40 miles an hour, tomorrow my 60 volt 20 amp hour batteries coming that's all I could afford it was a month's rent as far as the rest of the bike goes it is cool even with the 48-volt I keep up in traffic with the 60 volt I will lead traffic, and eats Sur-Ron s for breakfast oh, don't get me wrong I still want a Sur-Ron x260, but right now this bike is way nicer I got the burgundy one!
Hi Sam. I Really have enjoyed your videos that have inspired me to really consider an Enduro build. I currently ride a 1000 watt mid drive on a MTN bike. Your link to the seller for the hub motor and wheels kit doesn't work. Was wondering if you could share the name of the seller on Alibaba? I don't think ill ever have the balls to build such a big battery myself though LOL. I'll probably use my 48V 17Ah downtube battery temporarily until I save up for a huge 72V. I wonder how much speed and range I would get from that little thing lol. So hard to find a good reliable source for prebuilt large 72V batteries!

Awesome build. What are the measurements/circumference on the battery that you built to make it fit inside the frame?
Hello, thank you! The battery measurements are 14 in Long 7in tall at 5.5 in wide
@@samjohnson517 okay thank you appreciate it.
Excellent video! What is the lowest seat height? Can the whole seat assembly be lowered if necessary? Regards.
Hello and thank you for watching it's about 34 inches but it sags down a good two three inches when you sit on it and yes you can lower it even more by moving the bracket to the lower holes it just looks kind of funny like that
@@samjohnson517 Thank you!
I bought a Delfast Top 2.0
Very disappointed so I've gone through the whole thing.

I love the stealth bomber look with the option to pedal makes it street legal over here
Hello and thank you for watching! I have links to the parts I used to build the bike in the description
Is it possible to use a mid-drive motor (like a Cyclone) instead of a Hub motor on this EEB frame? I wanna have pedal/torque assist, take advantage of the gears in combination with the motor and the more efficient use of power with a massive 2000+Wh battery.
If I remember right I believe the bottom bracket is too wide. But check the measurement on the frame you're interested in.

Nice okay panasonics are okay they just don't have a lot of amps and don't go by the gauge on the bike it's wrong use GPS
You should ask what the continuous amp and burst amp rating is for the battery it should be at least 150 with 200 burst
@@samjohnson517 oh yeah once I get the bike I will test the speed with the gps app for sure.

Yep I also have one, please beware if you order a d i y bike, the batteries are going to send you could possibly end up being totally junk, not knowing this about the battery, when the bike was sold to me as a 72 volt 3000w I bought a 72 volt 5000w after, only to find out that the battery they sent me was a 48 volt 10 amp hour , anybody that knows anything about batteries knows that's like the smallest one they could possibly send it barely turned everything on and it made the bike you about 35 40 miles an hour, tomorrow my 60 volt 20 amp hour batteries coming that's all I could afford it was a month's rent as far as the rest of the bike goes it is cool even with the 48-volt I keep up in traffic with the 60 volt I will lead traffic, and eats

If you run out of space it's because you put your shoe inside, while I put it easily under the frame, you just have to make a hole above the existing ones on the 4 fixing brackets cache, and the deal is done, watch my videos and you will see that I have not even touched my big Sabvoton which also has its 4 fasteners on the sides ...
