- Kelly Clarkson brought Garth Brooks to tears at the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors on June 6. He couldn’t help but get emotional as he watched Kelly Clarkson sing one of his biggest hits. Tears welled up in his eyes as Kelly performed a stripped-down version of “The Dance”. At the end of the performance, Brooks stood up, took off his hat, and let out a big cheer.

I think he was crying because her cracking voice made the song unrecognizable….. sad
@@Semprasectum If you think his tears were because it sounded bad then you are a sad person! He jumped up and screamed, “Damn” and stated later that the song is hers now because she nailed that song to the wall! So you can sit and try to make it as if he didn’t like it all you want! This man loves Kelly’s voice so much that he invited her to sing on his new album! Gosh some people just have to be so negative!

There’s very few people, male or female, that can sing like Kelly. Not just because her voice sounds so good, because a lot of people have good voices. It’s the way she interprets a song that isn’t hers. It’s the emotion she shows. The raw feelings. She has held a special place in my heart for almost 20 years 💜
To see Garth crying because Kelly sung it amazingly is priceless
She needs to record this. I can see this being a number 1 hit again for her.

After Garth heard her do this song, he'll probably never sing it again. She took one of the most beautiful and iconic songs of all time and completely made it her own. Goose bumps do not even begin to express what I felt hearing her sing this song. Garth wasn't the only one in tears. Phenomenal job by one of the greatest voices of our generation. My hat is off, Miss Kelly.

After watching the interview she had with him on her show, and learning how much she absolutely loves this song and is how huge of a fan she is of him, this is now easily one of the most amazing things I've ever seen

Grew up on this song obviously loving it and knowing the words. Was not until my mid 20s, that I understood the lyrics completely. Went through my own battle a year ago up and down all over the place toxic relafionship with an ex and losing him was the best thing that ever happened to me bc now a year later I found the one and he is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
