    Where is it made?
    Halfbreed Blades Australia is a production knife and tool company, comprising a fusion of Australia and Taiwan make. Our fixed blade and folding blade knives and hand tools are designed, developed, hand-finished, quality control checked and packed in Australia. CNC waterjet cutting, machining and grinding, together with our proprietary heat treatment and coating are completed at our production facilities in Taiwan. Machining and hand-finishing in Australia includes but is not limited to sharpening, polishing, fitting and assembly. Materials used in the manufacture of our products are sourced from Austria, Japan and the United States, this includes the steels utilized in the construction of our tools, G10 and Micarta® applied to handles and Kydex® molded in the fabrication of our sheaths. Halfbreed Blades is proudly 100% Australian owned and operated.

    I would never get a fixed blade this big, but if this came in a version that’s half this size, and less than $100, I’d consider it!

Thanks for straightening me out on the matter and I actually would like to see some of Northern Arizona and southern Utah in the near future as it has been a long time.

    I find any coating will rub off in some manner,they all suck,if it's a steel that'll rust it buys you some resistance but use it in any manner and it'll eventually wear out.

      real dlc is pretty damn tough for a coating and I've only been able to remove it by blasting.

    Hey Lee, Nothing wrong with some D2 done right, especially Twosun's. We have become steel snobs. I can only speak for myself and those I know personally, we will never utilize the full abilities of any super steels doing the tasks we do with knives, 440 stainless would probably handle most of it. When M390 was considered a steel only on the real nice blades, oh yes, I was panting for one, now I have a ton, but now I consider S35VN to be my fav all around steel, I really like D2 also, especially after I started doing my own sharpening. That's a nice looking bush blade. I only have bottom end knives when it comes to fixed, I keep saying I'll get a nice one, but I haven't taken the time to do the research yet, too many folders on my list, and the list is growing, fast.

    • @maulstik
      @maulstik 4 роки тому +1

      1. I guarantee you this D2 isn't 'done right'. I don't even know what that means for this type of knife, run it at a HRC of 56? Run of the mill D2 done right on fixed blades is usually prybar-thick stock w/ obtuse grind angles which is what this looks like. It also isn't an ideal steel for this heavy chopper vs a Twosun folder.
      2. D2 is not terrible, but is also super cheap. Twosun's 14c28n is better than its D2, and 14c is a budget steel. D2 doesn't even cut that long, let alone it's chippiness. D2 has the same toughness as 440c and 10v, lol. There's cut tests by outpost76 and supersteve proving all this.

    • @handsclasped
      @handsclasped 4 роки тому +4

      @@maulstik Hey Maul, I'm not trying to disagree here, or maybe my knife uses aren't as heavy as yours. D2 is an in-expensive steel, we all know that, and that keeps a lot of prices lower, but I have knives I've owned for over 40 years, (I'm 66) and they all still work just fine, not matter what steel. I've never had a knife I needed to just throw in the trash, because somebody could use it, I'd sell it or give it away. My point is a lot of these expensive steels have just become cool to own, and not really necessary for the user, just knives for people with more money to spend, and that's great, people have the right to spend where they do, some people have half million dollar cars, but my $30 thou car does the job also.

    Well I broke down and ordered one of these. I really didn't need another knife with this profile. I actually have that very well covered. For instance I own a Scar Blades Papa Bear. I also have a few knives made by Treeman or better known as Behring made along with a Swamp Rat Rodent 6 and a few Busse knives. I also own several Randall made ( Bo Randall before he passes away) . Martin of Texas who both Newt and his father made and sent to Australia years ago. Really good guys.
    Anyway I went off subject a bit. I really like the design of the LBK-01 so much I ordered it. I almost went after a folder LBF which I believe may be discontinued? But I also think the LBF is a bit over kill and sorry to say IMHO overpriced. I know the materials are there with good blade steel as well as titanium scales and all. But I already have a Extrema Ratio RAO II which is one of the strongest knives on the market especially when that cross pin is put into place. Extrema Ratio has one flaw they are fugly.. Seriously fugly knives!
    And when you said someone mentioned they would not pay the much for D2 and you showed a bunch of Medford knives. They probably would pay that much for a Medford either.
    As for the teflon coating. Here is what I know. Powder coat is the worst. Then teflon ( which performs better going through wood like batoning ) and then many of your gun coats.
    Cerakote however if it is done right is probably the best coat you can get. I have veryi limited knowledge when it comes to titanium coated. So I have no idea where it would be jn this mess?
    Thank you once again kind sir for the upload .

    300 dollars for a D2 bladed knife is NOT something I'd waste my money on. I don't care what kind of goodies they put in the box. That knife is a waste of purely because of the shit steel it's made of.
