Finally a rounded hood 😊. Seems all I have been finding are the ones that end up pointed on top. Not the look I want. Your instructions are clear and very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing with us. Is there a way this can be done for the coat of an 18 inch American Girl doll?
Thank you. I'm really happy you like it 😊. Yes, you could definitely do this for a doll's coat. You would have to measure from the bottom of the neck to the middle of the back of the head, then chain that length and do the process for making the hood. You won't need as many increases because it's going to be smaller. But it should be easy to judge when to stop increasing if you hold it up against the doll as you go. What a fantastic idea. Good luck!
You are so young to be so talented! I'm 62, a grandmother of 11 and I am learning so much from you! My granddaughters are going to be well dressed! How long have you been crocheting?
Lol! I'm not that young, but thank you! 😀 I've been crocheting off and on since I can remember. I've always loved it, but I've really been focusing on it for the past couple of years. It feels really good to share ideas and talk about crochet with like-minded people. I love the crochet community. I'm really happy you like the designs ❤
I was looking for a tutorial exactly like this! Thank you! You explained it really well!! Thank you! I am crocheting a cloak and I love the way this hood looks
Hi there!! Thanks a million at last a rounded hood without this is genius 👏 🙌 👌 been searching everywhere...Blessings to you and lots of success for your future crocheting
I love it!! I made an oversized "Coatigan" but was looking for two days on a hood to put on it. Ill probably make it a removable one. thanks so much. :)
I love this pattern!!!!! Thank you so so much.. LOVE THE ROUNDNESS OF THE HOOD. Q: how would I adjust the stitch count of the ring of chain if I'm using a 4mm hook with a thinner yarn?
This is a very cool construction, and I LOVE that it's not pointed at the back. I would like to size it, though, because I'm adding to an already-made pocket scarf, and I need the hood to be shorter in the back (so I can graft it onto my scarf). Does your pattern have approximate sizes?
Do you have a pattern for just the hood? I can't seem to find one! I'm looking to make a hood for a dc vest I made but think I need to play with the stitch count.
I used a 5.5m hook and increased two more rounds so how many around do I need to make the hood you said you needed 60 for the last count … do I need 70 or 80 stitches around?
That is no way a very basic hood! (Basic is two squares joined on two sides). I've never seen a hood constructed in that way before, really looking forward to trying it. Would love to have seen hood lying down on table to see shape. Great video, thanks.
Hi , thanks for sharing your pattern with us. I was wondering what weight of yarn you were using here. I'm from the US. It looks to be a bit thicker than worsted weight med. # 4. Maybe a bulky 5 ? Was just wondering if using one strand #4 would be big enough.or if two held together would be ok or two bulky/ large. Thanks again.
Hi Darcy. For this tutorial the yarn is actually very bulky. It's not the usual weight I would normally use to add a hood to a garment, but the whole principle is the same. Using a medium worsted and a 5mm hook is perfect for a really good sized hood. That's what I used for the simple hooded sweater tutorial. I hope this helps.
So, when we are adding the double crochets at the beginning. You said to put in 8, but when you references the increases you only increase on 6. Did you mean 8 or 6? I worked up the hood with increases for the 8 and it turned out perfectly. Not sure how it would have looked if I had increased only on the first 6 stitches. Lovely, hood by the way, I've been looking for a non pointed one. :)
It's great that the increases of 8 instead of 6 worked out. But the 2 stitches on either side of the 8 at beginning really only represent side stitches while the top 6 are used to continue the increases for the rest of the widening. It's always turned out great that way too. But I always encourage trying out your own ways of doing things so it's great to know what you've done works too.
thanks for the tutorial!! i’m a beginner and trying to make my first wearables. could i start with the “magic circle” instead? i find that when i have to keep going into the middle of a circle created how you started here, i get a hole in the middle of the finished product.
You could definately use a magic circle, but make sure you weave in the loose end on the inside when you've finished the hood, and tie it off. I find that sometimes the magic circle can come loose. But it should definately be fine if you do that.
I have a question. First I love this pattern. Been using it a lot. But every time I get to row 3 and I get to the end and you say it should be 35 I always end up with 36. Because of the chain 2. And I use stitch and double count my stitches. And in the video. You say I think 35. So I'm just a bit confused. If it's 35 or 36.
Ah okay, I understand. It is because you're counting the chain of 2 that you get 36. But you're doing it right. Another good way of keeping track is if you keep all of the stitches of the increases seperate in your mind, or you can use a stitch marker, and then you'll always have 34 up and down, I hope that makes sense. I find that if I do that now it's a lot easier.
👍As Always❤❤ New subscriber...you will see my (as always) comment. Just to let you know I liked!! I will also thumbs up for you!! Thanks for great hood!!
It depends what yarn you're using, but it should do, yes. The yarn that I used in this tutorial was very thick so the hood was quite large. A worsted weight yarn should do fine for a kids xl.
Thank you so much for sharing your GORIOUS hood design and all that you always do ❤🥰😘🇵🇷🇺🇸🙋🏽♀️👍🏽 you are a Master crochet.

