I did the 100km ride which shared the route until Bromyard. Some of the slow had cleared in the 90 minutes later start but it was still cold and the worst thing was having soaking feet due to riding through deep puddles. It was cold for an hour or so after Bromyard after which it got a bit more bearable. Had some food in the Hop Pole afterwards and saw the 200km finishers arriving. I think around 35 managed to complete it.

You made the right decision Richard. 4 degrees isn’t that warm, and when you get wet it very quickly takes your heat away. Don’t be too disappointed…spring is on its way.👍

You made the right decision. It was carnage at the cafe in Bromyard. Some seriously cold riders and blankets were required. The section from where you stopped to Bromyard was tough. The water was running in the tyre tracks between the snow meaning soaking cold feet. It did improve but not until after Hopwell. Whilst the last leg was flat it was getting colder and colder. Glad to finish!

Absolutely the right call. You certainly have to pick your battles this time of the year and it can always be ridden again can't it, rather than risking the holiday? I rode Ed Blackthorns son 150 last year which was one of the best rides of the year for me. Love coming to do Marks audaxes in Tewkesbury👍
