Harvey puts the meat with the potatoes. I love the way his drums sound. So thick and fat. These are the true heavyweights of contemporary jazz or jazz funk or whatever you want to call it. This is what I grew up on. What a blessing. May God continue to bless Harvey, Anthony, Lee, Ernie & Bob.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: There was a time when Lee Ritenour was regarded as the best guitarist in the world. That solo shows us why! It's not just all the technique, it's the tone, the taste, the feel.......Listen and learn!!
Anthony Jackson: Plays EVERYTHING right, never flash, and ALWAYS on point.
That drummer is the coolest mother EVER!!!!!
What a tune!
Harvey Mason. He’s the best drummer, I once shaked his hand at a fourplay concert here in Milan, Italy. Best musician I’ve seen playing live
What an amazing treat to see the immortal Ernie Watts on sax! I had the good fortune several years ago to meet Bob James, Larry Carlton, Nathan East and Harvey Mason prior to a Fourplay concert. They are all amazing musicians and fine human beings. Harvey was a real cut-up!
I remember hearing this on the radio in the summer of '76. I was 15 at the time. This tune pretty much started my 30+ year love affair with all things jazz.
Lee is a beast on the Guitar. You wanna watch his double DVD Overtime.
One of Bob's most recognizable compositions. One of the best for myself.70's jazz fusion might have started right here.
your watching legendary shit right here...historic classic live in the future that has past
What can I say? It doesn't get much better than Lee Ritenour & Bob James together. I actually became a Bob James fan while working at Downtown Records in Chicago around 1976. Later, Touchdown was released, and ... WOW! "I Want to Thank You Very Much" is my favorite track from Touchdown.
2014 and still love it as much.
this is real music
Saw Lee a few weeks back in Manchester, he was smokin, absolutely brilliant!
This is the great Anthony Jackson, bassist extraordinaire
This performance is from 1990 !!
Soo good!!

Przecudowna muzyka. Wszyscy muzycy to rasowi wymiatacze. Bajka.

that little 5 note bit in the piano intro is so cool, simplicity is genius.

Very cool. I met Lee Ritenour many years ago when he was in Seattle playing. Would be cool to have seen this live.
Genius !
I came here for Bob James, but they were ALL fantastic, weren't they!?
Smooth...cool...jazz!!!
Great memories never die.
Creo que esta una de las mejores interpretaciones de esta melodia por bob james y cu cuarteto. me encanta.....
Cool song! One of my favorites!
These guys are just marvellous, fantastic..
One of my all time favorite songs by one of my all time favorite musicians. My nephew and I refer to each other as Bob and James!
Great rendition of Westchester Lady. Looks like it's more 1990 than 1980, though.
It is 1990
@@kevinmanns7170 yeah this is basically the OG Fourplay lineup with Anthony Jackson subbed in
Great musicians a great song!

This song alway bring me back to growing up in Fairfield county.I kind of miss that area in the fall but I now love Atlanta.Thamks for the memories
One of my top five favs of Bob James...I remember this was used as the theme song to a local program here in Cleveland called Public Square...with Dave Buckel as the host.
i saw that name and radio station.. i used to live in new york,, and that just bought back some great memories

Music at it's sleazy best.
Fourplay are live in London at Islington Assembly Hall on July the 13th! Can't wait to hear this tune live!
I love me some Ernie Watts!!!
The best version, imo, is the one played at the 1994 ? Montreaux Jazz festival with Whalum, Boney James, Rick Braun, and the Fourplay ensemble.
Rien n'est impossible. Pis tant !

This title really should have Bob James first, then Lee Ritenour.

Heh They're rocking it. It's looks like they're all into it.
A thoroughly fine number but I must be going....Angela is calling, TAXI!
fusion っていいね。!
No solo from Ernie? CRIMINAL!!
HARVEY MASON ONE OF THE WORLDS GREATEST DRUMMERS :):):) RIGHT ON LISTENtotheMANofGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE ERNIE WATTS & HARVEY MASON & OF COURSE LEE RITENOUR !!! AND OTHERS....but THE GUITAR SOLO !!! AND the DRUMS !!! Man...so GOOD! But the arrangement wise I love the other version by 4 play with Nathan East ! I believe this one from '90 as well as no wedding ring on Mr.Ritenour's ring finger! He was married back then in '80's still .LOL I was such a huge fan of his...so...must be in 90's unless he forgot it which I doubt it very much .
Ernie Watts on Sax damn!! My man!!!!
"This is Les Davis, on WRVR, where Jazz has never sounded better."
Americans won’t understand the impact this song had in the UK. If you know, you know.
Mr. Harvey Mason is tight - as usual.
bob james piano, lee ritenour guitar, harvey mason drums...
Harvey Mason has such a tight groove...
I guess that they turned this gem into Fourplay
one mint julep. ftw
If this is from "Lee Ritenour and Friends - Live from the Cocoanut Grove", then it is 1980. That's the release date of Live from Cocoanut Grove.
Just saw Fourplay last night at Bluenote Tokyo, Westchester Lady was one of the encore performances. Bob James, Harvey Mason, Chuck Loeb & Nathan East...doesn't get much better than that!
TheSilencer39 I think it's from '90's, though...you know why I know that....the ring on Ritenour's ring finger is missing ! He was still married in '80's lol.....I was a huge fan of his back then...lol.
This is "Lee Ritenour and friends - live from the coconut Grove" Recorded in 1990. I know this because I own the DVD. Please check your facts before making ill informed comments.
I like this version, but when you listen to the original with eric Gale on the strings, he was a magnificently talentled artist, and I have missed him since his passing.
Lee is still the top dog out there, and what can I say about evryone else on this set?
kinda surprised someone noticed. was used in adam f "circles".
One of the seminal 70s classic on the CTI label, the label founded by producer Creed Taylor the label responsible for some top top quality Jazz albums from aritsts like George Benson, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard & Mr Tappan Zee Bob James. Bob does what he does best playng fender rhodes using spacious approach to the keys, one of the best tracks he laid on wax