You could also size down on your hood and yarn to really make it more “doll like”

I really like this rounded hood. Thank you for your tutorial! I really appreciate the pattern you’ve made.
Thanks darl! 🙏😊 that's awesome, just the hood i was looking for.
So looking forward for the written pattern ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you 😊💚
Thanks for this video. So happy to have a rounded hood. Very clear instructions. I will be checking out the cardigan for sure.
Thank you, a hood that won't make me look like I'm part of a Gregorian chanting circle. Thank you so much for your efforts; I will try this out.
Thankyou so much you are a great teacher xxx appreciate you xxx

You're welcome. I'm happy you like it 😊💚
Great idea to make it removable. Will you be using buttons?
Love this hood so much. But I wonder how long is that 35 chain row? I’m using different yarn, so would like to know the length to start with🙏🏼
Lovely video, Thank you, Subscribed!💕
I love this pattern!!!!! Thank you so so much.. LOVE THE ROUNDNESS OF THE HOOD.
Q: how would I adjust the stitch count of the ring of chain if I'm using a 4mm hook with a thinner yarn?
Thank you ☺You won't need to adjust the circle, but you may have to do an extra couple of rounds of increase. I hope this helps!
I'm just learning and starting with your leg warmer tutorial. Yours is the most enjoyable to watch so thank you! Easy to follow and understand🌸🦋🌸👍
Thank you. I'm really glad you like it 😊❤
this is an amazing tutorial. Would it work with the half double crochet? I'm making a hoodie and the whole base is mainly the half double
Hi Jenna. Thank you, I'm happy you like it. I think you could do it with hdc, but it would take a bit longer.
I also did my hood with half double crochet for the same reason as you.
Looks great I love it thank you for making the hood, I enjoyed watching you 😊👍
Thank you! I'm really happy to hear it 😊
Very beautiful young lady, thank you for this tutorial.❤❤❤❤

Hi, I’ve made the hood now I’m confused as to what pattern I use it with? Could you please advise via link to pattern? Thanks Deb
Do you happen to have a written version?
Thank you for the video. I was looking for a round hood as well. The last 10 rolls do I increase them or just double croche all the way around?
I’m lost here as well
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! :)
You're very welcome .I'm really happy you like it 😊
Thank you sweetheart 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome. Thank you for watching 😊❤
Great tutorial Thankyou for sharing 🧶 looking forward to more videos!
Thank you! I'm really happy you liked it ❤
When you chain 2 at the beginning, are you counting it as your 1st DC or are you working a DC back into the same stitch?
im trying to make spider gwen hood and this is perfect thank you
You're so adorable!!! Thank you for this video! 😁
😊 Thank you ❤
Question love the hood, if I want it to cover more on the front how many more rows would it take to get there? Thanks
Do you have this pattern in written form? And if you do. Where can I buy it.
Do you have a pattern for just the hood? I can't seem to find one! I'm looking to make a hood for a dc vest I made but think I need to play with the stitch count.
I am looking for a very easy pattern
for attaching it to my sweater ‼️💯
I used a 5.5m hook and increased two more rounds so how many around do I need to make the hood you said you needed 60 for the last count … do I need 70 or 80 stitches around?
Hi how do you come up with the count going down the sides. 34,36…
I'm making a hoodie for my cat. The length you had started with... is it approximately from the crown of the head to the shoulders?
That is no way a very basic hood! (Basic is two squares joined on two sides). I've never seen a hood constructed in that way before, really looking forward to trying it. Would love to have seen hood lying down on table to see shape. Great video, thanks.

The Green Marble yay awesome!! i’m about to start on a hood now, using caron funnel cakes yarn :-)
@@cy290 Lovely! 💚
The Green Marble it turned out wonderfully 💚💚💚
@@cy290 That's great to hear! 💚
hello...i'm from indonesia.
thank you for your's tutorial but can I see the writte pattern
How much yarn did you use ?
Clever! Good idea!
Thank you ❤
Is this size good for anything in any size ? Is it just one pattern ... one size fits all type of thing ?
It's good for any size. You can add as many rows as you need to make it as deep as you want.

@@TheGreenMarbleDesigns ah okay. Thank you for the help. :)
Do the turning chain 2’s count as a dc ?? At beginning you said it does but after that you are not counting it.
Only the beginning chain 2 counts as a stitch. The rest are only for turning.

Will this hood fit a kids sz XL cardigan
It depends what yarn you're using, but it should do, yes. The yarn that I used in this tutorial was very thick so the hood was quite large.
A worsted weight yarn should do fine for a kids xl.
@@TheGreenMarbleDesigns thank you I am going to be using worsted weight 4
Can you do a writtenTutorial
Of course! 💚 I'm aiming to get the written tutorial up on Patreon this week.
Do you have a written pattern for this hood??
I'm in the process of adding all my designs to Patreon so I'm hoping to get it up very soon.
If you could have the background clear that would be helpful. It is a bit distracting. Great work though. Thanks.
Very cute but at times hard to hear you
Not trying to be rude but I can't tell if you are 17 or 35
Lol! Not rude at all. It's always6nice to have a bit of mystery 😜
@@TheGreenMarbleDesigns I can certainly agree with that
