In addition to the ME, ME Super and Super Program there is the MX (all mechanical), the MG, the MV and MV1. Might be one or two other similar but not widely popular variants out there too
@@mechanicalslrlounge5138 Yes, the MX is great. Same size but fully mechanical shutter at all speeds and needs no battery other than the meter. Mg, MV and MV1 are all variations on the ME concept and as I recall a bit more entry level, maybe missing a few features and the MG not as substantial feeling.
@@mechanicalslrlounge5138 They can be prone to the mirror sticking up, maybe more so than the electronic shutter versions. I had mine fully serviced by Eric Hendrickson the Pentax guru.
Actually, the 1/100 fixed exposure mode is for use with a flash. In auto mode the cam could otherwise choose an exposure time that is too fast for the flash. Basically every exposure time faster than 1/100 is too fast. I have owned several pentaxes, including the mx, k1000, the me and later the a- and p-series, but the me was my favourite. The lenses they provided with the m-series were the best pentax ever produced.

@anthonymiller8979 shouldn't be too much of an issue, I've had a couple cameras with that problem and it usually isn't too hard to fix
