Update: After further testing on skin, it's a creamy, delicious, warm, cozy, balmy vanilla scent with a touch of powder. I can understand why some compare it to Gypsy Water, but on me, I'd say that at best, it can be a very distant cousin to it. They're both very creamy and smooth, but GW has a gorgeous incense note that sets it apart from CG. CG has a faint smokiness to it in the background but it doesn't resemble the smokiness I get from GW. Both are wonderful scents but if I had to choose one, it would be Gypsy Water for the win :)
Which do you prefer?
I totally agree! Great video 🙂
I completely agree with your assessment, I am obsessed with both scents! So glad you tried gold out! I feel like Gold is best in during mild/cooler weather and G Water is a glorious summer/anytime scent.
I appreciate you making this video!
The Commodity scents are great layered. Gold and Milk are a great sweet gourmand combo.
Now I want to try Gypsy Water because I am obsessed with Commodity Gold. Loved your video!! ❤
🤗
Hi sis...Nice content .. Cant wait to receive my order on Commodity. I purchased the EXPLORATION KIT...
Love from Malaysia ❤
Hope you like it!
Colette by Tocca is a great, more affordable alternative to Gypsy Water. Very similar ❤
Thanks for sharing!!
You should try Colette from Tocca. I heard that is similar to G water. To my nose, Colette it’s a creamy citrus scent with a burnt or smoky feeling in it and the best well blended perfume I own. I can’t pinpoint any particular note.
Thanks for sharing!!
Hah, I’m surprised these two were compared (by whomever suggested they were similar), and I’m glad you gave your own perspective. Maybe they share a note or two, or an easy going vibe, but I would’ve never have thought of them as comparable (I’ve owned both for years).
I think we’re in agreement. GW is brighter and more of a citrus incense musk, very easy to wear any time, any season. I love it and envision it as a silver color. CG is more of a medium depth vanilla with some musk to ground it, and is definitely gold as an associated color. I haven’t tried the Expressive formulation, just the original version from when the brand was owned by the original founders, so maybe there’s a difference, but sounds like it’s basically the same. Thanks, Arlene!
You're most welcome! It's always a pleasure to read your comments 🤗
Gold smells like This is Her to me...and Paper Expressive smells exactly like Gipsy Water to me.
I hope you had the opportunity to get some over there.
I haven’t smelled either one but I heard the Gold version is close? No idea - I wish I could sample them like at Sephora or something. I just never see these high end ones, but I really don’t go out shopping much, unless it’s TJ Maxx or Costco. 😂
I have both perfumes and love both. I cans see how they're sort of cousins. I certainly don't think it's redundant to have both. With Gypsy Water I get more of a freshness (like a pine freshness) to it than I do with Gold. Also, I have the original and newer formulation of Gold, and I do prefer the original. The new version is slightly different, and I get less of the creamy vanilla amber as I did before.
I thought that there was a “new” formulation too, but the longer I own my new bottle of Gold, the more it smells like the original. It’s really settling into its mid/base notes now and I love it!
@@JackieMeadowhow do you store your perfumes? I’ve heard some are better if the cap is left off, to flash off the harshness, but then I read it can make it more diluted, which is the opposite - but these are for cheaper ones too.
I don't really smell Gypsy Water either. Too me, it smells like a stronger Dedcool Taunt... which I personally love. The CG is a little more masculine on me though... I think I like the GW and the Taunt better.
❤️
I get so confused on all the Commodities.
Same here. I just finished my travel size of commodity expressive, didn't smell like anything to me😂🤷🏾♀️
why did Byredo have to use a literal slur for the name of this fragrance? it's always bothered me.
all their fragrances go extremely powdery on my skin so I'm glad I'm not attached to any of them but it's always rubbed me the wrong way how nobody seems to bring it up. Romani people will tell you it's a slur, all the excuses about it being synonymous with "bohemian" just prove that point.
I am not a fan of the name. It's unnecessary.
