Old ME Super ! The rubber inside the damper cylinder may have deteriorated and become stuck or adhesive. Try injecting some silicone oil into the damper-cylinder at the bottom of the camera, and also applying a very small amount of oil to the mirror hinges. (The damper cylinder is hidden and cannot be seen, so check its location with disassembled photos on the internet.)
Brett, I love your style of video presentation, it's more like listening to an old friend or family member talking passionately about a much loved hobby...great stuff, I have just purchased an ME super off eBay, UK £35 with original lens, I don't know what that equates to in Australia dollars? Back in the early 80s I used this camera as part of a Graphic design course I was doing, I didn't much enjoy the course but I never forgot the camera, I always promised I would one day buy myself one..well it's taken 40+ years but I finally did it, hopefully (fingers crossed) the camera coming to me will be in good working condition.. that is the only problem with the eBay lucky dip..will it work or will it wont!! I have subscribed to your channel, I was impressed with your excitement at the sound of the MEs shutter working..😂..a real enthusiast right there!! Cheers and greetings from the UK.
Thanks so much for your comment. Im glad those cameras are still out there. I hope you enjoy it and it works when you get it. Thanks for subscribing, its appreciated:)
I had the Pentax Program A or Super A. bought it in the early 80s' and only just sold it two years ago to Camera House. Sold with a Pentax 35-70 and a Tamron 70-200 as well as a Pentax flash and a few filters. $350 AUD which I was a little disappointed with, but it went towards a new Viltrox 85mm for my Fujifilm cameras. I never thought I would ever sell it as it had brought me many great memories but had not used it since about 1990 and the salesman said that film was making a comeback and that hobbyist's were looking for quality 35mm cameras. I was never going to use it again so I thought that if it can be used again and bring happiness to someone else, then it was a better fate for it. I would have only held on to it till I snuffed it and then it would have probably gone into landfill there after. At least It has a new home and being used.
i have the same camera but black body. it's was my first camera when i start shoot on film. i love this camera, it's such small and light. now i shoot on Pentax LX
We abandoned film because of low quality and expensive processing. Those things haven't changed. Do you have nostalgia for bad word processing programs from 20 years ago?
You can still pick one of these up here if its something you're interested in - Pentax ME Super amzn.to/3UUbLL6

Pentax are making a new SLR. They've hired in their older retired engineers to teach the current employees how to do Mechanical.
Thats very cool
Great insights here! Thanks for sharing🤙
Glad you enjoyed it!
were you able to get the repair done?
I.opted not to as it would cost more than the camera was worth

Wow! You have some excellent stories to tell 😊
But what happened to that girl?
She got married, had a few kids and last I heard was happy:)
Now let’s hope pinhead isn’t going to come by and ruin it all.
Did your honeymoon with ME Super end?
It did
