Thank you for actual, practical suggestions! You're one of the first people I've seen to give concrete ideas and tips. When my best friend went through her divorce, her kids were older but we wound up running errands together. We both got practical stuff done and she was able to talk to an adult and decompress.

Its also good to take a child CPR class if you are nervous about babies. Knowing what to do if there is an emergency is really helpful.

I was the third oldest cousin in my family and spent the majority of my childhood/teen years caring for children. I didn’t realise childcare wasn’t something everyone knew how to do until my mid 20s.

My sister had her first when I was 14 and her second when I was 24, and many of my friends had kids before me....
I clearly thought I knew a lot more 😂 when I had my son, I realized that there was a lot I didn't know about babies and how to care for them.
He's 18 months now, so I'm probably not doing too bad 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

This is the most useful I have encountered online so far! Whenever I look for info, I always see "gift your friends time", but this is the first time I feel seen as a person who has not changed many nappies before! 😄

My friend is about to have a baby and I’m looking for ways to support her but I have no confidence looking after babies! She also has a toddler and a partner so slightly different than a new solo parent, but I want to do what I can

Bryony ive been thinking for a while to have a baby on my own as a single mother but I am so worried about the stigma and the feeling of selfishness. I am a lesbian and haven’t been having much luck in finding someone so I’ve given up and even if I was to find someone I’d still have to inevitably get a sperm donor and go through IVF etc. and honestly my only goal and passion in life (and has been since I was a teen) is to be a mother and have kids… I’m now in my mid 20s and I am so eager to do this but completely on edge and still 50/50 about it. How did you deal with the stigma of it all? Did people have a lot of questions? Do you ever feel selfish? How did you go about it.?

When my niece and nephew were little, I became sorta famous in my SIL's house for always folding and putting away all the laundry from the drying rack. It started because I had once accidentally knocked it over and felt bad just lumping the dry laundry back on. My SIL just said: "Well I am NOT gonna stop you!"
Luckily she was not too particular about how the clothes were folded. 😅

You are amazing! You always give the most amazing advice, thank you!! I’m not a solo mom, but I had an awful postpartum depression and I felt so so lonely! I know my partner did everything he could to help me, and my family was also there for me, but at times I felt the need of seeing a friend to just have a girls time ❤
