Omg first , I love the sounds of the family in the background! ❤❤ this is a must do once i get the shawl craze out of me. My teenage son and I learn so much from you Crystal. We will have fun with this and all the options of color design. Thank you😊
I'm in the California valley where Woolease yarn is not needed. I wanted to make a light weight jacket with a hood, so your instruction is perfect for what I needed. I also wanted my jacket made with cream colored cotton yarn, so I used Comfy Cotton Blend by Lion Brand. Now everyone wants one, but this granny is too old to make these, so your video is real handy to send it to them. Thanks girl...👍
I completed your tutorial and my jacket turned out very nice. I self taught myself to crochet following videos like yours thanks so much for the easy step by step instructions.
Thank you so much for this! My mother in law has two bags full of granny squares that she wants made into a jacket and I was lost at the best way to put them together. Now I can call her and tell her to get them out that we are going to make that jacket she wants.
Hi, I just wanted to comment on your tutorials, they are great and the things you crochet are wonderful. You are one of the few people that really take your time and show how to do a project and I'm able to keep up and follow every detail. Thank you.
U never cease to amaze me!!!!! I agree u hv out done Yrself.I love it and can't wait to make it.Hw many squares would U need for smaller sizes or even for a five yr. Old???I pray u r feeling well.Congrats on yr Bundle of Joy thts coming!!!!!!
I just love these casual COLORFUL practical fun looking pieces. I think they are a classic. I remember to this day, the first time I ever saw a granny square poncho. Did'nt even know what it was. I interrupted two girls older than me, talking while waiting to go into the school. They were pretty annoyed, but I asked how they got their's. One said Mom, the other said Grandma made them. I told my mom and asked if she could have my grandma make me one, and she said no, I didn't need it. I was 8, now I'm 60. Still want one. I could settle for a granny square cardigan.
Re watching , I love this jacket, I need to add a bit onto mine since I have gained some weight over the winter and with spring here now I want to be able to wear it now.
Thank you this is very nice. To avoid the dreaded diagonal seam line, after the arm holes, I do mine in a spiral and taper the harsh step off by doing a couple rows of single crochets. There is still a very tiny step after this but if you time it right, you can end on one of the sides and you barely notice it. Love your videos and I prefer this one with the square yoke as opposed to the rectangle. The neckline is much better for me your way ❤.
Thank you for sharing. I have always wanted to do one of there. I really enjoy your tutorials. I like the way you explain what you are doing. Thank you again.
had no idea it could be this easy to make an awesome jacket! just ordered some yarn..can't wait to get started. Thanks so much for the tutorial :) your jacket looks great!
Excellent video. I like how you always teach in a suggestive way and always add you can do it this way or the way you prefer. You encourage success by that, drawing on our skills vs talking down to us. Thanks for that! Started one for a friends daughter who has been on a steady hospital admittance monthly. I'm going to make it open on the sides and under the arms. Then add ties. This way it can be put on over her head and tied. SO she can have it put on or off regardless of how many IVs she has. I've been in several times and I get cold. With IVs you can't get warm. SO hoping this will be a welcome warmth as she faces great challenges. I'll use your tutorial to put it together and make it to her waist and to the elbows to accommodate being in bed w IV's.
I love the end result! looks amazing! I'm going to have to make myself one! I have a small suggestion...when you single crochet around the edge of the jacket you could do your button loop chains at the same time..they will be nice and secure and you'll have less tails to tuck in at the end! :)
Crystal thank you so much for this granny jacket. I started grannys for a sweater for my sister. Using 4 wt and a I hook. Think Im going to continue with the solid granny with 4 rounds is 5 inches across that gives me 20 inches across shoulders. My sis is only 5ft and a size med to lg. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Nice, now this will be a late Christmas present to myself and one for my sister. I am going to make it with a #4 weight yarn. This will be included with the shawls that I am making also. Now I will have a granny square hooded sweater and a granny square sweat that I have made just need to finish the sleeves.
Could I crochet with the 4 play yarn and use 2 colors so that the granny square coat is reversible by sewing two squares together before you join the other squares would that be the same thickness as you are doing or could I use Bernat blanket yarn
Thanks to you again.. Just found this one. At last something to do with the 10 skeins of lion brand homespun that I cannot seem to do anything with.. Have had that stuff (will never buy it again) for two years and this is the first thing it has worked well for. I have heard that knitters like this yarn, but to crochet with it, uggh!
I really like your coat. I'm going to make one but I want to use size 3 yarn. What do you think of me using size 3 yarn? Also using colour pink for breast cancer.
Christy Baker I was wondering the same, but (guessing as akind of newbie to changing up the pattern) I'm thinking we'd have to use more GS since hers are going to be bigger just because of yarn size alone?
This is so beautiful would love to make it as a Xmas present. Just have a few questions for sizing purposes how tall are you and how far down does this come on you ? The person I want to make it for is very petite 5'3ish but I want it to come down to the knee area. And she would be a small. How would you suggest I change the measurements? Sorry I suck at math.

How many granny squares did it take to make this?
Was this a size large you made?
How can I make small size please guide me
Fantastic
Wow, this great! How much do I need for 1x or bigger size? I would like to make my mom one but she is bigger than a L size.
Wow, That Looks Great! ~Glama
Made With Love By Glama UA-cam hand. Gloues
if you are using regular 4ply yarn do you make the same amount of GS as you did here for a L ?
Thanks Bunches !
Christy Baker I was wondering the same, but (guessing as akind of newbie to changing up the pattern) I'm thinking we'd have to use more GS since hers are going to be bigger just because of yarn size alone?
You said to use 1500 yards ... how many balls of wool did u buy so I can work out how many for a 100 gram ball
If I use Red Heart Yarn do I need to make more squares or make them bigger.
To make them thick like hers double up on the red heart yarn. In other words use two strands together. Hope that helps
So neat ❤️

What is the size of each square, please? I Really want to make this. Do you respond to comments on videos this old? I'm here on 2/10/22.
Okay I has a question can you super bulky yarn
This is not the jacket on the picture?
What are the dimensions of your squares? You said we could use a lighter weight yarn, but not how big to make them.
5"
@@BAGODAYCROCHET thank you
linda amei
What is the measurement on your granny square?
5"
Ok thank you 😃
Did you really wear the coat? I have read you don't wear your own products.
:D
