Big ups, Wode Maya! Your Suriname video was an eye-opener - I had no idea there was a country by that name until now. Your content isn't just entertaining; it's an educational treasure trove, especially for showcasing the vibrancy of Africans. You're changing the game, helping us plan must-visit destinations with a fresh perspective.
It's high time we took control of our narrative. Your work is peeling back layers of misconceptions and showing that what was once dismissed as 'primitive' is, in truth, the cradle of rich civilization. You're helping to correct the falsehoods we've been taught in schools about our own heritage.
Thank you for being an outstanding ambassador for Africa, Wode Maya. Your efforts are truly making a difference. Keep soaring and telling our stories with pride and authenticity! 👏🏾🌍🎥

Wode Maya as a descendant of African in the diaspora and one who was blessed to be able to visit the Motherland as did many others now, I did some 15 yrs ago. Watching this gives me the chills I am here bawling my eyes out it is so emotional to experience this. You are truly God sent there was truly a purpose why you were unable to get your original flight straight from Brazil to Jamaica. The Spirit of the Ancestors were determined that you serve your purpose …just imagine, we can’t deny or ignore them any longer 400 yrs is enough it’s been too long . You truly have a mission and you are fulfilling it. It is well with their souls. You are blessed and born with the purpose of bridging the gap could not be a better medium or pulpit to do it from.

I have read about the Maroons from Surinam and Jamaica and also Afro Colombians on how they escaped from their colonial masters and went into the deep forest to establish their own settlements & language far away from where they would not be captured.
These remote areas of Surinam reveal what terrible conditions Blacks taken into slavery had to endure just to remain free from captivity. These Blacks in Surinam surely kept all their original West African tradition for so long.
Great discoveries Wode Maya in finding our lost African descendants. 🇺🇸👍🏿

Hey Wode Maya! I'm so impressed with this amazing documentary about your tour of the diaspora in the West. I'm African Jamaica in NJ always watching your videos. Also, I have been so curious about Suriname for many years now, having seeing excerpts from piece meals documentaries. However, yours and within this time, is so in depth despite being short in duration. It really brings me closer to my people. You see anywhere Africans are, from Africa to the diaspora, all are my peoples. I can hardly imagine colourful history of survival conquering the depths of the inner lands while fighting against the wretched oppressions of slavery. For sure without any doubt, the retention of the African heritage is overwhelming in Suriname at the top of my list. I said it and think so without any doubt. Haiti, my closest neighbour from another island may just be the next; while my home island Jamaica and other ranges in various degrees. Yes, the maroon and Rastafari communities with a few others in Jamaica have been significant in that course but for sure where the retention is highly favoured in my opinion is Suriname and of course the geography is dynamic in the reason for that.
That young professional lady who arranged your meeting is truly a blessing, warm and graceful at heart. Also, what touched me, even more in extent, is the warm open welcoming of the Vice President. His exemplary style of leadership was even more mind blowing when he ate from the same plate of the village lady his people. So down to earth, of what true African leadership is powerfully about; being one with the people. Continue your good work Maya and be blessed. I look forward to see your in Jamaica; the land of my birth. One Love ❤.

I remember watching an episode by Andrew Zimmer in the jungle of Suriname 🇸🇷. He met an elder of one of the villages and he told him his ancestors are from Ghana. Years later a Ghanaian journalist made that trip and it was such an emotional moment for him. They were able to communicate in Twi or one of the Akan languages. We need this bridge to be built and a lot of these nations including the islands in the Caribbean should be part of the African Union by heritage. The Vice President is a real man of the people, the humility is amazing he puts our African leaders to shame.
