A priceless piece of film. Chuck Berry has rightly achieved immortality as the man who put it all together and who inspired whole generations of musicians. Hail! Hail! reminded the world of just how important Johnnie Johnson was in those early days. It was late in life for him, but he finally got the credit and enjoyed his moment in the spotlight.
Love it. He's conveying the true essence of these songs by just singing them and strumming the guitar without any backing. Wish he had done a whole album of these standards solo as he does here. I'd buy it and I'm sure you would. Love these standards.

When I first saw the film I shot out of my seat when Johnnie came in. Superb doesn't do it justice. Johnnie was the real star of the film and it relaunched his career and quite rightly too
these were the songs that inspired the magic of a younger chuck berry.....a well rounded musician has big ears....thats my belief and heres some proof. but who wouldnt be inspired by johnnie johnson....i just sit mesmorized by him

Look up "Blue Feeling" on You Tube. Chuck Berry was a good blues instrumentalist. Johnnie Johnson plays the piano on that song also.
